Did the car already have CarPlay or is that the actual CarPlay module. I’ve got a 19 SQ5 that has CarPlay but it’s not wireless. Is there a way to retrofit the wireless receiver? I’ve looked at those plug and play and they seem average at best.
Why would it need a seperate mic when the car already has a mic for phonecalls?
I didn't have to install a separate micro. It works with the original micro of the car :)
Just installed this, now my factory reverse camera doesn’t work. Also the text app, Spotify etc.. won’t allow to scroll through anything so it has to be done through the phone. I also cannot get audio to work through CarPlay.
So theres no need to connect the two camera input cables? The stock ones functional with the unit as per normal?

When using carplay waze navigation can you listen to the normal radio?

If I add a reverse camera to the yellow connector will the display each time car is in reverse on the car play system

It’s necessary to install the microphone and the usb ? Or you just can’t put the wireless module to see the maps and listen Spotify ???
You can do wireless but you need to plug it in first for initial connection not to mention software updates etc

You can watch this video and install it yourself! It's pretty straight forward. Just make sure you have the tools needed (audi radio removal keys, socket and screw driver set, tape etc).

Just wondering what the mic is for? Wouldn’t it just use the exiting mic they picks up the OE telephone 🤔
Do you need the mic if already installed with mmi genuine system?
Yep - genuine mic = OEM Bluetooth / new mic = Siri and voice commands
Why can’t this utilise the OEM mic?
deanor77 The OEM mic is still used for the factory Bluetooth and voice control. The new mic is only for voice control with your phone (hey Siri / ok google) so you need both in tact. I’ve seen people try to cut the factory mic and splice in the new mic. 1) not gonna work with Audi 2) pointless as you’ll lose one of the two features you need.

Factory mic is still used for Bluetooth phone calls but the new mic for CarPlay + hey Siri
Hi mate I have seemed to connect the box with my unit in an Audi A3 2013 however everything works beside the sound whilist I’m in car play? Any idea or help with this one please? Would be really appreciated:)
hi mate so i dont have the exact one as you - but i do have one which is IDENTICAL - when i plug it in that blue logo shows up but doesnt continue to the next screen - any ideas ? how would you do a software update on this device
Does it default to CarPlay when starting the car or do you have to go through MMI menu to start CarPlay?

Does this work for Audi A3 2016? The interior and glove box looks exactly the same. Does this void car warranty? Is there a install service?
Yep it works. Doesn’t void warranty and yes we install in Melbourne :) otherwise we ship the product to you and you can find a local fitter.
Can you just use the factory fitted mic or are the ports different?
Factory mic for Bluetooth calls. New mic for voice control :)
@@TheFittingBay Cool! So is it possible to use Waze in CP, including voice instructions, and at the same time call someone via bluetooth? What about the original rear camera, will it still come in when I shift to rear while CP in on?

Hey buddy keen to grab one of these kits for my 2013 a3 does it stuff up any existing reverse camera or diver assist stuff alarms when installing the CarPlay function?
Not at all :)
So I assume you just plug in the main power cables and leave any labeled plugs if you have them already setup?
@@efficientlyyou5372 kind of. It works in conjunction with the power + CAN + screen cables so it’s plug and play and in the end you have added features without changing any of the OEM stuff
When running Android Auto, does it use the entire screen? I have seen other retrofits where only part of the screen is used, leaving massive bezels. Thanks!
AA uses the full screen except the left side which is the Home , google assistant buttons

@Rxtrocal you need a AMI AUX port in your glovebox. Change audi MMI audio to aux and it'll work
@@Peter-mm4ot yeah I connected a cable I got to my Ami in my glovebox. Now no audio works period, outside of CarPlay on the bluetooth and radio
Is the installation the same for the Audi A3? do i need any coding or wire cuts? and how is the audio quality, any echo?
Also my car comes with a mic, will the wiring be different or will the module detect it?
Audio is perfect, bluetooth is meh but you use genuine audi for phone calls. No coding or cuts, but VCDS is good to clear codes from unplugging stuff.

For the Audi bluetooth yes! For CP no, needs the mic it comes with for voice control etc.

Just installed a different kit into my 2014 s3 and it uses factory mic for Siri :)

burock Nope but you’ll need to clear fault codes after install

burock OBD11 or VCDS will do it. If you don’t have a computer you can remove the negative terminal on the battery but you might still get some codes :)

Thank you for the indepth video really helpful! I have the same unit installed, only having one issue is that on my cockpit, it doesnt show the track name and couldnt use the steering wheel button to change to next track.. do you have the same issue? Thanks in advance🙏

Hi, I have a 2015 s3 8v and in the armrest I have a mmi port which I can plug in a female USB. Would this work for the android screen mirroring or do you need to use the USB provided on the carplay box? Thanks
