In this video we compare the saramonic ultra to the dji mic 2 and rode wireless pro to find out which wireless microphone is the best in 2025. As always, no single mic system won in every category. Watch the video to learn which mics win in each test to figure out which system is right for you.
Update: at 7:12, I say that Rodes Mics require you use their software to grab their internal audio files. This apparently is not true, and I assumed it was because their software auto-loads everytime I plug one of their transmitters into my computer. If you don't have the software installed, you can grab files off it like the other units.
I don't know whether to watch this or wait for the corrected/updated video next week?
Nice video as always!
7:00 I'm literally offloading files from a shoot right now, as you talk about the Rode WP... YOU CAN just plug the charger box into a USB C cable and offload the audio, no software required. It populates each receiver in finder and you can drag out the wave files (can also do the individual units too). If you open the Rode Central software you can do other things, change setting, export etc, but I only do that when needed. BTW I'm obviously not through the review yet, but one thing I love about the Rode WP is that is comes with 2x $100 lav mics included in the kit. To me it makes it hard to buy any other kit as it's just such a good value. Hope these Saramonics do as well.
Thank you. I'll add an ammendment to this video. I jumped to conclusion because every time I plugged in a unit, the rode software opened and made me hit "export" on an audio file. I'm glad you don't have to do it this way.
There was a firmware update on the DJI mic 2 a couple of months ago. Just curious if these had the latest firmware because it seems like everyone was saying they sound a lot better now. BTW, excellent video like always :)
Testing all 3 at the same time for wireless range introduces interference in the 2.4ghz range.
2.4ghz is everywhere now and I want to test these things in real world environments.
I imagine have the three so close together would cause some problems.
With RC cars running in 2.4ghz, they can race many cars together with no interference. Why would 2.4 be such a problem here with only 3 systems?
@@BUILDEMTORIDE The cars don't transmit (much?) and the actual transmitters are not stuck together. Also the transmitters are more powerful.
I love wireless mic reviews -- it's my kink
You should see my wireless mic only fans
How about the Hollyland Lark M2s ? ;)
Maybe one day
What about a comparison with Sennheiser Profile Wireless 2-channel?
Are the batteries replaceable? I don't think so. So whether they are Saramonic, Rode, Dji... they are all to be rejected. For the avoidance of doubt, those radio microphones are excellent if you use them every day or every week, but if you use them every 3 or more months the battery charge is greatly reduced by the manufacturer's nominal value. I would have preferred these radio microphones with an easily replaceable button battery housing (like computers).
Agreed. I bought one DJI mic 2 to record audio to my osmo action 4, but after realizing it’ll be a piece of powerless junk before too long, I’m holding off from buying any electronics with non-replaceable batteries. At least the $130 spent was a wake up call to pay attention to details like that
I agree, replaceable batteries would be nice, but they are doing this to reduce form factor, and I doubt this applies to mics but to maintain water intrusion standards.
It's a value proposition really, will you get your value before battery failure? I would bet 95% of people will. I know I've gotten my money's worth on my $1000 phone.... without a replaceable battery.
the same thing was mentioned somewhere else and rode replied that they replace the batteries for free when you send them in
Yes, I agree that current radio microphones have the advantage of miniaturization but in terms of durability they are not up to ENG microphones such as Sennheiser EW or Sony UWP, DWX, DWZ. 2 types of microphones: Sony and Sennheiser have the advantage of using AA or 9 volt stylus batteries; DJI, Rode, Saramonic... use proprietary batteries that if they need to be replaced you have to open the radio microphone like a mussel without damaging them or taking them to a service center, if they are. Otherwise it’s $400 or €400 wasted. I would have preferred radio microphones on which you can easily intervene to replace the battery: there are button batteries of different sizes from AG1...13 and 2032 that don't seem bigger than the radio microphone itself. Do you want a waterproof mini radio microphone? What's the problem: after you open it, by pressing a small lever, replace the battery and replace the small elastic o-ring for waterproofing, as you do with the marine camera cases.
@@TasteofTaboo Yes, I have the Rodelink which is the only model, like the Sony and Sennheiser ENG, on which you can replace the battery yourself. But at this point they lose that miniaturization and you use them with the lavalier microphone.
Apple should consider Doing a wireless mic and receiver. They will sell like crazy and work best with their products
DJI sounded best to me.
On headphones? It was clearly the worst to me.
@ watched the video on my appleTV home theatre setup.
