Mam मैं जिम कार्बेट गई थी वहां पर कुछ लोग जंगल में किसी प्लांट को काट रहे थे तो सफारी वाले ड्राइवर ने बताया कि ये लेंटाना को काट रहे है। उसने कहा ये प्लांट जंगल खा रहा है और जानवरों के लिए भी नुकसानदायक है इसलिए इसे कटा जा रहा है

I have an invasive lantana plant which has taken over my fig tree! Impossible to uproot it as that will harm the fig tree. And now after cutting it down to the ground the lantana is growing back with multiple shoots. I did not introduce this plant in my garden and we're walled in so the only possibility is that birds brought in the seeds.
Finally someones spoke up the true knowledge ☺️

Yah plant bahut Sundar hai, hamara pass bhi hai yellow colour for maroon colour. Dhup mein rahata hai aur bahut phool khilte hai. Humko to bahut achcha lagta hai😊😊❤❤❤

Grassland areas mein lantana growth ke karan native grass grow nahi kar paate hain kyunki lantana canopy bna leta hai aur sunlight ground tak nahi pahunch paati. Herbivores deer, rhino, buffalo, etc. lantana nahi khaate, unko vo *native* grass chahiye vo ki iss *invasive* invasive lantana ke karan samapt hote ja rahe hain.

Mujhe isse skin allergy hoti hai. Itching ke baad red skin and swelling. Although flowers of lantana are beautiful but it has bad smell and causes allergy to me.

मैडम यह बहुत खतरनाक प्रजाति है पौधे की यह जमीन को बंजर बना देता है और दूसरी फसलों को पनपने नहीं देता इसके फायदे कम और नुकसान बहुत ज्यादा है क्योंकि मैं भी इन सब बातों का निरीक्षण करती हूं जहां भी यह झाड़ी है वहां की जमीन बंजर हो चुकी है आप इस पौधे की खूबसूरती के वजह से तारीफ कर रही हो लेकिन दूसरा पहलू ज्यादा नुकसानदायक है
इसीलिए ड्वॉर्फ वैरायटी लगानी चाहिए गार्डन में

Iam from Himachal Pradesh, you don't know how dangerous this plant is, 1:
it doesn't allow other other plants to grow under it
2: majority of the forest land is occupied by it, becz of this farmers cattle don't have grazing lands left for it.
3 : Many of our indigenous plant species are endangered and at risk of extinction because of it.
4: When birds eat it's seed and then poo 💩💩, then new plant grows from it's poo.
5: When people try to cut it for whatever use, its thorns inject some toxins into their body .
6: If you burn it to the ground, after 4-5 months it will grow again.
7: every year panchayat tries to remove it, but it grows again
8: Your cat doesn't eat it because cat is not herbivore animal, but I personally have lost my 2 cattles because they tried to consume it.
Sahil, you have researched a lot about this plant, but please look at the plant I have in my garden for years now. For home gardens you get the dwarf hybrid variety of Lantana, which is not at all invasive. Rather you have to take a little care of it to make it survive.

@@AmlaanBaag In cities arrable land is not in close proximity to each other and we can find construction over the land that breaks the bridge for it to propagate. Lantana needs unceasing/contionus land to spread.
I believe what you said is 100% correct but there is no such research that shows how this dwarf variant of lantana would spread in the forest.
Moreover, places like Himachal and uttrakhand provides amicable climate for lantana. Lantana thrives in Temperature where there is nither too much hot nor cold ( that makes lower and mid Himalayan range are more susceptible/vulnerable).
My dog loves to eat lantana. I have to be careful with him.
