If you're a fan of the Gen 2 Audi R8, than you're likely a fan of the Lamborghini Huracan, and if you're in a position to buy a supercar, you might be trying to decide between the two. It's no secret that both cars are really good, but they also share a lot of the same parts and are very similar cars in a lot of ways, but the price doesn't necessarily reflect that. The Lambo is way more expensive than the Audi. So if they're both amazing supercars, which one should you buy? Is the Huracan worth the extra money over the R8?
In this video I give share my opinion, which comes from first hand ownership experience of 2 Huracans and 1 Gen 2 R8. So if you're trying to decide between the two, or you're just curious, I talk about what the real difference is, having lived with both. Which one would you prefer? - Авто/Мото
Pretty much the only person on RUclips who genuinely shares his experience of owning supercars.

I really agree with that last point. "Test drive and make sure you get what you want." Ultimately, you should be buying what makes you happy. If youre not smiling constantly from being in your car, youve got the wrong one
On point. I often get into my ‘91 300zx TT that I’ve got less than a tenth of the investment in than I do my V10 6MT R8 and honestly I flat out enjoy the driving experience of the Z 5x more. A driver’s car is to make yourself happy, and a supercar is simply to peacock. Obvious benefits to both, it just comes down to what your purpose is.
everyone always goes for a 4 door car, even when young, but the number of times you use them back seats is almost never. Unless your girlfriend likes it, it is just a waste of space,
I’m watching this as if i could afford any of the two 😂 personally I’d get an R8. Cause it is more “refined” and I just don’t like talking to people
Ive found this to be true since buying my R8. I couldnt go anywhere in my lambo previously without a crowd gathering around. That shit gets old real quick.
I'd get an R8 too, mostly cause I'm 6'4" lol
@@Twiztid_Metal I'm 6'2". I fit okay man. No issues at all. The seating position in the R8 is much higher than the Lambo interestingly enough.
@@bringtheseo do you actually have one?
@@carguy0389 A Gen 2 R8? Yes I have a 2017 R8 V10+
I just bought a 2017 Gen 2 R8, and whilst it doesnt have the same flamboyance of my previous Gallardo, its absolutely miles ahead in terms of usability and comfort.
which is why the R8 isn't a supercar
@@MrDead1975 So a BMW Isetta is a supercar, because its unpractical.... I have a Gen 2 R8 and its a hell of a supercar!
Mark Jones lol. You muppet
You are comparing a Gen 2 R8 and a Gallardo..... ok.
Bring the SEO show us a video of your r8
I love how honest this guy is and compares to cars where as other youtubers wont go in depth and that much detail, but like I still cant afford either and would def go for a 720s 🤷🏽♂️ (when I can! Soon, I hope)
Well, it's to be expected when he actually owns the cars and not just rents them for a day or a weekend.
Get ferrari... trust me... old one are nice and there alway demand for one..just not cheap to maintance and yet again.. super car... they all not cheap to maintance.
Living in Munich theres a ton of r8 / Huracán drivers and i personally love the r8s looks softer sound and refinement. I've been lucky enough to drive an r8 and be a passenger in a Huracán and im absolutely hooked on the r8 :)
The price delta in Canada between the two used or new is huge. If you look on autotrader at 2018 v10 R8's vs. Huracan's, the price difference is over 100k. If you compare two 2020 models (there was no 2019 R8), the price delta between them new is over 150k. That's a lot of money for a badge. When you factor in ownership costs, plus the Audi stock warranty is 4 years new vs. 3 years for the Lamborghini, if price is even remotely a factor then its an easy choice.
I'd rather be respected by people that know their cars for making a wise choice than by a bunch of kids that have no clue as to the similarities or dissimilarities between them.
Great video and review, nice to hear an owners perspective.
Sorry but owning and Audi to me is that itself a downer.

Appreciate the comparison and luv the Alfa work, really cool plus the fact you're a fellow Ontarian, used to live in Burlington, keep up the channel, great to see, do a collaboration with the straight pipes," good Canadian kids", as Cherry used to say I hit the notification bell want to see more of that Alfa, thanks.
Dude the videos are insane. Absolutely love this content.
Thank you for answering this! This was eating me up for a very long time
Awesome video, everytime I watch one of your videos I always gain so much knowledge
Fantastic video. Extremely comprehensive. Lots of interesting perspectives from somebody who is on both vehicles. Thanks‼️👌🏼
Loving this channel 🔥
Great video, keep up the good work.
This video was really helpful, thanks!
Love this guys content keep it up man
Such a great video. I think I watch it every couple of months. Actually relevant insight.
