I remember helping my Granny make these when I was a young girl. We would peel and cut the apples. She would spread a sheet over the top of the well house and we would lay the apples out in a single layer. At least once a day we would turn each piece. Once dried they were packaged and saved for later to make the pies or applejacks as we called them. I am so excited to have the recipe. I can't wait to make some. Now if I could find a recipe for the bread pudding she made. Thank you for sharing this and bringing back such sweet memories. God bless you!!

What a TREAT! I’ll be doing these as soon as I get the apples‼️👍🏽 I love how clean and neat you cook and how delicately you eat/taste! It’s not easy to cook as good as you do and be so scrupulously clean!

This recipe reminds me of our neighbor (Mrs. Carter) of many years ago who made some wonderful and absolutely delicious fried apple pies. She demonstrated her techniques to me (as I recall I was around 12 years old and I am over 60 now). Unfortunately, (being a pre-teen) I didn't truly appreciate what she was attempting to teach me [scratch pie crust, etc.] This neighbor was a GEM and a fantastic lady, as YOU are. Thank you for sharing and reminding me of a precious individual.

Chris, these pies look so delicious and make my mouth water! My sweet little Mama was "famous" for her fried pies. At church functions, people grabbed them first before they were gone. I've never made them, but this makes me want to try. I love your videos!

I'm 68 years old and am the first to admit that I am a lousy cook. I hate to cook. It's a common joke in my family that I can only make three things that are edible. Cooking shows have never interested me but I came across your channel and decided to watch it. I'm glad I did. You explain things in detail that even I can understand. I've watched several of your videos now and am excited to try all the recipes. Up till now my idea of cooking is to put cut up hotdogs in canned spaghetti. Thanks for all you do

I am making these pies using dried apples I dehydrated myself last Fall. I just got Pillsbury pie crust yesterday. I love the way you cut the dough. I normally cut out circles of dough and then roll the scraps. Your way is much more efficient. In addition I made apricot filling yesterday to use in a few pies. Thank you for the recipe.
