Well done. I am doing the same project with a 6 pound hammer with the same handle length. I use white oak for all my tool handles, much stronger wood and more rot resistant than hickory. I like the shou sugi ban burn look and the gun bluing on the steel. For the handle finish I like to soak the handle in boiled linseed oil mixed with some paint thinner to make it more rot resistant then add few coats of polyurethane. Before setting the handle into the steel hammer head I clean the hole of rust and add a thin coat of epoxy in the steel hole and handle area before the tightening the handle into the hammer. That is a nice hammer perfect for hammer forging steel.

Таким молотком потом гвозди забивать, это кощунство! На стенку его повесить чтобы глаз радовал и пылинки сдувать!

Very nice! But: 5:36 Ouch! Do yourself a favour and use gloves and protecting eyeglasses when you work with cold blueing. This stuff is toxic and it can make you blind when it gets in the eyes.
