huh hearing sodor gaining independence from the uk in 1997 throught an referendum is interesting as it will definitly have an impact into UK politics like i will remind you that sodor gained independence the same time of an UK general election and like it increases the possibility of scottish and even welsh independence
It can probably be assumed that Sodor ended up joining NATO and possibly even the EU due to its ties with Britain (the EU part is probably up for debate)
@@Silverlink28 NATO can be debated (though they will just profit off of NATO defenses if they are "neutral" similar to Ireland). However they would absolutely be EU. The EU started as the "European Community For Coal and Steel", the 2 single most important resources in Sodor. Coupled with the fact they trade so much over sea and internationally, the EU benefits of free trade and open borders would be a no-brainer for the country
I enjoyed this video quite a bit. I've always wanted to make my own HC for Sudrian political leaders (Sodor stays a part of the UK in my canon), but I'm American, and British politics confuse me. I like how you went into details about the most famous and infamous PMs.
My headcanon is the same tbh. Sodor is basically kind of like the Isle of Man, a semi independent, self governing Crown Dependency. They rely on the UK to represent their interests overseas (albeit this is subject to some leeway; sometimes Sodor represents itself in competitions like Football (Soccer), Rugby, and railway related stuff) and defense. (Though Sodor has a Constabulary, The Sodor Regiment is a contribution to the British Army that defends the Island ala Falkland Islands Defense Force)
The only problem I really have is about its connection to the UK,I feel like it should of had somewhat the same paths as Ireland, gaining independence maybe in between 1919-1960s Like the population maybe started to think about an independent Sodor after Ireland broke away leading to independence before the Great Depression,or independence when the British Empire started to fall
Might’ve made more sense honestly. Just watched the movie about Michael Collin’s, and got a little inspired. Idk, might redo this at some point once I sum all of it up
No this is not boring, FOH, this is actually rather interesting! The first three were pretty bad especially the last two, good grief. But I liked the first two guys of the best prime ministers, but also the third as well, I liked how they both improved the economy, during war time and peace time, while restoring trust. Despite my dislike for politics but parts of it can be pretty fascinating if you look in another way and direction. Despite how boring it could be and the sheer corruption and wickedness in governments. I’ve been very upset with our U.S. government lately; and pretty angry. This video was kind of interesting! But maybe a little too soon?? But well done FOH!
Hey, fan of hiro, can you do an engine arrival on nevile because i want to see if the steamies and diesels will try to get nevile on their sides, or they all see him as a outcast.
Sorry... I'm not entirely sure you've properly thought through the implications of Sodor being an independent nation. Looking at it from a purely transport perspective, Barrow would essentially have to be two separate stations, one for Sudrian trains, and one for British trains, with border control facilities in between. It would also make your St Pancras express services unviable, again due to Britain's hard stance on it's borders.
I think it’s nice, but I don’t agree with sudrian independence, Sodor would probally be apart of the UK, as one of the kingdoms, or like a sorta territory like the Isle of Man, Mostly because, if Sodor cut ties with Britain, they couldn’t send their trains over to barrow, And they probally would get occupied because of how good of a location it has and mainly because it would be weird to have a random island near Britain, And also to say, if Sodor did all this stuff, then I think that Britain would collapse, as Scotland and wales would see the UK is weak.
I agree, Sodor is far too small and far too close for it to be independent without the UK choosing on their own to cut it off. I can somewhat accept Sir Topham figuring out how to get out of being a part of the big four or BR, but not so much this.
Never seen an AU where sodor is an independent nation or someone going into major background detail on political history
Trust me, he isnt the only the one who has Sodor as independent i do as well
Probably the only actual open railway with a huge political history.
It would also be cool if you went into detail about the various party’s in the parliament. And what their party’s platform is about.
This is one of your most informative video you have ever made. It also proves as an expansion of the world you made so far.
When you said Godred Corridor it reminded me of the Northeast Corridor that goes from Washington,DC to Philadelphia,Pennsylvania
Have you read an article from the Wikipedia invovling The Chase,Maryland train collision?

With all political ties cut in the 90s and with its reliance on international trade, Sodor would be EU absolutely
I think it would be an independent nation completely separated from the EU and NATO with its own currency

This is kinda intesting.
Cant wait for the next one 😊
This was great, i cant wait for part 2
Great work man! glad to see i am not the only one who has Sodor Independent from the United Kingdom!

I mean it’s really good tbh,but in the future I do think it might need a redo or something
As someone who watches andor this is not boring
Facinating story FOH keep this up and i'm very suprised about the Sudrian Goverment. I never knew they had names before.

Do the counties and the municipalities of Sodor have Flags?
quick question, where did you get the Push Pull coaches?
So Sodor is basically the Republic of Ireland.

Yes that would be a problem in the modern day. Unless brexit didn’t happen in his head cannon.
