Hi Melody. I mostly use a tiny bag ( louis vuitton mini pochette) I carry the basics Cards ( drivers licence, debit cards, 2 most used reward cards and insurance card) Cash - I do cash to keep an eye out my spending Keys ( 1 key & car key ) Air pods - because I like music when out or I watch RUclips if stuck somewhere. 1 lipstick 1 chapstick , concealer & tissues. That's it. Then I carry my phone in my jeans pocket .
I am so glad to see that you linked the junior TUL notebook. It is my all-time favorite thing that you have recommended. I hope people who watch your video check that out. Also, the Pangea lip balm is so worth it. It smells so nice and is very silky smooth on my lips. I also carry a spork, straw, napkin and reusable tote in my purse (I have used them for years now...I like to think I am doing my part to be eco-friendly) This is a great video, Melody, as usual. People who are trying to minimalize after years of being "collectors" often don't know where to start. Your advice is very helpful to show that you can buy things with intention and purpose and also stay brand loyal. It really does save money to stick with just one thing and only replace that one thing when it is worn to the bitter end. I am learning...........wish I would have learned this much earlier in my life, but the message is getting through.
Thanks for this video! Trying to carry less. My everyday bag is a tote that friends call a “suitcase.” Sales clerks in stores follow me around because the big bag makes them think I’m a shoplifter! So your video inspires me to use a smaller bag and limit what I carry every day.
I've been watching your videos for a long time and loved the Fossil purse you showed in one of your earlier videos. I think at the time you mentioned that it would probably last you about ten years. I actually bought a black one just like it because I liked yours so well. I was just wondering why you didn't have it anymore? It was beautiful and the color served you very well.
I was so happy when a out 7 years ago, I found Cindy Joseph ' BOOM! Cosmetics. talk about minimalist....she makes 3 products that fit everyone:color, glow and gloss. So that's in my cosmetics bag. Sometimes I use a Milani lipstick ....for variety. Also cruelty free. I think Minimalist is definitely the way to go....Brava!
Just placed an order for the exact same bottle that you have. I really like the fact I will be able to keep it in my purse. I have needed a bottle for quite a while, but was overwhelmed by all the choices out there. I did not want to make another mistake as I did in the past. The darn thing leaked. Anyway thanks for the tip Melody. Every Monday I look forward to receiving your latest videos. You really are my favorite. ( :
Hi Melody! Love your videos. Love your 2bags.!! I saw the natural colored bag with chain and ring recently and wanted it badly!! The other bag is gorgeous too. I like all your suggestions and products you use. I like that you buy quality over quantity. I'm making a list of things to buy from your videos!! In my purse I always try to carry a few items for a lightweight feel. I don't want the heavy weight on my shoulder.I have small wallet, package of tissues, small makeup bag to hold my mirror, lipstick, compact of translucent face powder. My Lexus has a keyless remote device on my key ring and a house key and that's it. I like the baby water bottle you use. Need it!
I was wondering, how do you do when you’re done eating with your fork or reusable utensils ? Do you clean them there ? Do you put them straight back in the bag and clean them straight when you come back home ? That’s been my dilemma for a long time ... I have a kit but end up never using it because I don’t want to put them all dirty in the little pouch they came in, and always forget to clean them when i get back home
Kelyrin's Cooking & Bento in my workplace there a sink in the choice area. There I rinse my lunchbox and fork, but I don't use the sponge there because I don't feel comfortable using it. I much prefer washing my stuff at home. I hope it helps.
I always use reusable fork spoon and knife. They are child size bamboo in a little cloth pouch. I just wash them in the bathroom or where ever. They air dry in the cloth bag and I never ever wash them at home. They are always clean and ready to go next time.
Your comments on keys made me chuckle Melody as my partner has many more chunky key rings than keys and he's always jingling them in his jacket or pants pocket haha It's hard being a minamalist partnered with a non-minamalist but he's a work in progress! lol I also like carrying a small foldable fabric enviro bag with me in my regular handbag which I find useful if need to carry a few store bought items or other things when I'm out.
Melody, I love that u got designer bags, they will last a lot longer and really ties into your lifestyle I think. I remember your blue bag. Is blue still your favorite color?
Been looking for an extra large foldable grocery sack. Your link is for the standard size. Just wondering where you may have found one large enough for your outings? Also, can't wait to see what you are building in the Shop!
Melody, love this video and your black bag is beautiful. I am going to try the RMS Makeup. Do you use the bronzer on your eyes also? And do they have a mascara? I am 65 years old and am trying to simplify my life. Thanks for all your videos and I love Pat too!
I love Melodies older videos. Long dark hair, original apartment. I stopped relating to her once she cut her hair and dyed it and started talking about other things. I still watch the older ones over and over again. And I'm always interested in purse organization.
I have to have glasses, sunglasses and readers ha! Not much downsizing from that and a wallet, so I have a great Chinese Laundry backpack _ very small- that I'll use if I'm really going to be out and about. I have a great Lumix camera I love too :). Then I have about 10 lipsticks because why not? Lol I could pare down but the prescription glasses bulk it up to not really mattering. I'm never doing bificals, I don't care how big my purse gets!
Melodddyyy! I struggle so much with trying to keep a small bag! help! I carry a password book, check book, notepad (jr. Tul), bathroom drops, lipstick, halls, gum, floss, steel straws, hair band, mirror, color palette list, my work badge, work creds, wallet, perfume, tide stick, hand sanitizer, calendar, phone, extra feminine product, a purse hook, and i am sure i am missing something. I always think I need all of these things, any tips or suggestions you have please!! Or anyone!
