    I really enjoy videos where Joey finds someone who's really good at coaching and then listens really carefully to them. It shows that despite his athletic ability he still stays humble and is willing to learn. A great role model for younger lifters

    110% agree! i'm a seasoned lifter, i bench 380, deadlift 600 and squat 500 and this movement humbles the fuck out of me!! my gym got one about a year and a half ago and i use it about once a week. my only tip is take it slow! its not a clean and press. pay attention to ur form.

    Dave have anywhere where shows a simple program? Like when he is talking 3 week wave... do you just do the speed work 3 wks and then maybe 3wks of speed with chains? What to do after? Maybe just speed with slightly heavier wt than you started?

  • @donaldkasper8346
    @donaldkasper8346 11 месяцев назад

    I don't agree with unracking at all unless you are already a power lifter. First, with long arms fixed bench my arms are not straight dragging the bar out. Second, you need to make sure you can lift the weight and are set up properly by lifting up then out. If you cannot, you just lower it back down to the rack instead of dumping the weights should you not have a spotter. If you cannot handle the extra half second lift time, you really need to do something else. Now you drag out as a power lifter because someone else is spotting for you, and racking/unracking is not part of the competition, just overhead down and up is it. You can only drag straight out when your arms are locked, meaning it is your gym or the rack is adjustable and it perfectly set ahead of time for your arm length. My gym isn't variable height rack and it is too low several inches. So the bar is up to lock the arms extended, then bring the weight out. Now at 500 pounds that half second might be another lift, but 0.01% of viewers are going to get there. Most just want to get in shape and build strength.

    why no pause for speed work i must know lol pls

    • @Nick.McIntyre
      @Nick.McIntyre 2 года назад +2

      It's how muscles work with force couple and length-tension relationships. At the maximal stretching point, your muscle wants to hit the contraction hard. Think of your muscle like a rubber band, when it stretches, all it wants to do is go back. Pausing negates that and focuses on the stretch vs the explosive movement out of the bottom, which is still beneficial, just not for building explosive strength.

    • @Nick.McIntyre
      @Nick.McIntyre 2 года назад

      @@jackluke9960 the pause is required for the competition lift, so obviously you need to train with it. Like Dave says about the sticking point though, you can't develop that power from a pause.
