I work for rotisserie restorations in Griffin Ga. I do these installs all the time but I recommend repairing any wiring issues in the car before installing this unit. I would also recommend doing a draw test before and after the install. These systems are awesome but sensitive and can be damaged when voltage and grounds are not correct. Congratulations on your new unit!
Hey I have been watching your post of the Dakota Digital Dash I was just wondering to see more detail mainly the location of the Positive Transition block and the positive and would like to see part 2.
Also do you have the measurements of the metal plates you put the VHX and the measurements of the metal you put the painless, negative braker block, and accessory block on
I just purchase this for my 70 Chevelle.. Hopefully someday Dakota can finish there dash cluster dirty work with a plug and play wiring harness. Now i get to cut and slice the wires and find were they go for my turn signal's and brake lights and hi beam lights.
Hello, I’m trying to install this on my 71 Monte Carlo w 4speed. My shift linkage is in the way of the speed sensor.. any tips on how to get around this ?
Awesome video, I just ordered the VHX for my 70 Chenille SS 454. Did you do any other videos on it? Also have you done any videos on the fitch refi, thinking of doing that next to my chenille but have seen some bad reviews on it. Did you have any issues with it? Thank you, great channel.
I don't have videos specific to the VHX gauges, except some clips of how great they are. I have done several videos on the Fitech. I did have an issue with my first unit, as it had a sticky throttle. I think you will find a lot of people will claim issues with a number of different EFI kits, some are valid issues, some are user error.
Pretty sure I can. Since I am in Canada I typically have it set to KPH in the digital speedo. Note: not all the functions can be seen in each of the digital dashes.
Thanks for posting this. Extremely helpful. I’m getting ready to tackle this on my ‘72. Just curious how hard it is to get to the screws to remove the gauge cluster. Do you only need to pull the dash out partly to be able get access to unscrew the fasteners holding the gauge cluster to the dash? Can you access all of the fasteners from the top of the dash or do you have to get under the dash to reach the ones on the bottom. TIA for any additional insight!
I have a question so basically the vhx box replace your orginal junction box and you just use reminding wires is there a step by step procedure I like the way you set your up?
The instructions Dakota Digital provides are very very good. The hardest part is tying into the Chevelle's original wiring to know which wire is the blinkers and such.

Nicely done. Doing this on my 68 impala. My foul language and cursing in SC heat would prevent me from uploading and videos of the install to YT.

Excellent advice. I especially did a complete rewire behind the dash on my car.
What shop you work at
I had a feeling that was going to snap and sure enough, it did.
What a great video!
Dude I busted out laughing when you broke the sensor lol
I was watching this video right before I got my gauges and when I started installing mine, the temp sensor did the exact same thing! doh!

I 100% agree. I looked all over to get one clip so I could just plug into the original harness and avoid splicing, but no luck.

Anyone know what screws are used to mount the gauge housing to the actual dash like at the 4:27 mark

Is the final gauge install up? I have a 71 Monte Carlo with the same gauges in white. Can you get a digital MPH from under the speedo?
Pretty sure I can. Since I am in Canada I typically have it set to KPH in the digital speedo. Note: not all the functions can be seen in each of the digital dashes.

As seen in the video, you don't need to remove the entire dash to get the gauges in and out. Access to the bolts aren't that bad.

What type of gauge and size did you you use to cover the hole the left of the radio
do you mean the vacuum gauge left of the radio?
I have a hole on my dash exactly at same spot you have that guage to the left of the radio. I was asking what you used to cover that hole.
@@nellotsogkas1443 The gauge was put there by the previous owner. The stock dash should not have a hole. I assume it is a 2 5/8" gauge.
Anyway to get zero miles since I'm putting new engine?
The dash comes at 0 miles on odometer. After 100 miles it locks in. After that you will have to call Dakota Digital to see if you can reset.
@@SS454LS6 so when I install it will say zero until I drive 100 miles? Nice

Not bad but you never show how to hook up previous (old) wiring harness to back of new cluster or computer block.
Where’s the part showing hooking up oil sensor 😂
You need to get new dash only cost $399

How about changing the name of your I'd to "shit I didn't finish"