Omg Madison, that's a LOT of stuff, my advice to you would be to keep duplicates of certain things in different places, like your desk or your car, so if say you need gum, you can get it from anywhere else but your purse. A physical therapist once told me that carrying heavy bags is the worst for your back!
@ Madison Angulo...I suggest you empty the contents of your bag into a basket/box/container...and each time you go out add to your bag only that which you absolutely know you will use that day...within one month you will have the necessities in there...the rest is clutter.
I have never been much of a purse person and don't wear makeup so I have made a conscious choice to only carry the following on me at all times: 1. Cell phone/Wallet (the cellphone case doubles as a wallet that has enough room to store my 5 most important cards (ID, Debit Card, Health Insurance, car insurance and library card) plus the key card to my daughters day care. 2. Keys - Home, Mailbox and car key, on a small carabiner 3. Water bottle - has a loop on it that makes it easy to carry on one finger and still have my hands free 4. Sunglasses (optional, I also keep a pair in the car if I forget) This does mean that I always have to be wearing clothes or jackets with enough pockets to hold my keys and wallet, which isn't a problem for me because I don't buy clothes with no pockets (there should be a law that ALL clothes have pockets but that's just my opinion). Now, I do cheat a tiny bit because on weekdays I usually have my work laptop bag with me where I can store other essentials like pads, lip balm, inhaler, etc. and on the weekends I'm usually traveling with my daughter and I will bring her small "diaper" bag if needed (she's potty trained now so it really only contains some extra changes of clothes and snacks). And of course I own a car and have lots of essentials in there too like kleenex, music, phone charger, etc. which helps me not have to carry so much stuff. Thinking back on my younger days when didn't have a car and was away from home all day, i had to lug around a huge backpack to carry all of my "essentials", boy I sure don't miss those days! :)
I'm excited to be working on streamlining my personal space. I admit it goes a little against my nature, so I'm trying to integrate habits, feedback systems and even more decluttering. My family doesn't understand minimalism that much and they're a little worried, they think I want to live in a van and run around naked now, lol! (I would totally live in a tiny house if I could, though). Still saving for that cordless vacuum :D
I will have to check out those beauty products....love that glass pot the lip gloss was in. What is that sweater you are wearing? It is SO pretty Melody!
When I'm out shopping I only carry my phone (I take a picture of my grocery list so I don't have to carry paper around!) and my wallet in my pockets! And reusable shopping bags, but I stick them in the cart right away. For work I bring my lunch, a fork/spoon, ibuprofen, chapstick, sunglasses and gloves/hat (I work outside), and sometimes a pack of gum. Does anyone else looove not having to carry a purse around when shopping? :D
hi. question about minimalism: why should i get rid of a spare pair of for example sneakers or socks or whatever? they might not spark joy cuz clothes in general dont spark joy to me cuz i dont care much about clothes and such, but they will be useful in the future, otherwise when I need a new pair I'll have to spend money. I'm not that far in my minimalism journey to be able to get rid of useful stuff...but I kinda want to...any advice?
Claudius Buser why don't you try putting the things you are unsure of, or may be spares, into a bag or box. If you don't touch them in 6 months, get rid :) you won't miss them! X
Good question! Don't worry - to be a minimalist you don't have to throw away extra things you'll want later. The idea here is to keep your life free of clutter that will weigh you down. I store extra clothes, supplies, etc. in a box where I can get them later when needed. That way they aren't cluttering up my clothes drawers but I also don't have to waste money re-buying those items! Some minimalists might value a 100% decluttered environment and would rather throw away extra socks, etc. and spend a little extra money... but not me, and it sounds like you're in the same boat. Did that help?
I bought the titanium spork and it's awful. It's gritty texture. It's impossible to lick food off sandpaper. I'll try RMS but I have very chapped lips and it's very hard to find good ones. The pangea balm is ok, they all smell great. Lavender is good for while I'm at work, perfect spot for aromatherapy
If it’s a day out and about, I’ll have my wallet, phone, pressed powder, lip balm, maybe a lip color, sunglasses, eye drops (I wear contacts), and panty liners...just in case. And keys, duh. lol
Love your video, I use Stella McCartney grocery bags in my purse. If I may I would like to suggest never put your cell phone anywhere near your breast area I also see women putting them in their bra this in the long term is potentially dangerous.
Wow! And here I am with multiple bags! I’m definitely going to decluttering especially since I’ve only had 2 bags! Thanks for showing us what’s in your bag!
In my bag I have a purse, a book, my kindle, my phone, a small pouch bag where I keep my painkillers ( I need them for my flat fleet as they are really painful after work if I do not take the pain killers) , migrastick, and headphones. I only have two keys my house key and my work locker key. But they are kept in coat pocket as I have it set in my hands as a weapon in case I need it as I walk to wrk at 3am in the morning. X
OMG Melody, I have been waiting for this vlog for so long... One of your first videos I watched regarding travel, showed your purse, possibly navy blue. I viewed so many of your videos hoping to catch a glimpse of that bag again, Thank you for this video
Please: less with uncountable nouns - less plastic...correct but use fewer with countable nouns - fewer credit cards, books....sorry a pet peeve of an English teacher.
What size (ml) is your waterbattle? Just for reference. Your bag is to die for.
Hi Melody.
I mostly use a tiny bag ( louis vuitton mini pochette)
I carry the basics
Cards ( drivers licence, debit cards, 2 most used reward cards and insurance card)
Cash - I do cash to keep an eye out my spending
Keys ( 1 key & car key )
Air pods - because I like music when out or I watch RUclips if stuck somewhere.
1 lipstick 1 chapstick , concealer & tissues. That's it. Then I carry my phone in my jeans pocket .

