    This song is beloved all over the world. Written in 1975 by Freddie Mercury, it went to Number 1 on the UK charts immediately and stayed there for 9 straight weeks. It made superstars of the band Queen. The band had a 20 year career with Freddie as lead vocalist and made 15 studio albums. You will gain subscribers the more Queen music that you react to. Hints: pause fewer times, never during a guitar solo. Be prepared for listeners of all ages. Also, do a live gig...Queen are absolute fire live. Subscribed! Please do more Queen reactions! Queen fans will never think there are too many Queen reaction videos, so-as reactors-you can’t go wrong with Queen. In addition to that, Queen’s music is awesome and there’s A LOT of it. Do yourselves (and us) a favor and, sure, react to Queen’s big hits, but don’t stop there. The Queen repertoire is chock full of hidden gems. And their videos of their studio version songs are often quite interesting. But perhaps the best thing about reacting to Queen is that they were an amazing live performance band. I attended a few concerts back in the day and I can attest that the energy at their concerts was simply electric…primarily due to Freddie Mercury. All 4 Queen members are (or were) ridiculously talented musicians, but Freddie had that special something that made it so you just couldn’t take your eyes off of him. He always gave the crowd a memorable show and his musical abilities were second to none. Looking forward to more Queen reactions from you!

    Nice reaction, young gentlemen! It always warms my heart and gives me hope when the younger generations explore music from the past. Keep it up!
    Bohemian Rhapsody, was released in 1975 on the album "A Night at the Opera" which should give y'all a hint as to the musical genre. Freddie Mercury was a huge fan of opera so this song was written as an operatic suite consisting of five distinct parts: an a capella intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock section, and a reflective coda. Generally it is classified as rock-and-roll, but specifically as a "rock opera" and "progressive rock."
    "Bohemian" describes an unconventional, artistic style with freedom and individuality as key elements. "Rhapsody" in musical composition refers to a single work comprised of episodic, diverse pieces arranged into a free-flowing structure. This song came to be because Freddie had pieces of songs he never completed, so he put them together, each section totally different yet masterfully blended into a truly epic masterpiece. It is the band's magnum opus, and is unanimously considered one of the best songs ever written.
    As for the meaning of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", Freddie was purposefully vague. As with most of the greatest songs, the lyrics are poetic and mysterious. The meaning is open to interpretation for each listener to decide, based on how the music and lyrics touched them.

    • @vivinamorrison1186
      @vivinamorrison1186 Год назад +3

      I saw a quote from Freddie once that said, “IF I were a poet & someone asked me this same question, I would have said, ‘Well, what does that mean to you?’ All I’d have to answer with, “What does it mean to you?” “Then THAT’S it!” ❤Why is it that as soon as I add music to my writing & suddenly I have to interpret everything?” ❤ Good point, no? ❤

    • @SharonLathanNovelist
      @SharonLathanNovelist Год назад

      @@vivinamorrison1186 This is very cool. I hadn't heard that exact exchange, or if I did I've forgotten all but the general point of personal interpretation for this song. Some songs have an exact meaning that is clear in the lyrics, but this certainly isn't a requirement or standard. And even if the lyrics are clear (or the writer reveals precisely what they meant) individual listeners might see an alternate meaning due to something unique in their lives. The wonder of great music and great writers!

    The first section of beautiful harmony is actually all Freddie Mercury on multiple tracks. Freddie was working on three very different songs when he had the genius inspiration to combine them into this epic masterpiece. One of the three songs was originally going to be called "The Cowboy Song" which is where the killing and gun references come from. Don't feel bad about not knowing what the title means, even the other Queen members don't know, this was all Freddie's baby. You need to listen to it with headphones to be able to appreciate some of the special effects in the song. This video was recorded in 1975. If you want to see a truly amazing performance, watch Queen at Lie Aid 1985. Freddie has the entire stadium in the palm of his hand.

    Freddie composed this with a brilliant command of multiple musical styles tethered together - the very idea of a rhapsody. When you see the original handwritten lyrics (exhibit on tour prior to a London auction in Sept. with items from his home there), in a hand drawn box surrounding the text, printed larger than any other, is ''NOTHING REALLY MATTERS TO ME." I tell you, that stopped me in my tracks. This song challenged rock song structure - that's why it is still talked about today. The video cost $5000, changed how music was marketed (laying the ground for MTV and the music video as we know it today) and put Queen on a different genre hopping trajectory. Keep going....

