Welcome to the Queen’s world! Let me introduce you the band: Freddie Mercury the lead singer and pianist, Brian May the guitarist, John Deacon the bassist and Roger Taylor the drummer, they all were highly graduated. Queen is the most versatile rock band, they wrote their own stuff in several genres from rock to jazz, to pop, etc. about 200 songs. Freddie never took singing lessons, but his powerful and emotional performances are still legendary.
Freddie had 3 unfinished songs and he put them together into this masterpiece. Why is it so famous? It was absolutely uniqe in that era, they played never heard harmonies, they multilayered the vocals, they created an operatic section and who else would have started with this line: "Mama, just killed a man". Pls, check out Somebody To Love at Montreal 81.

Welcome to (I hope) the Queen rabbit hole. Try their live performances, this group spanned 20 years until the lead singers death in 1991…but they still live on in all our hearts, and two remaining members keep the name alive with touring, even now, with other lead singers (which I do not enjoy…loved Freddie Mercury too much). But I love seeing Roger and Brian still playing and loving music. They’re so talented!! The best group ever.

There are so many layers to this band. The lead singer (RIP) was born in Zanzibar, Africa. The lead guitarist is a genuine astrophysicist. In fact he wrote one song for the band ( '39) that deals with Einsteinian relativity in a very emotional way ("Your mother's eyes, from your eyes, look at me.")

To have some explanation to the song we have to know it’s written by Freddie Mercury the lead vocalist of the band as the song starts with his struggle in life then comes his conversation with his mother rather calmly saying he killed the old him and now he is a new man (referring to his transition from a straight guy to bisexual) which he is in reality (he died of AIDS many years after that) then comes the opera section where Freddie is here referring to his old self as a silhouette and to Scaramouche (a clown character from Italian traditional theatre who often wore a mask and who was a rascal) then we hear Galileo who is an Italian physicist and astronomer who made the first telescope and viewed planet mercury through it (hence his name is Freddie Mercury) then there is the verse “Bismelah” which is an Arabic word for “in the name of God” in which he refers to the Muslim majority in his native country and the oppression made to the minority Zoroastrian (an Iranian religion) Freddie is pleading to be let go to live his life and be who he is.. the operatic section ends, the mood shifts and the expression here is of anger. The song becomes very heavy and Freddie is referring to someone stoning him and spitting on him.. In the final line of the song, Freddie states that he is at the whim of the wind. In other words, he isn’t in control of his own life.. there are more lyrics that I didn’t explain as it needs a whole book to write but it’s a very complicated song not just musically but lyrically 😅

It's hilarious to watch young people freak out about surrealist lyrics, and shifting the different parts of the songs.🧓 I was 4 in 1964 when The Beatles started The British Invasion, and pop culture ramped up between New York and London to California. So I was singing Strawberry Fields Forever, Crimson and Clover, Magic Carpet Ride, and American Pie along with the radio all through elementary and middle school.
What's so funny is this was called Freak Out music because it upset ADULTS!! back in the day. Now the KIDS are often the ones freaking out.
Good reaction but you need more experience. Hmmm... Try Jimmie Hendrix, Are You Experienced? As good a place to start as any.😊🎸

"Creeped out but I like it" 😂 I can live with that! I can't remember my first time hearing it but I wish I could again. Check out some of the Green Day videos of "Bohemian Rhapsody" pronounced (BOW HE ME AN RAP SOD E)song being sang by their crowd. Incredible.
Back in the 80s & 90's, we had this yearly top 100 songs of all time played from 100 down to 1 every New Years Eve. There are 3 songs that ALWAYS moved around between being #1 #2 or #3 and probably still would today. We always took drink bets as to the placement of them.
    Led Zeppelin "Stairway To Heaven"
    Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"
    Eagles "Hotel California"
Since you mentioned the word creep - I think you should react to "Creep" by Radiohead. Thom Yorke has one hell of a voice & he wrote it from his experience.

We'll let it slide this time but the unpardonable sin is to pause a Brain May guitar solo. I'm sure you will get told this many times for this video. Also it is always best to never pause during any guitar solos since there are many guitar players that you just don't do that with. Another one is Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin. Good reaction though. Keep it up and really look into the 70's bands like this one since you will find the most talent in that decade than any other decade before or after.

Creeped out? Probably because you don’t know good music when you hear it, the amount of time and musical talent that went into this one song is way beyond what your brain can Handel . Rap rotted your brain. BTW stop commenting on the styles’s back then, when you have these weirdo’s today and the way they dress. Give it a break. This is the legendary Freddie Mercury , who is considered the greatest frontman of all time. Have some respect, maybe do a little research on the songs.

Why cannot you people listening to a song for the first time just listen to entire song and after that make your comments? Is it a typical American thing not being able to focus on anything more than 10 seconds at a time? It's so incredibly annoying when you're cutting every song into small pieces. Aren't you interested in getting the full picture, so to speak?
