In culinary school I learned the best way to mix corn starch is with your finger.
That's the way I do it too. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙂

✅🙂
Great teacher 👌
Thank you! 😃
Yum
✅🙂
I love egg rolls but they HAVE to have S&S sauce. Thanks for this recipe! Yummy!
I like mine with the sauce too. My wife likes hot mustard on hers.
Very nice. I would like to see your take on Mumbo sauce.
Sorry, I don't know what Mumbo sauce is. 🙂
I might try a little appricot jam in it, or maybe cherry jelly. I once had such delicious sas sauce at a restaurant. They said that there was appricot jam in it.
✅🙂
@kathleennorton7913 I had a great one at a restaurant and it was made of applesauce.
Hi Ken!
Oh boy!! This looks great...and Easy! Its after midnight now and i want eggrolls😜
I bet it would be good with pierogies...😛
Question: How long can i keep it in the fridge?
It should keep about as long as an opened bottle of ketchup. 🙂
I've been looking for a recipe for this that doesn't require ingredients I never buy. I can't wait to try it, have everything I need and I just got a bag of wings, I'm going to throw them in the crock pot with green peppers and pineapple and serve them with rice. Thank you so much 🥰
Sounds good!
Lol never buy is hilarious. Makes sense
@@Treatsandthreadscom some things I don't buy because I don't use enough. I live alone so try making small meals.
Thank you Ken always Goodman Lord bless you nd fml
Thanks for watching!
I have rice vinegar. Would that work? (Side note, you can also freeze it too if you have way too much or not planned on having it for a while)
Yes. Thanks for watching! 🙂
I'd add a few dashes of crystal hot sauce to mine. And some dark red paprika instead of food coloring.
Thanks, now I'm hungry!❤
✅🙂
Ken, would you tell us all the things you like to eat this sauce with?
Ha! Well it's good on anything you might put ketchup on, like French fries. 😊
i just made this...very good. i added tablespoon oh honey
✅🙂
This works great but I use honey in place of the white sugar. Good video!
✅🙂
I always add maraschino cherries and the juice of same, along with pineapple chunks, green peppers, onions.
Thanks for watching. 🙂
@Janis342 recipe please?
Can I use light soy sauce? I only usually have light soy sauce in as I use it for fried rice, do you think it would work well with this recipe?
Yes, absolutely! Enjoy!
@@KenClick ok, good stuff. I’ll give it a try. Cheers!
Do you need to use the cornstarch
Every ingredient serves a purpose.
What type of Soy Sauce, Dark, Light etc.?
Any will work, use what you have on hand! 🙂 I invite you to explore my channel for more great videos! ► youtube.com/@KenClick
Just made this it's awesome. Just goes to show. You can see how the Chinese restaurant owners are always in the casino with the money they make. This is cheap as chips. 😋😋😋
✅🙂
Try it with everything you did but add 2 table spoons of tomato puree, it makes it so much richer 👍👍
Sounds good. What do you do with the rest of the tomato puree?
Yes, that sounds like an idea!
I have all the ingredients but was not keen on putting tomato ketchup in. I wan't to try and keep it as natural as possible so was wondering about finely chopped tomatos instead. I might give tomato puree a try.
@@KenClick anything I use it in spaghetti or make a ham&cheese sub with some puree spread I'm weird 😂
I tried with some finely chopped tomatoes and some tomato puree and it was vey good.
👍😁
✅🙂
Why doesn’t the corn starch dissolve at all even in boiling temperature?
If yours did not dissolve you did something wrong.
I changed the recipe a little bit. I changed it to 1/2 C of water and 1/2 C 100 % Pineapple Juice. 1/3 C of sugar and 1/3 C Distilled White Vinegar. I am going to use Arrowroot instead of Cornstarch. Coconut Aminos instead of Soy Sauce to make it a little healthier. I am looking forward to see how it turns out.
Enjoy!
Wow idol ang sarap naman ng niluluto mo idol all supr po si lutong bahay ni mg Romy falguera god bless po idol silipin mu din yung kusina ko salamat po idol
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I'm glad I didn't have to go buy pineapples.
✅🙂
Can we add honey 🍯? Maybe one tablespoon!
Add anything you like!
I just watched a Chinese style sweet and sour and they added everything you did. But say no ketchup as you only need the red food dye and that's how the Chinese make it and they have never used ketchup
Make it the way you like it. That's what I do.
@@KenClick I would use ketchup myself. The video said the real deal is no ketchup so it was confusing. But I'll try both to see what I prefer but have a feeling ketchup will win.
HANKKKK GET THE SWEET AND SOUR SUACE NOT BBQ HANKKKKK-
Don't forget the oatmeal > amzn.to/45CkWlJ
Missing star anise fella...and something else. But im not going to let you know as thats why all my chefs over the years in the Chinese takeaway i own, have their own special way of making it.
So you are saying my simple homemade version doesn't measure up to the version your chef(s) make at your Chinese Takeaway restaurants? OK... in fact I would expect a more sophisticated sauce from a professional Chinese chef. 🙂
looks like tomato soup
🔴
@@KenClick just it made to thick on the video
This will be more flavorful if you add onion and garlic powder, or if you don't have that, just fry minced onion and garlic. I guess strong flavor doesn't suit westerners' taste.
Understanding that people have different taste preferences is an important step in becoming a better cook. 🙂
@@KenClick i know, that's why i said that it doesn't suit westerners' taste. Nothing offensive since even those in the same area have different tastes.
No thanks! I prefer pine apple juice , brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce and some vinegar. No food colouring!
No problem. No Charge. 😊
@billaustin3790 I used to go to a Chinese restaurant in Michigan. They served the BEST sweet and sour sauce. They were all moving to California and I asked him his recipe for his sweet and sour sauce. I remember apple sauce, vinegar (wouldnt it be apple vinegar) and I cant remember the rest. Would you have any ideas? He said its super easy!
The list of ingredients provided here in this video aren't enough to make an authentic sweet and sour sauce as in take out style. What you will get from this recipe is a poor mans sweet sour sauce with key ingredients missing. You must add other things besides water like pine apple juice and plum sauce and tomato paste etc. I've tried this recipe and it's not great or good even.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm surprised you bothered to watch the video in the first place (given your knowledge of how to make authentic Sweet & Sour sauce). I know how to make great biscuits so I never bother to watch videos on how to make biscuits. But I'm even more surprised that you took the time to make the sauce just so you could say you didn't like it. Well done! 🙂
Bottom line, you need to add other stuff besides the ingredients listed, like at least pine apple juice or else it's just not going to taste very good. I tried it your way and it was kind of disgusting overly sweet and bland at best. It tasted more or less like watered down ketch up and sugar mixed with vinegar and some food coloring.
@@Insanegamer615 Another round of bashing. Hopefully you feel better now. God bless!
I'm not trying to bash you at all, I'm merely telling you that your sauce could use some improvement and taste whole lot better with just a couple more ingredient. For future reference practically all sweet and sour sauce contain pine apple juice and perhaps you should experiment with some, who know you might actually be glad that you did. Have a nice day!
No problem. When you said it was disgusting it seemed like bad manners and bashing to me.
Thank you
You're welcome!