Very thorough comparison, and your perspective and opinion on what it's like to actually own and pay for a supercar is quite unique. It feels like the experience would be incredibly fun, but also sometimes a pain in the ass.
This was the best car review I have ever seen. Non-biased experience transfer, bravo my friend, bravo!
Thanks for the insight! This will help with my purchase of a new Honda! ;)
You seem like a really cool genuine guy I love your content and value your insights.
Pure gold. TY for the info!
beautiful cars sir josh. great video as per. that 4c is my realstic dream car. so gorgeous
introvert gets an r8 extrovert gets a lambo
Nah people that don’t care bout a crowd will get the r8 😂
Drizzy Baldwin that’s what he said.
@@drizzybaldwin1478 You're still gonna get crowd driving in a r8 lmao
Great video. Useful honest views.
I never comment on any videos, but your video is really good. Subscribed 💪
Genuinely had no idea you had so much money before you plugged this channel on the Nike boot review.
Been watching SR4U content for years, but I had always assumed you were just making average money.
Congrats. I’m delighted for you that it’s worked out so well.
Spot on review good job bro
A very nice unbiased comparison review covering all aspects
Brilliant analysis. Hugely valuable to me as a prospective R8 owner. Initially targeted a McLaren 12C until a dealer scared the crap out of me regarding ongoing maintenance costs. Thanks, bro!
Different types of cars for different types of people! It would be a very boring world if everyone had the same tastes. Great explanation for both vehicles, and really they are both awesome cars, all boils down to the end user and how each car makes them feel inside. For myself, my Alfa QV makes me smile everytime I get in and drive it, so really it does not have to cost an arm and a leg to tickle my fancy lol Great video as always!
This is actually a very good video, very informative
This is like Tiempo 7 vs Tiempo 8
Or superfly 7 vs vapor 13
😂😂 jeez, when I began watching joshes channel a almost a decade ago, I didn‘t figure a soccer cleats channel would drop so much money lol
I'm a car guy and most of the RUclips vids I watch are about cars, but I'm also obsessed with soccer. When I first started watching him (couple months ago) I had no idea he had anything to do with soccer. I love meeting people who love the same things I do because it's rare to find someone in America who loves soccer, and just makes the chances even slimmer trying to find someone like that also into cars!
@@Sickwitit18 He is a Canadian though
@@AmbujKumarSingh216 I'm not saying he's American, I'm saying me living in America makes it hard for me to find people who are into these things. Lots of people are into cars, few people are into soccer, but it's rare to find people who are into both
Great vid, true comparison.
Hey Josh, I used to watch your SR4U videos when I played soccer more but I’m so happy to see we share a love for performance cars. I remember you saying you like Ferrari’s in a previous video and was wondering if you’ve looked at a 458 or 488. I’ve driven a 488 and I have fallen in love with it, there’s too much to say to type out lol
Thanks for the detailed information. Looking into the R8 alot, what about spider vs coupe?
Whether it's boots or cars, you always provide very, very good and unbiased opinions. Keep up the good work
Thanks! I’ve been trying to decide between the two 😎 🤙
The only person on RUclips that’s from Canada (where I live) that fully expresses their experience! Hello form Toronto!
Great video! Love your take on it all. But please change those cheapo looking wheels on the Alpha. They don't suit a sporty car. Haha just my opinion. Keep up the awesome work mate.
If I had the money(which I don't sadly) I think the biggest case for the r8 is that it's 90-95% the car in terms of performance ,at about a 100k price discount . It's also said to be practical on a daily basis.
Well said video!
The Audi R8 AWD variants do have the Audi version of LDS, coz I remember u can spec it in the Audi configurator
I’ve been watching your soccer reviews since u 11! And I just found this channel wtf how did I not know
Bang on comparison!
Ahhh yes I was deciding to get and R8 or hurucan to replace my fiesta thanks so much :0)
Damn! That was something I was looking for. Thanks a lot for this review.
Now I know I’m making right choice - R8 RWD is the way to go in my case. I would love to go with Huracane but it gets too much attention and I’m to tall for it... also the fact it is significantly more expensive is very important. But now I’m sure I will be more than happy in R8 RWD. :)
Good review
I know somebody that owned a hurricane evo he said it was too much like an audi to drive amd he sold it brought a ferrari pista
Awesome how you hit every angle of why one would like each car. Well done! I'd personally go for the R8.
I'm in Oakville as well and was wondering what insurance you are with? i'm upgrading from my 2017 M3 to a 2017 R8 and i found out my insurance won't insure a car over 500 hp and turns out its a common thing.
