Hey Julia, many thanks for the insights into your portrait bag. I would also add a Bluetooth speaker, otherwise it's a 24 instead of the 135 and the whole thing with Lumix and Sigma equipment. Your tip with the silicone blanket as a base is great, I didn't know that before. Extremely practical!!! Best regards from Germany, Ingo
Very recently switched to Sony as well, traded in my R5 + 85 1.2 for A7iv + 50 1.2 GM and Sigma 24-70 II, waiting for the Samyang 135mm to complete my kit. Really happy with the switch, everything is so snappy and fast (Lighter as well) and the friendly Sony approach for third party manufacturers doesn't require you to spend ridiculous amounts of money for good glass or adapting older lenses as an alternative.
@bruceinmyheart I did watch reviews, its good but also considerably heavier, the Samyang was on par with GM IQ wise, that's enough performance and at 770g weight as well was an easier choice.
There is a iPhone and Android app called Horizon that the camera will always film horizontal. Also the Black Magic app will also do this for iPhone. These are good if you want behind the scene footage and have your phone mounted to your camera. But I like the glasses much better for somethings. Like outdoor footage. Indoor for weddings in low light I might like the phone better if I need to bring my eye up to the EVF.
may i ask how you're recording your camera info into the HDMI? there clearly is a cable there, but no idea what it leads to. What's your gear for recording this? Thank you and keep posting great content :)
I use both Sony and Fuji GFX, I have many lenses that can be used on both Sony and Fuji from Sigma and Zeiss. The only Sony lens I have is the 135mm F1.8 GM, but on 135mm I have four different brands, Sony, Zeiss, Sigma and Viltrox. Viltrox is a very impressive lens. For 85mm equivalent focal length the best lens I used is 110mm F2 from Fujifilm GFX. I wasn't that impress with 85mm F1.4 GM since it is only marginally better than 85mm F1.4 Sigma but 110mm F2 from Fuji is another league in PQ.
Hi 😊 Thanks for your tips! ❤What type of mat is the black silicone you showed in the video? I just found silicone mats for dinner online, but I guess it would be pretty difficult to fold this type of mat to fit into a photo backpack. Btw gorgeous idea to use this material! 👍🤩 Thanks!
I really wish Sony would make a 40mm GM lens, or two - f/1.4 and f/1.2 (but even just one of those would be better than nothing). For me, 40mm is a great sweet spot between 35 and 50 (35 is often too wide, and 50 is often too narrow, imho) 🙂📷
@ Yes, exactly why I wish Sony would get busy and make at least one 40mm GM (or at least in the 40-43mm range). There is the Sony 40mm f/2.5 G, which is nice for walk-around stuff but not the best for portraits or ultimate image quality on a 61MP (or higher) camera (though, it’s quite good for what it is). So keeping my fingers crossed that there will be more really good 40mm -ish options soon.
Sony has very good cameras. I have a Nikon D750 and I should not spend an inordinate amount of money on gear, because it puts pressure on my photography and it’s just hobby (I love the fact that my D750 and 100-400 cost the same as my iPhone). However I am tempted to go mirrorless, and Sony gear is quite small and light, which I prefer (I only do travel photography). But I wonder if they aren’t just a bit too evil for me. ;) Matt Granger mentioned toxicity as a reason he did not go with Sony. Having said that, that’s him and not necessarily me. The A7 IV ergonomics aren’t that great for me, but they are rumored to release the Mk V in the not too distant future. Still, I’m not sure I want to switch to Sony. Just a personal thing, but it’s my choice so I think I’m entitled. If they were miles better than Nikon, that would be one thing, but they’re not. And even if they are, I am most likely the weak link. In the meantime I’m actually also considering MFT. It would be much lighter, though also less capable.
personal opinion here.... i see that most if not all of your shots are edited with a film preset. Do your clients just prefer that over your natural looking sharper imagery? I try hard to get into the "film" look but I just cant' get past how unnatural it looks to me.
The silicone mat it's a great idea... i'll search for one!
This is making me want to get a 135mm
Trying to lock back in to shooting a lot of photography and start educating myself again! Love your work!
Camera woman who is already gorgeous!🥺✨
Wow, such an amazing work. Sounds too professional. Love it!

that mat is great idea
Hi Julia 😊 ! I always enjoy the portrait photography 📷. Hope You are enjoying the summer ☀️.
Great tip with the silicone mat!

😮
Consider the Viltrox 135mm LAB instead of Samyang 😊
You must have lost a lot of money selling the Canon gear. I see it on eBay so cheap. It wants me to get some Canon super telephotos.
@bngr_bngr I've lost nothing, it was a 1:1 trade with a Sony shooter.

tell me, how much does an hour of your work cost, taking into account depreciation, of the specified equipment?
No business should release their cost structure.
This was helpful thank you ❤
I'm always curious, what do you use to record the in camera footage?
How to make camara scenrecord
Great video. Would love to know what your gear setup would look like if you had to do a more budget setup.
1 Sony body

I hope you will try Google pixels phones again
I think you need an A1ii ;)
I think the photographer is much more important.
Leica SL2s 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Hey Julia where to explore your wedding Photography
Why is it that you don't seem to use vertical grips on your camera?

That is true. 40mm is a very good focal length but there is only 2 auto focus 40mm, 40mm F1.4 from Sigma and 40mm f2 from Zeiss

Zeiss makes the 40/2 AF for Sony. That’s only a stop difference.
I know you did (and I watched) a video comparing the 85mm. So are you truly happy with the move to the II? Like do you SEE the difference?
Sony Feels like PREMIUM and well-built + weatherproof; it seems like a great choice.
“dust and splash resistant” does not = ‘weatherproof’
I’m waiting for Sony to switch to a bigger mount. Sony needs a 85/1.2 instead of having to use an adapted lens.
Hi Julia :)
I ditched my camera bag for a trouser’s pocket and for just anything that comes along in it is my iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Couldn't the Sigma 28-45 1.8 Art replace some of your lenses? Have you had a chance to test it yet?
Sigma is just not at the same level as Sony lenses.
Here I am still trying to figure out whether to camera or not 😂

I still use a Nikon D3 and D700 for personal work.
Please tell me which one is your favourite camera for portrait photography? Sony, Nikon or Canon?
Vous êtes une très belle fille
Alors!
lol

She showed us everything except how she record her camera screen 😂😂🤦♂️. One day guys