Loved your bag. I knew it was Stella right away. Her designs are gorgeous.

Hello everyone! Melody, if possible, could you link the hanging laundry bag? Thank you.

I love rainy days, too. I live in the desert 🌵🌵 I have donated many purses, However, I must admit Ive kept more than two !!
Miss you melody!! Would love new videos!!!

The water in a beaker on a tiny shelf is cracking me up. 😂 Love your channel. ❤️
I love Melodies older videos. Long dark hair, original apartment. I stopped relating to her once she cut her hair and dyed it and started talking about other things. I still watch the older ones over and over again. And I'm always interested in purse organization.
Lol it's so cute how you say "baby water bottle" and "baby notebook" instead mini or small :)
"I'm usually eating or chatting." ME, girl. I totes understand. 😍😂

love everything, esp. stella bag! But I do find pot lipsticks finger messy so avoid them, need that little water bottle!
I have never been much of a purse person and don't wear makeup so I have made a conscious choice to only carry the following on me at all times:

whats the name of both your bags, can you still buy the stella one and where did you get the lovley beige one from, its lovley ! x
thanks ! x
I will have to check out those beauty products....love that glass pot the lip gloss was in. What is that sweater you are wearing? It is SO pretty Melody!
Where did you get your clear mug?
where did you get that cardigan??
You amaze me in that you never run out of great fresh ideas to share! 🌺
I get 3% cash back on the Sapphire Reserve card. Highly recommend it, if you travel a lot. Great video btw
Hi! I love your bag! Does it have a little structure or is it like the other falabella bags that are squishy?
When I'm out shopping I only carry my phone (I take a picture of my grocery list so I don't have to carry paper around!) and my wallet in my pockets! And reusable shopping bags, but I stick them in the cart right away.

Love that purse!
Does it bleed up on your lips!
Love your cozy sweater! Is it chenille? Where is it from?
Can U show us the outfit, sweatshirt, and jeans with your purse? Thank you. Great video!!!
Wow thank u so much Melody
Can you put a link to the Stella bag?
No mirror? Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Melody, do you go out without your driver's license or any other ID? lol, that's really minimalist!
I always love your videos and thank you very much for the tips.
Love your hair up. 😊
If it’s a day out and about, I’ll have my wallet, phone, pressed powder, lip balm, maybe a lip color, sunglasses, eye drops (I wear contacts), and panty liners...just in case. And keys, duh. lol
What is the light pink bag you had next to the black bag? Also what is the wrap thing you are wearing?
Raven Rodriguez I think it’s the Chloé Faye bag.
Love your video, I use Stella McCartney grocery bags in my purse. If I may I would like to suggest never put your cell phone anywhere near your breast area I also see women putting them in their bra this in the long term is potentially dangerous.

I love your videos! 🤗