Bro you do car reviews too wow I only know you for doing soccer shoes I’m gonna follow you this channel too 👍🏼
Glad ur actually realistic about the whole experience
Great Video! I really like your content :) keep up the good work
Hey man love your content and your insight for such a young person. Would you purchase a 2014 McLaren MP4-12c? Heard good and bad things but the performance for the price is hard to ignore
For the right price, I'd consider one. Here are my overall thoughts on Mclaren ruclips.net/video/rDANstSbHVQ/видео.html
Where do you order your brakes and rotors from in the Lamborghini. Also how much does it cost rough estimate.
Very very fair review, I have driven a few Huracan's including 2023 EVO. and you are correct the rake of the windshield and seating position and seeing that Lamborghini Logo just does something too you. Hard to go slow in Lamborghini.
Great video and very well explained thank you greetings from 🇬🇧. I think I’d take the R8 as a senior average driver!
As a 26000mi daily driven 2017 R8 V10 Plus (see my channel) you're assessment between the two is about spot on. Fun watch. Only correction the R8 does have an equivalent to the LDS but I spec my R8 with every option but that. It is awful and gives less feel to the road. Lastly stock P Zero tires suck on R8. Pilot 4S!
hey man awesome vids, wanted to ask what you think of the 991.2 (2017+) turbo s cars, seem to fit a lot of criteria you like and supposedly one of the best driving cars in the world, ever driven or looked into one?
I haven't personally driven one, but I've only ever heard good things. I love the 911, but have always been more into the GT3 variants because that's what I like. With that said, if you want AWD and a car that is just insanely fast off the line while also being more usable as a road car than a GT3, it's an excellent choice. I haven't seriously considered one up until this point, but that's not to say that I wouldn't.
I traded the GT3 for 2020 R8 because the Porsche was too loud and rough to drive every day. (It had some mods) The performance is about the same , but I haven't gotten the R8 on a racetrack yet. Very little price difference, I was considering buying a Porsche Turbo when I found the Audi.
Thank you very much ! Totally agree with you! Now I’m gonna buy r8
I have an RWS R8. i have driven, but not owned, a Huracan multiple times. you review is spot on. i just test drove a 991.2 GT3RS. they offered me nice money for my RWS and the GT3RS is a great deal but for an additional $80K I didn't feel i was losing much keeping the RWS.
plus I can buy a nice C2 Corvette to put in the garage next to my RWS.
Mine is white as well. Oh and if performance is a concern add a tune and the RWS is as fast as most supercars available. I recently ran 10.75 at 130mph 1/4 mile. plenty fast!
I got a tune for mine as well, basically running the same power as a Performante. Well worth the money for that version of the R8.
@@carproblems8547 agreed. I am really enjoying the car
You’re so right about the infotainment system in the Lamborghini it’s like They weren’t even thinking when they Inc. Apple CarPlay try using Waze you cant see anything else on the screen. The sound absolutely sucks and the menu navigation is just a pain in the ass. But at the end of the day all the focus is on the engine
Love the way he justified buying the same car 3 times 🤣
Wich one do you think is more hardcore Performante or STO
The "oddie" r8 🤣
Also the R8 V10 plus in dry mode is 90:10 rear wheel drive.
The new R8 comes with a particulate filter. That reduces the sound a bit more and you dont get any pops and bangs either.
Still I would choose the Audi R8 over the Lamborghini Huracan.
Very informative as a point of view comparison.
Would you say an R8 or a MB GT makes a better daily? Also, what if we threw in a 911 4S?
Production of R8 is ending, replace will be EV super/hyper car, consider that..
Makes sense, the R8 cannibalizes Huracan sales
How did you get the money.. What do you do for a living
ey josh whats up!!! I thought u only review football boots HAHAHAHA
Can you compare the hurucan performante and the normal one, is it worth the extra money, I just find the performante more bad ass and appealing
Hey man! I’m from Toronto and I just found your channel a while back! And I heard you’re from Ontario too! I actually am about to buy my first fun winter car a 2017 C43 AMG at 20 years old and my overall goal is to either buy a 2016 BMW i8, or a 2008 Audi R8 V8 as they’re both under 80k next year! Any tips on shopping for supercars in Canada?
No specific advice, although I personally wouldn't go anywhere near a used, out of warranty i8.
@@carproblems8547 whats the best car in your opinion under 50k and yes I'm from toronto
Car Problems thank you! I was hoping I’d get advice on i8’s now that they’re out of Lease!
