There should be a way that RUclips pushes this kind of video to relevant population groups - in this case ALL South Africans. It only got 55k view on one of the best channels YT has to offer - crazy. Having the perspective offered in this talk, can help open ones mind to why social cohesion is so important in bridging the economic and digital divides that the SA society face.
I love the fact that he did not mention race at all, in a country where race is the main is the main causation of ongoing inequality. He does this to emphasize the fact that regardless of certain/ different race we are, ALL people deserve equality and should be treated as such. And the only way to reach equality is by showing COMPASSION, MORALITY AND HELPING others ,our neighbors, friends and colleagues. Viewing these aerial view photographs of landscapes and even the world/ planet itself makes you realize that there is only ONE race,.. the HUMAN race.
Equal opportunity for all, not equality for all. If everyone is equal, the whites and Africans will both be living in huts outside of the dictator's palace. Equal opportunity will allow Africans the right to build themselves up easier to own their own property. Remember you have to work and grind to have a good house. The issue for the africans is that there is no opportunities for them to grow.
Inequality is hard to tackle....we could start by making sure that the privileged don't teach their children that "those people are dangerous" or "we're better than them"... Also, the rich must take their kids to these communities so that they have a fully informed reality about their cities.... How many of your white friends have visited Khayelitsha or Nyanga? Once they do...and they have compassion things will change.... And of course mindset for all concerned is a Must
With our bill of rights on equality i think South Africa is not a just society. Rich or poor we have to learn to live and work together on reasonable solutions. Considering Houtbay and Emezamoyethu situations we need to get public servants who understand that people needs to access basic necessities like toilets, schools and health facilities in reasonable numbers.
The law locks up the man or woman Who steal the goose from off the common But leaves the greater villain loose Who steals the common from the goose. The law demands that we all atone When we take things that we don't own But leaves the lords and ladies fine Who take things that are yours and mine. The poor and wretched don’t escape If they conspire the law to break; This must be so, but they ensure Those who conspire to make the law. The law locks up the man or woman Who steals the goose from off the common And geese will still a common lack Until they go and steal it back!
David Chester . I like what you have written some two years back. Are you able to tell me how you got this inspiration ?. Whatever you have written, of how much I could understand is so true
Drive thru Palo Alto CA home of Stanford U all the luxury homes then cross the one street into East Palo Alto & just a block away enter one of the tenement buildings 4-5 stories high multiple apartments on each floor all cement top to bottom except for the metal fences.
Before people watching this want to do the same, please take note we have drone (RPAS) regulations in South Africa. Flying your drone just where you want, how high you want, over buildings and people and roads is not legal. Flying in national parks is illegal, as is flying within 10km of an aerodrome.
A lot of South African Whites are able to commute & work average jobs in England & other euro countries were the british pound & euro goes a very long way in SA. Also you have ppl from European countries that visit South Africa, fall in love with the beauty/real estate, and realize that their currency goes far in SA.

Watching the first time May 2023. Powerful and more relevant today than before. Covid proved the horrors of spatial planning.
White south africans know this. Especially the Gauteng based ones.

This is the result of capitalism system. What happened today in South Africa is a result of the inequality between people
