Anyone else get the impression Toyota released this truck before it was fully fleshed out? Little stuff like loose panels, the fact that unused switch positions are just covered over with blanks or the fact they've decided to place the hybrid batteries in everyone's favorite storage position. Then there's the gauge cluster on lower trims that looks about 10 years old. IDK, I want to love this truck and I feel like I've waited a long time for it, but I already feel like it needs a light refresh.
Not sure if anyone else pointed this out but the bottom portion of the paint is done like that on purpose for more durability due to chips etc. It’s been like that on the tundra as long as I can remember. My 2012 was the same way
Beautiful truck. Your question about purchase. If retired, cruising around the pan handle, some home depot trips, fishing etc....absolutely. Mats have a great design along with the amazing interior but Toyota, if you are listening, that part of the floor catches most of the dirt...redesign of the mats is a must. Jon, great video sir.
The "Textured" portion you pointed out at the trucks lower area is absolutely by design. Other Toyota's I have owned have featured this and it's purpose is to add paint chip resistance to this chip prone part of the vehicle.

I know some have been saying that they don't have a need for 4 wheel drive and that is fine, but I believe in being prepared so a 4x2 is not for me. Better to have and not need then need and not have. Also the full price with market adjustment was $70K. Kind of a lot for that vehicle. Did like the looks though.
Beautiful truck and great walk-around video. I'm perfectly fine with the 2WD. I have a 2016 1794 Edition that's 2WD and I love it. I'm in VA and we don't get much snow here. I'm not a off road guy anyway. I just cruse around and take road trips in mine and I don't haul a lot of heavy stuff. Just the typical Lowes and Home Depot stuff.
The 1794 is what I would get with one change, love the Silver but would prefer the Rich Cream color interior for this model. Add the Advanced Package with options that includes the power running boards and a Tonneau Cover and that would do it.
I don’t like all the chrome. I’m really disappointed that the only way you can get a color matched truck is with the sr5 trd sport. I really want to do a fully loaded sr5 w/trdoffroad, but I can’t stand the silver fumanchu around the grill and silver on the rear bumper.

Absolutely!!!! I was saying the same that all trucks should have the bed step standard across all or included in a trd offroad or trd sport or trd pro package as standard. Toyota has gotten very greedy!!!
Nice tow hooks. That thicker bottom pain is there to help protect from paint chips and scratches. Pain is actually thicker in that area and the textured look hides imperfection when paint chips happen.

I like the truck. Just don’t like the price ! Especially for it not being a 4x4…trucks getting outrageous on pricing…
2 wheel drive 60k is too much!
Nothing about this model is appealing , all that chrome ugh and 2 wheel . Not for me
The grill on the platinum and 1794 is fugly. Capstone 4X4 is the way to go.
That platinum life though
@@TRDJon platinum looks like a base model next to the capstone.
Eh idk. Doesn’t look that much more premium imo. I’ll have to see them side by side in person
Not a fan of the chrome or 1794 theme. And live in snow country. That’s a no for me dog. Haha
I’ll take it for 65k outotd
I think it looks great but for me it would be 4x4. The anti-chrome bigots are too funny. This fad too will pass. Next thing you know somebody is going to blame the turbo waste gate defect on a chrome part. Shine on chrome - shine on! 😂
Lol shine on
So now people who don't like gaudy chrome are bigots? FFS, learn some perspective.
Some chrome is necessary!!!!
Would not buy. I find it very ugly and it’s 2 wheel drive. For 60k, it seems about $10-12k overpriced. Interior is nice.
What idiot is going to spend $60K on a 2 wheel drive pickup?!
Nopes
$60,000 for a 4x2??? Who going to buy that???
Probably why it’s still on the lot
Bad Turbos with no fix
Every single truck????
@@TRDJon just a few trucks now. However, when you dig into the details, it sounds like it may be an inherent issue on all the trucks released so far with those turbos. Reminds me of the 6.4 Ford diesel engines. They didn’t all die at the same time, but they all would eventually if you worked them hard enough. I guess we’ll see soon enough.
2wd? No thanks
No I would not spend that kind of money especially when it doesn’t pay for it self
For sure
Too much Chrome.
Hate chrome 😒
I take this truck for $35k out the door
Anyone would
