Reading is to the mind, as exercise is to the body. “You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for: the people you meet, and the books you read.”
I started reading bc I am a depressed person who always overthinking about everything even small things also make me feel sad... and I think I must be doing something! I want to get my life back and move forward to see the world that I always imagine. then I started to understand the environment around me or the people or my friends and relations. I learn a lot by reading books and I am so grateful for myself for making this decision. thank I love watching your video.
The reason why i read because my family they don't like reading.when i was in grade 4 i wonder why they don't like read eventhough my classmate. And then i decided to step in to the library and grabbed my favorite book to read. Then i thought there are many things that i,my family and my friends need to know. After that i tried to explain them how wonderful it is,but nothing change.Until i study in grade 10 my friend is a reader. He like reading self development books.I started talk to him and we started trade our book to read. After i read i decoverd one thing why i can't make my friends and my family would like to read it's because i have to make myself loving in reading first before i can change anyone perspective and now my brother start reading like i wanted to before.
I love this story. You can't force people to read and change. Instead be a role model and show how it's improved your life and they will automatically ask you.
Amazing content Aun. I read for Ideas, Perspectives, an intellectual curiosity to know about everything and able to share them with others clearly. Several years back when I wasn't a reader, I couldn't understand when people who say that more they learn, more they come to know they know nothing. But now I understand it very well.
Fantastic video! Couldn’t agree more that having the mindset that reading will generate instant monetary success is both dangerous and will never make reading a healthy lifelong habit. In reality, that approach will breed both an addiction to greed and a “become wealthy and successful at all costs” mindset. Neither of which are healthy or beneficial. There is way more to life than one’s wallet size. Just as there is way more to reading books than generating wealth.
Exactly! The amount of readers that get put off reading because it doesn't make them wealthy in a short period of time is so high. That's not the goal of reading and should not be a reasons to read more.
Hi Aun Abdi i like your reason for reading, to constant expose yourself to different point of views who goes against your own opinions .. today we live in a divided wold where people are locked inside there own opinions politically religious and philosophical and so on . People tend to see what is not what they think believe and trust as evil. therefore i think what you do can contribute to peace in relationships to people you are meeting are friends with etc. because you are able to se the world through their eyes
I have and I highly recommend his works. I’m actually reading one of his books now. He speaks nothing but the truth. The unfortunate thing is that what he wrote and warned us readers decades ago is still happening in today’s world. His theory could come off as controversial if you’re speaking to someone with the opposite point of view, but if you take a closer look at West Asian history he makes perfect sense. You’ll gain a lot from his works.
I would love to know why you read. Put your comments below 👇

The more I read the more I gain an insight into different perspectives and this has really broadened my horizon which makes me really excited
That’s great!! 👍📚

That's great Arkam. The more you read the more you realise how little you know. So true.

I personally read to find out what others have endured and what has helped them overcome obstacles which might help me in the future.
Yes that a great reason.

Yes Richard. The more we can understand each other the better.
I desire to learn new things
Love that! Learning is so important.
Just out of curiosity have you read Edward W. Said's works?
I have not. Would you recommend? 👍📚

I read because I’m curious
