Dimash didn't speak or understand Chinese/Mandarin, and was still able to learn the song phonetically in only one week at the time of that performance. He wanted to honor all the people from China who reached out to him, and did the song as his special "Thank You" to all his fans there

Beauty is what I see through out of the whole performance. Beauty in Dimash's voice, in the melody, the lyrics and background story, the stage, lighting, camera angles, his suit, hat and scarf and himself. There is so much beauty here in this performance that can move us to tears!

This is one of my favorites song, so WOW! and Dimash emotions WOW WOW WOW!!
I get the sensation of being taken up by the melody line then going wherever it leads. If it is very beautiful or has a high note or crescendo then the sensation becomes flight. That is what happens to me when I listen to Dimash. Every time he hits a high note, I feel like a feather that has been blown way up into the air and is held aloft by the wind, only to be blown ever higher as Dimash's voice goes from one unbelievable note to the next. It is so enjoyable that it immediately becomes addictive, so there is the need to listen to every song he ever sang to look for more of these beautiful songs.
That is a very accurate description of the feeling you get when listening to a performance like this with such a special person performing it. Very few artists has the ability to transcend you to a different world and make you forget about logic and instead just feel and be in the moment, so i'm really glad I've found one of them. It seems like there's always an intention with every note as well, not just to impress, but to make the song complete! I'm excited to watch the next performance. So many exciting things yet to watch! :)

❤️❤️❤️ Oh my, Cato, I so understand the effect this had on you! I was shaking, with goosebumps and tears rolling down my cheeks the first time I saw this. For me it is simply the most beautiful song I have ever heard and I listen to it every night before bed. Many times it still brings tears to my eyes. Dimash’s voice and way of performing is mesmerizing and hypnotizing.
There are many Dears (Dimash’s nickname for his fans) who tell the stories of how Dimash’s voice has healed or helped to heal their physical and mental maladies...including me. I have never been a member of a fan club until I found Dimash. My fellow Dear, Rae Ward, was pretty much restricted to bed due to stage 4 cancer when she found Dimash. He brought back to her a vitality and purpose she hadn’t felt in a long time. She dreamed of seeing Dimash in concert . Her dream became a reality when she traveled to China with another Dear who is a physician. Not only did they attend the concert but they also met Dimash and extended their vacation to include a trip to Kazakhstan. The story is so heartwarming!
I really loved this performance! Such a beautiful and emotional song and the execution of it made it come alive! He's got so many dimensions and layers to his voice that makes every performance different and unique! This has become one of my favorite performances of Dimash i have watched so far! Thank you for sharing that with me. It's a beautiful story and it's so nice to hear that he can have such a positive effect on people and bring purpose back into their lives! :)

You are so right. His voice gives me feelings... his voice transports me somewhere. He is just so amazing. He is not only a technical singer but also an emotional singer. That's why a lot of people are drawn to him.
I just cant explain how amazing he is. I listen to a lot of great singers but I have never been a real fan. He is my first and last.

It really penetrates my soul. I've watched this performance for more than a hundred times, and it always has the same effect on me: I'm in tears. Nobody can teach me how to cry. But Dimash's singing just has that effect on me. There are English subtitles, but I don't need them, nor do I usually read them. Even if they were in my native language, I would not read them, and the effect would be the same.
This song really got to me as well, and like you said, I don't even need to understand the words to feel the song and what it is about! This is definitely one of my favourite performances of Dimash that I've watched so far! :)

Hi Cato, a beautiful, beautiful reaction to Dimash's awesome performance of this song which apparently is very close to the hearts of Chinese people. Everything you described was spot on, Dimash has this knack of getting his emotions over to his audience no matter what language the song is being sang in. From the very first time I heard this and the hundreds of times I've watched tubers react to it I am aware of the tears rolling down my cheeks almost without me being aware of them and that happened again watching you !! 👌👌😊

I'm new to your channel and I love your reactions. The performance made me cry every time I watched before I even knew the back story. BTW, the woman in the song did go back to China once as an ambassador to Japan. Her lover from long ago had died though so she never got to see him again. She passed in 2014.
The original is the Japanese version by the title 行かないで by Koji Tamaki in 1989. In 1990, a Cantonese Chinese version by the title 李香蘭 was released by Jackie Cheung in Hong Kong, and later was translated to Mandarin Chinese for the Mandarin-speaking markets by the same singer, for places like Taiwan. The lyrics are actually slightly different from the Japanese version, as the Chinese version was more about a broken heart/love lost, while the Japanese version is about the sorrow of what happened to the Chinese born Japanese singer. The version sang by Dimash was the Mandarin version, obviously since the show was on Hunan TV in China. You might notice an audience member was lip-singing to Dimash, because this song is well known by Chinese

I agree that this performance is very affecting... it's so beautiful that you just feel it, and it's hard to describe those emotions. This is definitely one of my favorite performances. Just a note I forgot to mention, Gloria Wu's video is pitched down I'm pretty sure, and it also seems very slightly slower than usual. For you reactions, I'd like to suggest sticking with Gloria's videos for Dimash, as I am pretty sure "Late Autumn" was the only video that was edited (I'm guessing for copyright reasons that no longer apply). The reason for this is just because her videos have the English subtitles, and I think those are so important! Our Dimash has the gift of taking us on a journey every time he sings. He transfers his feeling and emotions to us through his beautiful voice. Dimash always knows the story of a song before he sings it, no matter the language so that he can sing with the passion and emotions of the story. This was D's first attempt to sing in Mandarin and had to learn this very difficult language in less than a week. e is indeed a very gifted young man. This is probably my third favorite of his performances. I listened to this song growing up as a child, I watched some of the clips of the actress (my grandparents had VHR tapes). It's a beautiful song to begin with (the singer that sang the Chinese version originally is also an amazing singer in his own right), and the way he sang this was so tender and mournful. I definitely cried like a little baby when I heard this rendition the first time.
Definitely one of my favourite performances of him so far- it really touched me which is not very easy! I need to look up the original version and give that one a listen for sure! :)

Episode 4 of the singer was a direct attack on everyone's soul. The only one who didn't sing a sad song was Tia Ray, the rest was heart breaking, soul wrecking songs. I spent that entire hour crying T_T
