Right on! This is the flavor I was looking for. I use Rice Vinegar instead of regular white vinegar though.
I made a couple different ketchup and pineapple based sweet and sour sauce recipes found online. While both were decent in flavor, they were not the restaurant style I was looking for.
....When I've tried a few different restaurant red/pink sauces I didn't taste any ketchup or pineapple in it.

I just made this tonight, the taste is perfect. It is the most flavorful recipe I've found on RUclips and tastes just like the red sauce at the Chinese restaurants in my area. HOWEVER I think there was a little too much corn starch, once it cools it gets way more gelatinous than I'm used to. I will definitely make it again but without so much corn starch. Thank you!!❤️

I used a rice vinegar. Turned out great. Though I believe just regular white vinegar is fine also.

Great no ketchup..People think Chinese use it for sweet and sour.. I've worked in a few takeaways and they never use it..Water sugar and vinegar and that's it..

You know what makes it red? Ketchup! Add the ketchup! Also substitute cherry juice for the water or hibiscus tea for the water. You’re welcome.
