    The fact that the fan thought Undertow was selling out is mind boggling.

    People talk about diss tracks like Hit ‘Em Up Bo, No Vaseline or Killshot for example.
    Yet Tool IMO have three of best with Anemia, Ticks and Leeches and HWAP. Dissing a city, their label and their own group of fans/

    Message To Harry Manback was literally a voicemail message left on somebody’s answering machine, some friend of the band

    Also, that filler track with the Italian dude. Put that track side by side with Dier Von Satan track. They're like flip flopped in regards to our stigmas. Romantic Italian voice and music filled with hate, vs evil hate filled tone against a Hitler sounding dude reciting a lovely cup cake recipe. Plays into the whole album conceptually. I think it's one of their best albums.

    By describing the kid drinking Coke, brand new tats, and his dope T-shirt, the kid thinks he's edgy and alternative. But that kid doesn't realize he's a just consumer who has bought into an image.

    He is alluding to the guy being a poser, he is wearing the latest fad products ( Van jeans, new tattoo, sipping coke) i.e.."buying" into the latest thing, literally and figuratively, and then judging Maynard as "selling out"...poser and a hypocrite. So it is a big diss, just shut up and buy my new record or any of the latest products. Thats my impression anyway. Liking your content, keep it up.

    You're the man for doing this. lol. Please do Lost Keys(Blame Hoffman)/Rosetta Stoned next. Many sure you get the lyrics for it. It'll be a unique ride and I'd love for you to experience it. It's another kinda silly one from them, like this one. If you want one that's close to La-ter-al-us, then Parabol/parabola are an EXCELLENT next song to try.

    Fun reaction! This is Angry Maynard. Such a great song live, and great to sing along to when angry. Spot on with the lyrics; I also think he’s dissing the fan for being so naive about the music biz.
    Plz do play the next two in order!! Jimmy is underrated and rarely reacted to. Thanks M!

    Maynard basically says he himself is the H with a P. (sold out long before that fan heard his name) but also sold his soul to make the record. So yeah, he wants people to buy and hear it but people still have a choice if they even want to. So who is the dumb dumb, the guy making the record selling it or the entitled useful idiot buying it?

    Well, he mentions the kid’s clothes to point out that this boy is a consumer of pop-culture products, but he’s got the nerve to call Maynard a sellout. So; Maynard is basically clapping back with “hey; I may have sold out, but your the one who bought it.”

  • @YTDumpsterBaby
    @YTDumpsterBaby 6 месяцев назад

    Maynard's point is we're all sell outs and we're all the man as consumers we're buying into products that are produced by sellouts for us to buy and support. Very few people wake up and don't need to answer to anyone.

    By the time you get as big as they were then, you have to have bartered away something. I think they stayed true though many albums, to their "sound".
