Never trust a ticket scalper, especially when they’re holding a handful of tickets. That right there is a huge red flag because what kind of a person can afford to buy that many tickets to resell cheaper.

The reason why "his industry has a bad name" is not because of a few bad apples; They make money by "buying on consignment" (which means they don't pay anything until it sells) making those tickets more expensive. A scalper charging below face value for tickets, I would run the other way if they were selling them at half price. At 4:18 they say they paid $50 each for tickets with the face value of $110. Maybe it is just that in Australia scalpers only sell tickets for games that have already been sold out and that makes me to expect a scalper to sell at inflated prices.

No offense Judge Milan, but JJ would not have given the plaintiffs anything due to the theory of "clean hands". They bought those tickets knowingly from the black market (is what we call them in Bharat) and hence they themselves did not have clean hands. Thanks to JJ I have gotten a very good lesson on whats legal and whats not. 😊

I'm embarrassed the plaintiffs are from Boston. They certainly were not the best representation. They were super entitled and tried to score a bonanza because of poor planning and poor decision-making. I agree, the defendant should have better business practices in place to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. But he tried to resolve the mistake and only refused to reimburse them because of their greed. I also find it hilarious they only went the cheap route when it came to the tickets but were pretty extravagant when it came to every other part of their trip🙄

I am surprised the judge was so rude to the ticket guy, who IMO was not obnoxious at all. And she is %100 wrong that the guy who sold the tickets is his "agent". Her awarding any money to these dopey plaintiffs who bought tickets from some random person is simply wrong. And why didn't they just go buy other tickets? This is stupid. The defendant didn't get the $200 and did no fraud.

Huh? Why would the plaintiffs get their court costs back? The defendant offered to give them the full amount they were owed ($200), but the plaintiffs admittingly wanted more than they were owed. This case never had to have been filed. This case was filed because the plaintiffs wanted to make a windfall. This judge is just like Judge Judy: if she likes you better, her judgment will reflect that. 😮 This should be based on the facts. AND they wanted the defendant to pay for their dinners BEFORE they even thought to buy those tickets from a scalper.

  • @Marcus616

I don’t understand how the plaintiffs are unsatisfied with the verdict. They got the $200 they were out for buying the tickets. Why would they think that they are entitled to their personal expenses when they were already there for the game minus tickets. Just go to the box office next time.

    • @lisaparrey1343

because the defended had the same tickets being sold at the same time, which is fraud and they wanted him to lose out as punishment, but he really didn't lose because he had already sold the tickets.

If the sports organizations made it so that as soon as a legitimate ticket is printed it is a completed sale and can no longer be "Sold online" too. Just like a lottery ticket, the specific seat number could be logged in the main computer showing it as sold and then no further paperwork could be produced to sell the ticket on any other median. But the sports organizations don't do that because it would cut into the scalper business. It's almost like they are complacent with the scalpers whom they claim to want to stop.

Mail the physical tickets to your agent, then (someone legitimately) sells the soft version...then you are definitely responsible to ensure the physical tickets are destroyed and not resold. I see nothing wrong with trying to get last minute tickets. Obs if your entire trip is based on this one game you should plan ahead.

The defendant sent those tickets to his agent in NY to be sold. Then he preceeded to sell the same tickets online. After he sold them, he did not inform his agent in NY that he had sold those tickets. His agent sold the tickets. So the tickets were sold twice because he did not inform his agent that the tickets had been sold.

Plantiff should have just accepted the money and learned from the mistake. Instead wasted time in court to "make a point" Its a point that many would be already aware of and several stadiums have warnings and such to literally not do that exact thing of buying from street vendor.
If you are travelling specifically for a sporting event make sure you have electronic tickets before your travel.

So these are a group of guys who went to NY, stayed at an hotel, bought food for over $800.00, spent over $300.00 in drinks...& then these 4 clowns made a conscious decision to buy tickets from a scalper off the street in New York. I mean, really?
And what is amazing is that not one of these guys were smart enough to tell the others that they should buy the tickets online in advance or go to an official ticket office & but proper tickets.
All they are showing is how dumb they are. Even the pigeons flying about in NY know better than to buy a ticket off scalpers. I am sure that if the defendant wasnt so annoying that this case would have been thrown out.

They were all obnoxious, but especially the plaintiffs.
They could’ve just as easily gone to visit New York City, which is its own destination, rather than for the baseball game.
And what would’ve happened if they couldn’t find any tickets? The same result. They would’ve spent all that money on eating and drinking and sightseeing without having gone to the game.
Their claim only makes sense if they travel to some tiny little town in the Midwest or something.