Tharsini Arampamoorthy I can tell you right now, it depends on the budget you have to maintain a vehicle, how much km’s you’re willing to put in it, do you care about depreciation and resale value. And what kind of driving you’ll do with it, I’m blessed to be surrounded by beautiful examples of cars from either my fathers collection, or the cars that I go through in my driving.
@@ricogaras9613 tell me any cars you would get under 50k
I can't afford either one, but I got sit in R8 at car show and I actually fit in it reasonably well, I couldn't even get in a Lamborghini Huracan.
(6'4" 280 lbs.)that being said I would love to be able to afford a Lamborghini, but I would go for the Audi R8 V10.
Audi R8 is better as a daily driver, a little more comfortable and user friendly than the Huracan, and if driven around the streets by normal people, there’s not much difference. However In the right hands on a race track, the Huracan will leave the R8 In the dust. Huracan is almost 1 minute faster around the nurbergring than the R8 and it’s aerodynamic design produces substantially more downforce than the R8.
what about the driving experience from the cockpit
So true!!
Hahah i mind blown when i realized this is the same guy as SR4U
The two cars share the same platform
The R8 is 95% of the Huracán for about 75% of the money.
Wait a minute!! Football boot dude has Supercar channel and the bloody cars. What's going on??
(Super jealous)
I really want the R8 V10 as opposed to the V8.. 2011/2014
I AGREE! Drove both and settled with the r8.
The lambos main selling point is the attention it attracts and the instant credibility (and jealousy) it engenders in business. The Huracan is the only Lambo worth getting unless you like long really expensive repairs where the whole rear half of the car needs to be disassembled. If you want classic looks and relatively good reliability and comfort go with a 911.
Great video! Still a tough decision.
I drove both, chose the Huracan. They are very different even though the chassis and engine are the "same".
Sound of the huracan is more extreme right?
I just bought a 2017 Audi R8 from a private party in perfect condition one owner 17k miles took it to dealer for service they changed the engine oil and transmission oil which they overfilled the transmission oil picked the car up started driving it transmission started slipping and not shifting anymore they ruined my dream car experience. Car still at the dealer trying to figure out what to do. Extremely upset and sad.
The R8 has a 4 year warranty that covers all the big stuff. did you get it serviced at Audi?
Robert Cottrell yes it was Audi of Ontario dealership! They are recommending to replace the whole transmission since both clutches are burned on it which they pay for it but I kinda don’t want an Audi R8 with a replaced transmission if that makes sense!
But, I know I can buy both of these using the exclusive SR4U Coupon Codes. I can also change the trim using SR4u laces.
i love those tho cars there actually pretty awesome for people built with speed 😛
I Love this guy
Little did he know at this time that the entire used sports car market went batshit insane a few months later. But he spoke the truth on the comparison.
U should look at buying the db11
"Using an AMG GTR as a tripod" (Had to like the video for that subtle flex)
hey brother nice video. i own a Lamborghini Huracan and the point you have said about the lift system that you need to stop completely is false statement. You can lift it up while driving at low speed and if you accelerate it will automatically goes to its place:)
No Huracan owner every said, "I wish I got the R8!"
Of course. Some R8 owners just own them Because they can’t afford the performante or Other Supercar.
Got that right!
Well there is one. I am trading my huracan evo for a new r8.
Video Idea: Trying to daily drive the 4C
i have a huracan 610-4 now and had r8. huracan experience is way better and i love my huracan more. the r8 was fun and practical but i just enjoy my huracan more.i can put it in strada and have confrence calls and in auto mode and no one would ever know im in lambo and i can just cruise. then i can go to corsa and speed if i want. r8 is the best bang for buck v10 platform though if price is a factor. just cant beat options on r8 and creature comforts.
The R8 is a Huracan in a suit and tie
So true.
How about having R8 AWD for daily (so it's usable in winters) and Huracan RWD for fun?
I guess if you just really loved the platform, that makes sense, but I can't say that I would really want to own one of each at the same time. Also, for winter driving, especially if it' somewhere that gets a lot of snow, winter tires will be way more important than AWD, and in general neither of these cars could realistically be your only car for the winter because of how low they are. At least that has been my experience.
@@carproblems8547 thanks for the fast reply. I'm really tempted to get R8 as my first serious sports car mostly because of being basically half the price, but giving up a bit of drama that Huracan brings to the table. Hard dillemas here.
Also, if I may ask, is it better to finance or lease? Thanks in advance!
At that point in my life where the wife actually says buy yourself a toy. Thanks for this video.
