I’d imagine that Goombas and Toads are entirely separate species of mushrooms.
In fact, I think it’s more fair to classify Toads as mammals, since despite having mushroom “caps”, they look very much like primates.
As for Goombas, those’d probably have several different species and subspecies. For examples, goombrats and galoombas would be different species.
