Im so happy that the gloves worked out for you. By far the best solution we have found and thanks for taking the time to share it with other beekeepers.
Wow, good news!!! Congrats 🎈 🍾 🎉 I too was checking on queen success last week after a walk away split. The colony made a few great looking emergency cells right away. On the 24th day, l returned and checked. Both deeps were full of nectar and no queen in sight. Before l ran out and bought a mated queen, l gave them a frame with eggs just to make doubly sure l wouldn’t waste my money. I rechecked two days later and couldn’t believe my eyes. I saw frames of polished cells and they had ignored the eggs. On top of everything else, l saw her majesty!!! Couldn’t believe the transformation 48 hours made in the bee hive. From now on, my guide is to wait at least 28 days for a walk away split. Always something new and that’s why beekeeping is so addictive. 😊
Good thing you checked for the queen. These strong nectar flows they will fill everything up and no room for those new queens to lay. I have some nucs and single deeps that are that way. Good luck!
I was just checking one of my hives today and found lots of swarm cells. I also found the marked queen from last year. I caged her and ran to get a 5 frame nuc. Got her put in there with 5 frames. One was a frame of Better Comb, and the others were from the hive I took her out of. Shook some more bees in and closed them up. Another swarm averted. This has been an off season for me with our move into our new log home. I have not been able to check my bees as I should have. I did successfully move 6 hives out of the third floor of my barn using a man lift. What a task that was. They are safely at the new house and doing well. Keep those videos coming.
That's awesome! I love it when I can find the original queen before she swarms. Something I'm going to start doing next year is to knock down all but a couple of the best looking queen cells to prevent those cast swarms from the extra queens. It doesn't take long to get behind when you have other things going on. I'm usually trying to get a garden started during swarm season, so I understand. A new log home sounds cool. Take care.
I use a lot of three framers for getting queens mated and they can fill up quick. Sometimes a good number of bees return with the newly mated queen. So they either need to be moved to a nuc with drawn comb or sold off and the bees combined elsewhere. Otherwise they must might swarm looking for larger accommodations!
Hi Nancy. Yeah I’ve been watching them closely and feeding sparingly. Looks like I will have a couple to sell this year. That’s a big surprise to me. lol.
Hey Darren, thanks for the tip on the gloves. I just switched this spring to a nitrite glove made by venom steel that Bruce's Bees recommended to me and beekeeping is so much more enjoyable. They can sting through but usually don't? I did take one on the tip of my pinky the other day, ouch! Your blondies are looking great.
Yeah James, it’s amazing how good they work. My only gripe is that it takes a bit longer to get them on, but that’s no thing when it’s not a bee emergency. lol. Thanks for watching.
Another thing you might try if you keeo getting stung is to wash your bee suit. the veil would need to be washed by hand, but the rest can be run throuhg the wash.
I wash it once every two years whether it needs it or not. LOL. 🤣😂. I usually will wash it after honey harvest because it gets a lot of sticky and sweaty that time. I always wash the veils by hand. I’ve heard harsh detergent will turn the screen white and then you can’t see thru it. Thanks for watching.
I had a disappointing inspection today. Another queenless colony. There were 5 queen cells that had hatched naturally. Not one made it. May give them another week to prove being without a queen. Bummer. It WAS one of the strong ones.
Hi HHH. Yeah a little better would be good, but 75% is ok. Some of those may still get gobbled by a bird if they fly out to mate some more. Thanks for watching.

Another great one!! You have a good eye for spotting queens, especially that last one!! Very cool how you can start with two separate hives on the apimay then pull the spilt if one has a mated queen and the other does not!! Great way to increase your odds.🪱🪱🪱

Hey Shawn. Yeah they are awesome. Thanks for the tip!
This year has sure turned around for you. Lots of honey and new queens. Good job Darren.
Hey Russk. Man it sure has indeed. Im very grateful for sure. Thanks for watching.
I still can't get past the garden enclosure, it is almost a work of vegetable art.👍
Thanks DCs bees. I need to do a homestead update video and do a garden run down.
Wow, good news!!!

Great video! Glad you are liking the Apimaye hives!! They are truly amazing!
Hi GrillingNetwork. Yeah I definitely like these double nucs. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your knowledge LORD BLESS
Thanks Boby.

👍👍👍
Thanks Kajun.
Ya I think you have the tiger by the tail. They are looking great. Thanks for the update. THANKS
Hi Kathy. LOL yeah she was tiger camouflaged. lol.
Hey Darren, good success rate! I wish you continued success.
Thanks Emil. Have a nice Sunday.
Darren, per good success keep doing what you are doing buddy!! 🤪
Thanks Billy Boy. Have a nice Sunday.

Those dark tiger striped queens are very hard to see! Thanks!!!
Hey Rodney. Man I know. My eyes were looking for blonde/reddish queens and there she was. They are definitely hard to find. Thanks for watching.

The key is the liners. Hands aren't swimming in sweat after an hour either.
@Jerome Bee Farm & Homestead Just pulled mine off and they were swimming, lol

Man it happens. Disappointing for sure. Sometimes I’ll give them a frame with eggs and give them another chance at it. Good luck.
Three out of four? That's still not bad. Hopefully you can maintain or improve that ratio.
Hi HHH. Yeah a little better would be good, but 75% is ok. Some of those may still get gobbled by a bird if they fly out to mate some more. Thanks for watching.

Hey Patrick. Yeah those Apaye hives are really cool and well thought out design. Thanks for watching.
