    Sirius also said once: "...my parents, with their pure-blood mania, convinced that to be a Black made you practically royal..." so maybe it was not just the pure-blood mania but indeed their royalty.
    From what we know about actual history it actually makes sense. The blacks have a french family motto called "toujours pur", the lestranges have obviously a french name. So it is quite likely that the ravenclaw sisters married into french magical royalty. Rowena lived about 1000 A.D. in Scotland. About this time the famous MacBeth was king of Scotland but shortly after the english controlled scotland. In 1066 William the Conqueror and the french normans conquered Britain. Leading to a french royalty all over the kingdom. If we assume that the blacks and lestranges were part of those norman royalty, it would make sense for the ravenclaws to meeting them and marrying into those families.

      @Ami-zi6si 2 года назад +6

      People like to forget what house the unsavoury non-slytherins were. Meawhile good slytherins like Andromeda Tonks get forgotten.
      Or even the good qualities of otherwise bad people, like Narcissa and Belatrix were both loved by Kreacher cause they treated him better than Sirius treated him (not to mention Regulus who literally realized how evil Voldemort was due to how he treated a houseelf and then drank the potion himself giving up his life rather than risking the elf again), get forgotten. People like to gloss over the fact that by the end of his 4th year Harry had been attacked by all of his defense against the dark arts teachers (even tho we recognice lupin only did so under the effects of lycanthropy), with 2 of them doing so on the belaf of voldemort yet only one of those 4 teachers were possibly from slytherin - tho we dont know for sure since as far as I can find Barty Crouch Jrs hogwartshouse is never canonically stated. Quirell and Lockheart were both ravenclaws. I think its kinda funny that its such a widely known "fact" that there wasnt a witch or Wizard who went bad who wasnt in Slytherin but the canon text keeps disproving this by consistently giving us non-slytherin main or secondary badguys for the first 3 movies, possibly even the 4th movie, and this is even acnowledged by the wizarding community since Hagrid is believed to have opened the chamber of secrets the first time despite being a gryffindor, and Sirius Black was publically believed to be one of Voldemorts staunchest supporters despite also being a Gryfindor. In 5th year all of the center and front stage badguys are Slytherins, including Umbridge, but it is unknown what house Fudge is in, and by book 6 our only reall antagonist is Voldy himself with a hint of a reluctant Draco. But that means that confirmed 3/7 with a possible 4/7 of the books atleast 50% of the villain are non slytherins eith an even higher degree if one takes into account that what is publically known and recognized by the ministry.
      Out of all that tho my most mindboggling thing Ive noticed is that Hagrid knew Sirius well, and would definately have been aware that he was a Gryffindor that went bad, yet still says that there wasnt a witch or wizard who went bad who wasnt a slytherin. So theres definately a bias and a myth or atleast a widespread belief to the point where even people who knows for a fact that it isnt true will still repeat it as fact

      @@Ami-zi6si My goodness, does no one understand the phrase "There wasn't a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin"?
      I get that it's from Hagrid, so the grammar's pretty messy, but, guys, the way you're all determinedly misunderstanding it is absurd by now.
      (Aka, you're not the only one making this endlessly frustrating mistake, Ami, so, nothing against you personally. I'd just like to get this clarified.)
      It's not that hard. Here, I'll translate Hagrid: "If you are sorted into Slytherin, it's pretty much a given you're going to go bad."
      He says nothing about the other three houses consistently turning out angels. And, to be fair to Hagrid, Slytherin House IS where the values are that most "future dark wizards" would best align with, and so is where most "future dark wizards" end up being sorted.
      Now, I agree, him saying that was wrong. It was based on Voldemort, and on the vast majority of Voldy's followers that had been sorted there; and it skated over the graduates of the House who did not go on to be Dark wizards or witches. (Keep in mind that in that instance, Harry was asking for information about Slytherin and Hufflepuff, having just learned that they were Hogwarts Houses, and was particularly interested in those two because of his talk with Draco Malfoy in Florean Fortescue's ice-cream parlour.)

    I do like how this story for Ravenclaw and her sisters mirrors the Black sisters. Bellatrix and Narcissa both marry into prominent pureblood families (one of them even being Lestrange) and then Andromeda would be the stand in for Ravenclaw, rejecting her family's ideals and going on to raise her daughter. Sort of how so many other characters throughout the series can find mirrors throughout history.

Snape is a whole TED Talk, but whether you see more villain or hero re:war, on a personal level (especially as a teacher) he was pretty awful. Regulus got in too deep, realized he was wrong, & tried to make it right as best he could. He didn't know there were other horcruxes, but drank the poison to get the locket, ordered Kreacher to destroy it, & left a replica with a note for Voldy saying "Yeah, it was me & I want you to know it. A lot of what the story tells is about redemption. Harry's dad and malfoy are actually the parallel characters. James Potter starting off with a superiority complex and a bully, just like malfoy. Whilst Snape started off more like Harry, with his rough beginnings. Snape just let his anger and bitterness consume him. While Harry didn't. Malfoy, like Harry's dad, could've gone down similar paths to being bad guys, if not for the love of the people around him. Malfoy in the end got a very similar kind of love, from his mother, and Snape to a degree, and through Snape, Dumbledore. He didn't become a hero, but he never quite fell as far as voldemorts death eaters.

