  • Dr. David Lechuga has been training in Shotokan Karate since 1978.
Dave learned and practiced karate with the old school practitioners 'back in the day'. He describes what that was like and how he got through it.
Mr. Ohshima - one of the few living martial arts masters in the world - awarded Dave his first degree black belt in 1983 - and 23 years later in 2006 - Mr. Ohshima awarded him Godan ranking or 5th degree black belt. This is the highest rank awarded in Shotokan Karate of America and Shotokan Ohshima around the world.
Dr. Lechuga is also a psychologist and the director of The Neurobehavioral Clinic & Counseling Center, servicing individuals with learning, cognitive, and behavioral challenges including brain-injured adolescents and adults.
He also serves as the sports neuropsychology consultant for professional and amateur teams including the LA Kings, LA Football Club, LA Galaxy, and Concordia University.