    May, Mercury, and Taylor reportedly sang their vocal parts continually for 10 to 12 hours a day. The entire piece took three weeks to record, and in some sections featured 180 separate overdubs. Since the studios of the time only offered 24 track analogue tape, it was necessary for the three to overdub themselves many times and "bounce" these down to successive sub-mixes. In the end, eighth-generation tapes were used. The various sections of tape containing the desired sub-mixes had to be spliced (cut and assembled in the correct sequence). May recalled placing a tape in front of the light and being able to see through it, as the tape had been used so many times. en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bohemian_Rhapsody&action=edit§ion=1 Wikipedia

Their bassist has stayed in retirement and is reclusive but drummer Roger Taylor ( a dentist) and guitarist Brian May ( an astrophysicist) are still going strong. Brian built that guitar, known as the "red special" himself at age 15, using items from around their home and with his dad's help. It's worth a fortune today...but Brian still uses it! Check out some Led Zeppelin-- Kashmir ( live at Knebworth ) , or the amazing Pink Floyd performance of "Comfortably Numb" from the Pulse concert. And those of us who loved the hippies era music of the 60's will appreciate Janis Joplin "Piece of My Heart" and the legendary Woodstock performance of "Soul Sacrifice," by Santana. I see you're just getting started...all of these are bangers and will bring in views & subs to help build your channel. Rock on!

    People are not aware of the complexity of the production and musical dexterity that went into this piece. It took months to produce and complete. A time when music came from great minds and not out of a computer.... The recording of the multiple layers and overdubbing to get the choral sound. You had to sing each over dub over and over.. where today artists just sing it once and computers and autotune do it all for you. And a time concerts were ALL live...if they sung a bum note then that made them human... We had fantastic musical masterminds. Freddie is most definitely one of them.

    When this was released just before Christmas 1975 it was a game changer. We had never seen nor heard anything like it and nothing was the same again. I've listened to it thousands of times and it is still as fresh as the first time. Four great musicians led by Freddie Mercury, the best frontman of any band ever.

    This was when real music was played. No fake, no auto-tune, no computer made music, just pure talent. Back in those days you couldn't step up on the stage if you had no talent.

    Freddie wrote this they brought it out in 1975! Freddie said his songs meant whatever people listening wanted them to mean. He is known for having the best voice ever. This is a great band. They could play any genre. It is still a number one song. Do your research on Queen you will be amazed. That song is what basically started MYV and VH1. 🎤🎸👑🎹🥁🎶

    Bohemian Rhapsody is a rock opera; a rhapsody is a written or spoken expression of great emotion. Freddie wrote the song, it was his way of telling the world he’s gay, and the Freddie of yesterday is no more🎉

    It's Rock Opera. Also: no autotune/Q wrote all their own songs (& I promise you will know more than you think you do)/ no backing tracks as they played all the instruments you see. Freddie could also play guitar and Brian (guitar|) could play piano & keyboard as well as a 12 string guitar. Concerts were such a thing because it was the band & vocals.

    Bohemian style in design is layers, like one rug on top another, many cushions stacked on a bed or couch, etc. So here, Queen is stacking one genre of music on top of another which is on top of a third which comes around to the beginning tune.

    Awesome reaction guys! I love when the younger folks listen to the music of my youth. It’s 1975 and we were about to hear a RockOpera as amazing as this and go nuts. No MTV yet , no RUclips, we had to hope someone would play this video on a TV show. Cable TV was just starting, it was just radio and even just as music this song was nuts. Some more Queen, if you’ve ever gone to an arena sports event, We Will Rock You. That will be familiar, “oh that’s where it’s from…”
    Also from the 70’s let’s go in a 180 direction. How about Rainy Days and Mondays by Carpenters, the official video AKA Live at The Desert Inn performance. No auto tune just talent and That Voice, Karen and Richard Carpenter, sister and brother. I’m new to the channel. I’ll check out more you two work well together. Much success…
    ETA
    I see you’re just starting this channel. Pro Tip; let the Carpenters Army find you via the algorithm, your numbers will go up. I’m an OG Carpenters fan and that’s how I find a lot of channels. I found you because of Queen another of my faves. My taste is diverse but Karen has my heart forever. May she RIP. 🙏

    Missed by many. At that period in time, we didn't buy singles, we bought albums. & Many artist themed the entire album. This is one. I've heard reactors say Bohemian Rhapsody borders on opera in a few places without realizing or understanding the album is called "A Night At The Opera." & It is the album that should be listened to, start to finish when you're relaxed & have the time... Enjoy!

    Hey guys...
    Thanks for showing the love for Freddie and Queen... they are THE BEST... want to try another masterpiece (off the same album as BoRhap) is "The Prophet's Song", considered as Brian's answer to BoRhap... just subbed in hopes of hearing more Queen...
    Queen are known and beloved worldwide for their harmonies and their transitions... the most unique band in rock-n-roll history... most innovative, most creative, most adored!!
    For samples of their instrumental talents, listen to "Liar" and for vocal talents, listen to "Let Me Live" where three members of the band take turns singing verses... quite cool, they are ALL so talented... blessings.