She also releases information based on what the readers want to know. This is common among many authors as it is actually an excercise used to help with writers block. When you get writters block when trying to write a minor charecter many creative writing classes teach you to think of a backstory for that charecter even if you never add it to the story. @@slimnagirac3393 I don't think you'd need to be very rich to have such a view of the Snape family - they seem to be the literal coffee-grounds of society; adding in that the Evans's still live in Cokesworth, a city seemingly founded purely on the factory and overall rather poor-ish, as well as their probable Walisian roots (based on the last name and people from Wales flooding into the industrial centers in that general area), I wouldn't place them to high up on the social ladder (even though one could argue that Vernon might then have been out of Petunia's league).
      Though that wouldn't, in my head-canon, disqualify them from also having some form of magical heritage, as I feel like the Celtic fringe (Wales, Scotland, Ireland) has produced not only a bunch of note-worthy muggle-born wizards, but is also home to Hogwarts itself, for example.

    I think the reason that Ravenclaw's relic is a crown is because it's supposed to open(metaphorically) the wearer's third-eye, giving her more intuition and insight than normal. The crystal used in the diadem was a sapphire, according to the Harry Potter lore. Since the middle ages(in real history), sapphires were associated with dispelling negative thoughts, helping with concentration, enhancing creativity, and depth of thought. Ravenclaw house prizes wisdom, intuition, learning, wit, and intelligence. In spirituality, the third eye is a part of a string of seven chakras(energy centers in the body). Each has an emotional quality attached to it. Starting from the base of the spine, there is the Root chakra(security), Sacral chakra(creativity), Solar Plexus chakra(self-worth), Heart Chakra(love), Throat Chakra(communication), Third-Eye chakra(Intuition), and Crown chakra(psychic wisdom).

      Staying like a ghost it's not a punishment.. I read somewhere that JKR says that a magician or a witch can become ghosts if they're afraid to move on or have some unfinished business or simply choose to stay in this world.. The catch is that once you're a ghost, you're always gonna be a ghost.. There's no light to go on to rest.. That's why the ghost in Hogwarts are so old and keep "living" there..
      Helena was jealous of her mother.. Of her knowledge and believed that if she had the diadem, she will be better that her mom.. She stole it and run away, like the upper comment says.. Rowena was devastated and when she fell she will die, she asked the Baron to bring his daughter back, because she knew the Baron was in love with his daughter and he will find her at all cost.. When he finally did it, she refuse to go back with him so he kill her.. He felt guilty and kill himself, that's why he has blood in his clothes..
      Don't remember if there's info about why they both stayed in Hogwarts or even if the talk o have interaction.. It would be interesting to know that..

    Have you guys thought about doing your founders series as a fan-made radio theater podcast? You wouldn’t need to worry about technology or CGI to do it well, we would all follow it and even volunteer to audition for it (probably) and if it did well enough, it could get noticed and made into a tv series.

      Not necessarily. Maybe ti was meant as a symbol to have them all linked together. She uses symbolism a LOT in this series, and thus it would be fitting here too. Also, people learn how to view life and interact with others by watching their elders of their family, so all of them having a look of disgust (or resting witch face - yes I made a dad joke out of a Harry Potter discussion) would pass on to their descendants. As another example of symbolism, there is always one in each family that changes their view and goes the opposite direction of their family.

      @@kathzemiau7234 it could come from the Tonks line, in the same way that many muggleborns are actually descended from squibs who married muggles (and then some generations pass), couldnt the metamorphmagi gene have traveled with the magic gene on the squib line? What if the four founder items all have an enchantment similar to Gryffindor's Sword.
    Helena's cup can absorb any food/drink it doesnt know and make it.
    The diadem absorb information it doesn't know and tell it.
    The locket can learn any unknown potion/chemical and help produce it.

    • @brianpotter2812
      @brianpotter2812 Год назад

      That's brilliant and deserves a like :) I don't know about potions for the locket though, but maybe it could learn languages it's never heard before or something simply by being held by a person and them speaking it (that could be how it learned Pareseltongue and only opens to those that can also speak it). Since the bloodline of Slytherin only liked pure bloods, the chances of it learning anything other than English and Pareseltongue are next to nothing however lol.

    I've been listening to the audio books, 10 hour factory shifts make for great listening time, and had a thought. Could Mad-Eye see a bogart's true form? The way I understand it they only take the form of what scares a person when they confront said person. Mad-eye is able to spot one in grimmauld place from at least 15 feet away and throug a floor, would the bogart know it's being watched and transform or does it just remain chilling and Madeye dosent tell anyone what they look like for some reason. This has probably already been discussed but I thought I would see what the general consensus is if there is one

    Love this and totally accept the theory! My "jaw drop" moment wasn't the crown, it was actually the Prewitt connection. I literally had a Princess Diaries "SHUT. UP!" moment on that one!
    Two things I can't help thinking...
    1) Who thinks this is Ben's way of trying to reconcile his Ravenclaw? "Yes I *started* as Ravenclaw, but through the generations, that now counts as being Slytherin!"
    2) If Ben is going through the 5 stages of grief about continuing to get sorted into Ravenclaw (& I'm counting his last sorting, because gaming the system to get the result he wants? TOTAL Ravenclaw move), then he's gone through denial, this video I think has a mix of anger + bargaining, so we only have one stage left before he finally reaches acceptance. 💙💛💙💛 #bringbackthebronze

      @@amistadward7693 they likely were if they had descendants, seeing as the timeperiod this happened, atleast in the muggle world but pressumably also the wizarding world as they have the practice of weddings and such, having a child while not being married would have been a big nono, especially if youre from nobility like Rowena likely was. So Rowena was likely married, since Helena was likely legitimate, and it seems like the wisarding world also has the practice of the woman taking the mans name, but I do wonder; if Rowena was highly famed and acclaimwd before her marriage, and was the eldest daughter of a noble house with no sons, if maybe her husband would have taken her name? Which would be the only way for Rowena to be married with a legitimate daughter while also being born into the Ravenclaw house
