the exhaust gasses from the turbine/turbines (not sure if single or twin configuration) are directed down through the tail boom and out though the side, hence the need for such a fat tail boom. at 6:38 if you look closely you can see the tail exhaust vent being closed. Hope this helped
The Angry General NOTAR system. (NO TAil Rotor) it has a fan at the front of the tail boom which blows air out the back where there is a duct that spins and directs air where ever the rudder pedals are
Nothing better than watching all those birds land and see all the different configurations and models..... Just wish I was there. Not many military though.
Super!!! One of the best aviation vids Ive seen! I love choppers!! You have such a cool helicopter show in your country! One day I hope to see it!!! 1:21 for the smoothest, lightest most gentle touchdown! He could have put that thing on eggshells! Some great skill on show in this vid!!
Does anyone know what kind of helicopter that is at about 4:00? It's hard to see but it looks like it has an H number rather than an N number so I'm thinking European?
I'm only into fixed wings and don't know much about rotors. How do the copters without a visible tail rotor work with the whole counter rotation concept?
Everyone saying they use the exhaust is retarded. The engine that drives the main rotor also drives a ducted fan inside the tail-boom that creates a high volume of low pressure air that is vented to slits on one side of the boom creating a lift factor using Coanda effect. The leftover air is then passed to the rear where there is a rotating nozzle that they use for extra fine control if needed and then once you hit transitional speeds the vertical stabilizers will create a dynamic bias picking up the majority of the counter rotation loading off of the NOTAR system.
Most beautiful sight is a BK 117 Rescue chopper when you've been crushed and mangled, believe me! The crew was awesome, they got me to the trauma center quickly.
The music is there, I hear it clearly. Beautiful video!
Damn, always loved that custom eagle paint schemes on the MD 500/600 series.
4:06 The AW-119 is fast rotor main

3:54 is that an Agusta Westland AW119?

Can somebody tell me why the helicopter on 9:23 does not spin out of control with out a tail rotor?
The Angry General umm idk .......
The Angry General NOTAR system. (NO TAil Rotor) it has a fan at the front of the tail boom which blows air out the back where there is a duct that spins and directs air where ever the rudder pedals are
Is there a reason why the Leonardo AW109E Power is faint?
Nothing better than watching all those birds land and see all the different configurations and models..... Just wish I was there. Not many military though.
I know that the average viewer must find this incredibly boring, but I could watch these birds land ALL DAY LONG

Is the one at 02:41 a Sikorsky S-92?
It might be
thank you for this awesome video, that big yellow helicopter looks bigger then the Marine One.
I'm only into fixed wings and don't know much about rotors. How do the copters without a visible tail rotor work with the whole counter rotation concept?
They probably use the engine exhaust as thrust and direct it out the tail boom.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicopter_rotor#Intermeshing
This is the NOTAR or No TAil Rotor sistem.
Juan Pablo Velásquez
Awesome, thanks
vector ed jet thrust,,,I e the engine exhaust

That was a real nice smooth landing of the red EC135
Yeah, that H135 was quiet as hell!
Notar is unstable or very sensitive??
Pilots say there is a noticeable delay when performing a pedal turn in a NOTAR compared to a regular none-inclosed tail rotor system.
yes, owned by PHI, who has over 20 of them working the gulf of mexico
I'd love to own an MD500 one day. . . Training in 300Cs will have to do for now.
THANK YOU for a great vid and NO music.
Most beautiful sight is a BK 117 Rescue chopper when you've been crushed and mangled, believe me! The crew was awesome, they got me to the trauma center quickly.
How many helicopters usually participates in Heli-Expo?
+Kjell Rasmussen Around 40 or so fly-in. Another 3-6 are trucked in. Another 2-4 are mockups (assembled in the display booth).
