It's incredible to witness a master talk about their craft. His insight into the creative process and sound selection are genuinely enlightening, and it's fascinating to see how he maintains his unique style while staying current in this ever-evolving industry.
@@HoodHandyman While there's no denying the legendary status of Dr. Dre and Quincy Jones, it's essential to recognize the unique talents and contributions of other producers like Boi1da. His ability to adapt and stay current in the industry demonstrates his mastery of the craft. Utilizing modern tools like Fruity Loops and VSTs doesn't diminish his skill but showcases his dynamism and ability to evolve alongside the industry. Each producer has their journey and path to success, and Boi1da's innovation and creativity deserve recognition and appreciation in their own right.
"Get a bucket" 🏀 Most sensible thing I've ever heard a producer say on a podcast. So simple and spot on! Thanks PG and PC for bringing these 🔥 interviews!!
I'm a RUclipsr and followed boi-1da forever. He's so humble and wise. So many valuable gems about creativity, mindset, and falling in love with your work that apply not only to RUclips, but life in general. Plus it was cool hearing the BTS of making my favorite hip hop bangers.
Theres levels to this shit, Boi1da made pound cake and didnt expect it to pop, this year celebrating NWTS 10th anniversary ive had the album on my playlist and about 70 percent of the time my day starts with good God almighty. Gets me zoned, thank you for greatness
Boi1da is a true legend. So on point when he was talking about leaving the master chain clean and dry,if you got dope sounds they'll probably mash up proper, if not move on to another 808. I've been trying to work more minimal lately. Thinking of it as realestate in a song and there's only so much, so if it's not working move on to a sound, or drum that'll be a better fit, but keep it simple. Great Podcast!
From back in HS to seeing him around town these days, this guy is one of the most humble ppl in the industry I've seen... One of many legends from durham
went back to listen to this is how we do and yeah that kick drum was laying there waiting to be sampled lmao this guy is a goat this practice was very popular in the edm scene since the kick in edm is the most important element of the track, so they used to sample kicks like that. Anyway respect to this guy
So far gone is a CLASSIC Tape. I remember the hype around it n how different it was n how impactful drake was. People forget how INFLUENCtial wen drake first came out was. Shit was crazy asfuck!!. As a Drake fan that's prolly one of my favorite eras from drake next to 2013, 2015, 2017 ers of drake. 09 drake was different frfr.
No way you guy's got Boi-1da on here now we need that 40 interview & also Nineteen85 OVO is a power house when it comes to making hits/timeless records.
Love yall content. Could ya’ll ask one of these producers about how a producer can be prepared for when a major placement hits? I feel like a lot of producers who don’t have a placement yet aren’t prepared for that email “Send me your info.” Maybe ask what every upcoming producer should do or expect when they land first placement. This happened to me with my first placement and i didnt know what to send them. I didnt have a lawyer or a manager etc…
He's right. The end result is the only thing that matters. What he said about taste and knowing what good music sounds like is interesting. Most people haven't done the research & gone back to hear and understand why and how good music is made.
That year in the lab at the start of a career is crucial. I’m only 6 months into producing and I learn something new every day. I’m still a long way away from where I want to be
Time went by so fast listening to this. Very informative. Please try to bring Wondagurl next and you gotta ask her about her some sauce because her drums are just to unique. She has drum bounces I've never heard from anyone else
yall should go back and list then VSTs and equpiment they guest or host mentioned. if possible also look into getting affiliate links for these products so you can makes some extra bread too. good episode
Awesome insights! Scarborough is one of the many towns similar to Brampton, etc it's cool to see people come up from anywhere even if it's some random place in Canada! I'm an hour west of Ottawa in a town of 15k people, a few people I know are into music production
What’s interesting is hearing him talk about forming relationships, passing out free beats and finding people he wanted to work with. Didn’t sound like he was “selling” beats per say
Can we get star boy, outtatown, or Loesoe on the podcast. They produced a lot for uzi, ken Carson, trippe red, etc. cmon we need one of them on the podcast

Dr. Dre is a master. Quincy Jones is a master . Again another producer who's whole life changed when he discovered fruity loops and some crack vst's.
