Perfect timing. With the end of summer near, the needles come back out to prepare for Fall and Winter! I don't have a very diverse stash, but I canntry to make more happen with the single skeins! Thank you for the elaborate talk on Shetland and my designs. So kind! Your a great knitter, you'll sail through it and come out as the Princess!

Thank you for this! I have a gorgeous gradient lace weight cake and have been looking for something special to knit with it. You gave me several ideas. As far as patterns to recommend, someone on RUclips recommended Vary the Gate by Casapinka, which is a pattern specifically for using those stunning skeins of fingering yarn that tend to color pool or stripe in ugly ways. It never fails to break them up and recombine them in constantly changing patterns.

It’s so interesting considering this! My more recent solution to single skeins problems has been to only buy multiple skeins, enough for a sweater or a top, and my stash definitely needed that. But I like to use a ball of DK or worsted to make mittens; I have made Woodstack Mittens by Jane Richmond.
I love that little shawl you mentioned for fingering weight yarn and will find it on Ravelry! I also loved the Kate Davies hat.
Mostly I find it so inspiring that you’re working with very fine weights of yarn! Your laceweight and cobweb shawls are beautiful and ethereal indeed! Doing the Westknits MKAL is going to seem gigantic and quick in comparison! ☺️

What a great episode, I like all your suggestions and will come back to see the favorite patterns of all your viewers.
A one skein pattern I particularly like knitting was Turn It To The Max by Joanne Bint. It was made of mohair from an independant dyer. The fun of this pattern was the improvisation, it said to do multiple yo whenever the yellow color was changing to pink. It was so much fun, I knitted it in grey November, it felt like knitting sunshine. I always love wearing that shawlette.

Perfect!!! I need a couple options.
I almost exclusively use fingering, make a lot of sockheads... I think I'm the only person that wasn't in love with the musselbourgh.... No desire whatsoever to make socks.....🤣😂🤣
    Love the shawls!!
I always make schlankets for some reason.

I enjoy making hats for charity, and the Wister and the Manhattan are a couple of my favorites. These two patterns yield stylish hats for those folks who can’t afford to purchase their own. Again, Wister is a free pattern in this year’s Year of Hats in chunky/bulky weight and I knit Manhattan out of worsted weight. Charlie’s Hat is an adorable kids’ hat out of fingering. It has three tiny poms on the three points at the top-so cute!

Loved your recommendations! I’ve done fingering weight shawls. Just as socks were a hurdle for you, a lace weight shawl would be a challenge for me. I am mostly a monogamous knitter and a lace weight shawl would seem to go on forever for me. Your work is beautiful!

Great topic, I love hand dyed yarns but because they are a bit of a splurge for me I tend to make the mistake of buying single skeins and then don’t know what to do with them. I love the mitt pattern. Will definitely be making those this fall.

Irina with my winnings I purchased 2 sizes of gold stitch markers, Twist Fingering Weight Yarn colorway:Persnickerty Too and a cat in mug progressive keeper. I have never knitted with this kind of yarn. So I was going to ask what you would recommend for a pattern to knit using this yarn? I was watching and listening to David's chat he has on Fridays and he said you were doing this One Skein Wonder so I came on and I saw that one of the patterns you recommended was a shawl. Thanks again!!
