For my purpose I am choosing cloud white since I want the same colour on walls and trims, and I am fighting dark and gloomy North West weather and including a north facing living room/dining room.
I chose White Dove after agonizing, wasn't sure I picked the right colour but now it looks amazing because I changed some of my furniture, which needed to be changed anyway. Sage green looks really good with white Dove, and so does blue. My neighbour next door chose Cloud White, and we have the same southwest exposure, it doesn't look as good, and I was relieved I did not choose it
all my wood molding is white Dove. Thanks to Candice on HGTV. Divine design. Loved her.
Couldn't agree more. I went as far as painting not only the ceilings, but the dropped ceilings and the picture molding Cloud White throughout my house. I chose satin for the picture moulding. This effect has blurred the lines of the ceilings and walls and softened the rooms, which have a lot of trim. I used white dove for outdoor trim.
I have Cloud White on my kitchen cabinets and love it!
Friendly Tip! Either one I recommend that you go 1/4 of formula for ceilings and trim. Looks awesome! Work's all the time. WOW! The gooseneck guy! Cheers!
I love this idea! I sold Ben Moore paints many years ago and love their formulas. I hope to repaint our whole 2700 sf house this year with a slightly warm white - probably White Dove - and haven't felt good about a trim color. This is a guaranteed way your trim doesn't clash with or change your wall color!

25% lighter or darker?
@@MessyyMissyy Reduce the full formula to 20% lighter. Even 15% is good. I recommend painting your ceilings and trim same color! Decorator's white for example. Cheers!
When struggling with what color to have my new kitchen cabinets painted, I had a designer friend suggest White Dove. I got a sample and because there is enough contrast with my kitchen sink, I went with it ..A big concern was that I would choose a white that would just look like my whites didn't match. Instead White Dove has enough color, so to speak, that the white sink looks white and the cabinets are deliberately a different color.... If that makes sense...Love the look. .. Only had them about 5 weeks now, but I'm happy with the choice. I didn't want anything more yellow.

We make white dove more than any other color. The difference in the formulas is white dove has more gray in it. They generally have the same amount of oxide yellow. But white dove is king. It can go into any compostion.
Can you put either of these colors on both the walls and ceiling? The ceilings in my living room and foyer are two stories tall and I want to use the same color so I don’t have to cut in another paint color.
This is a great video, James. I agree with all your choices and I think it mostly has to do with the fact that White Dove is just a little more of an off-white. Those two LRV points are noticeable. So it makes sense White Dove would be the best choice for cabinets and walls. I decided a year or two ago to use Cloud White for all the trim and doors in my house. I like Cloud White and that decision makes life less complicated. Another video I learned a lot from is Nick Lewis' "How to choose a white paint". He mentions Chantilly Lace as the neutral white, Simply White and Cloud White as the two warm whites, and Oxford White and Decorators White as the two cool whites. James, you might want to do a comparison of Cloud White and Simply White. Nick believes Cloud White is the slightly warmer of the two but I know others have said the opposite.
I love white dove the best out of the two of them. I finally found the color I'm going to use thanks to your awesome video! I have a really white couch and two dark gray chairs and I hope white dove will help to warm up my space. I'd like to see a video for comparison of Sherwin Williams tricorn black with another black!😊❤❤❤❤
How would white dove be on darker rooms? In lighted areas it looks great. ( I don't personally like most grayish colors).
this might be a silly question, but do the colors do well together? maybe one as wall paint and another as a ceiling or trim paint? Thank you.
I'm currently choosing between the two for the walls of a high ceiling studio style guesthouse that has honey wood floors sky lights and windows and patio doors opening to the east with tons of greenery outside (in middle of a forest). The walls are currently a warm light honey colour. I am repainting to make the walls a warm white. When I got the large swatches side by side to choose between the two Cloud White picked up more of the green from outside the windows and thus had a very subtle green cast to it and the White Dove did not. White Dove blended more in with the current light honey I have but obviously a lighter version. I hope this helps someone narrow it down if in a similar situation. Also, I had Decorators White and Oxford White swatches too and they were all too stark white in that space.
I like white dove, I’ve never used it but I think I could. Currently in my new house I chose polar bear white by Behr. My last house I used Swiss coffee.
I have both colors in my home. I love Cloud white for trim. I dont notice the yellow undertones. Everyone comments on how beautiful and creamy it is. White dove was my original trim color for many years.

I’m stuck between Alabaster and White Dove as there are extremely similar. Which one is actually brighter when placed side by side?
I painted my house chantilly lace and i love it..however it clashes with my white kitchen cabinets that are a lighter white. I have grey/black/brown spec granite countertops..what color of cabinets do you suggest? i have two tone which was an accident but the lower cabinets are a dark grey and upper white. Please help
If you do white dove kitchen cabinets, should all your trim be white dove through house? I was thinking since the bathroom has white subway tile and toilet which are brighter, one might select decorators white? Thanks for fine video. Always good. 👍

Can you give me your opinion on Blank canvas (DC-003) by Behr? Not sure if its on the yellow side. Normally I’m a fan of Benjamin Moore paint but this colour caught my eye. I’ve Never used Behr paint so…….?

Oh my question is there a paint color/ type that diffuses sunlight? I have a white house & it’s very bright in the summer in Iowa. Blinding white light. I thought maybe I could paint the outside of the first floor around the deck and patio or the surrounding garage area that reflects into the backyard where we are in the summer. But just that area, to hopefully blend in with the existing house white color without having to paint the entire 3 story house. Any ideas?
Some do not offer samples for purchase. The salesperson insists only a quart is available.$$$$$$
I purchased small amounts of several colors when I was looking to paint my kitchen and both BM and SW sold little cans for 10 dollars each.
Call other Bem Moore dealers and see if you can find one that will do samples. My local Ace Hardware is a dealer but they can only do quart samples and often don't have the base I would want. I'll be contacting a full service paint store to see if they can do the samples I want.
Order a peel and stick sample in Canada it is Hello Paint.
@@ninatanti6530 Ya... but her dealer doesn't/won't..... So get the peel and stick samples instead that come by mail. They are just about as cost effective. Allegedly they use the actual paint to make the sample. I use painter's tape and move it around that way instead of to the wall. I can tape it to a foarm board with a white border.

Anything whiter than Navajo white is cold as heck and looks like a snowstorm in Alaska, especially when the kitchen cabinets are white as well. Contractors should NOT even be allowed to paint kitchen cabinets white, the look is so sickening and it ruins a house since you can't get them back to wood. Also the Ikea type furniture is a deal breaker as well. Cheap looking and lasting and just plain gross. Real wood, earth tones and warmth are what a house is made of.
