As a Rangers fan, we didn't get away with our dodginess even though it was technically legal. Celtic used the same methods but I guess not as vigorously. Certain teams are made an example of and certain aren't.

Diplomatic communications between sovereign nations are almost never disclosed, some sob story FOI request isn't going to break that tradition.

It's not really difficult to see why conversations would at least be had, and there is absolutely no reason why these conversations - which are confidential and not eligible to the freedom of information act - would not be disclosed to a sports journalist looking for a big scoop.

Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) If they haven’t said “we neither confirm nor deny if the requested information is held because XYZ”, then they have to confirm if the information exists or not. Then, they can give their reasons (exemptions) for withholding that information.
This is exactly what happens when nations own entire football teams. It’s unacceptable tbh. Ruining the game one day at a time.

The Premier League is on trial here, it’s as much to do with the League’s ability to reach a verdict in a timely manner as it is Manchester City’s past allegations of flagrant cheating.
If they brush this under the carpet, and no verdict is announced/enforced, we’re entering into the realms of Total Farce for the game and I would think the European Super League gains a lot of momentum/traction as one of its selling points is transparent and fair regulation
People will draw they own conclusions of course, but if I was a City fan, deep down, (not on social media) I’d want a resolution brought, to remove any cloud/asterisk that is hanging over the club in the eyes of so many

Simon Jordan is right though. There are far too many people now who make their own judgements before all of the facts & evidence have been ascertained & gathered. A Data Protection request was put in by The Athletic, and almost immediately people will start assuming there is guilt, especially as the request has been refused. This leads to conspiracy theories, started by people with zero understanding of politics or international diplomacy. They're doing nothing more than fishing, hoping they can find something that means they can publish an exclusive article that will earn them clicks and subscriptions.
The Athletic are a bunch of muppets all doing it for clicks and views.

The Premier League are only investigating two payments of £15million made on behalf of Etisalat 10 years ago, a one off payment to Mancini of £1.7million and player image rights for 3/4 years.
The total sum of money is less than what Utd broke FFPR with. The only difference is City are accused of hiding the money which makes it more serious but it’s nowhere near as serious as you think.
The reason it’s 115 charges is because there are loads of little rules in the PL rule book that get triggered for doing something wrong.
Rodri triggered 15 for getting sent off with one action.
And they’ve also been duplicated.

Simon doesn't seem to appreciate the fact that the government can redact elements of the correspondence that are unrelated to FOIA request and may be sensitive politically or diplomatically, but there can be no reason for the UK government to refuse to disclose matters involving the Premier League and the UAE as it pertains to private issues between a League and a club.
And how time consuming would that be? Barristers would be all over it and it would cost time and money... Absolutely no chance of happening.
