I'd advise any aspiring DJs to not skimp out on a laptop. Sure, you'll be able to squeak by with a i5 MBP but the current version of Serato & going forward are CPU thirsty especially if you want to dabble with Stems & that's where you'll start to see older gen laptops start to struggle. I realize not everyone has M1/M2 money but it's worth the investment. Buy Once, Cry Once & future proofed for the next 5-6 years at the very least.
To all the beginners watching - this is in now way a beginner setup - you should start with much cheaper equipment before buying any of big ticket items. If i was starting out i would get the gorilla stand and the laptop stand and some very very durable headphones. Most of us old heads learned on sb1's (real belt drive turntables). I would still recommend those and you will need a good laptop and getting a used mac is the absolute best advice he gave hear. - Nice setup CEE B
Nice setup, I also had the full Rane setup, the Rane 12mk's and the Rane 72mk2. The Rane 12mk2's are in my opinion is sort of an upgrade due to the load button, the displays, the rca's and you can use them with Traktor via a noisemap signal. I recently picked up another pair of Denon SC5000's due to the versitility of them. Speaker's are by choice of how you like the color of your sound, laptop well also depends on the version you need, I try to switch out laptops every 5 years. But the setup you have is built creativity. Only thing I will say is hold on to any pair of turntables, they do come in handy from time to time.
👍When you get the money, you could upgrade those speakers to a pair of Adam Audio A7X active studio monitors… they’re incredible👌 I bought a pair new, then another one second hand for a booth monitor..
I bought a 16 in. 2022 macbook pro m1 1tb $3000 + RANE ONE controller $1600 plus a gold skin and decksaver $210 m-audio 8 air interface $300 plus monitor speakers and stand $500 a S5 kontroller $700 plus traktor pro 3 software $100 and $1000 worth of Beatport tracks...... Total arou d $7400.00 not a amateur this is my third time around with new laptops and and tables over a 15 year span.
Ive got one and love it. Yes it is a bit expensive relative to other folding ones but it goes on sale now and then too. Never had an issue with disconnecting etc and charges my mac too
I was looking at the Reloop Hub Stand myself, love the design etc. My laptop 💻 stand is currently is the Ultimate Support Hyper HYP-1010 had it for a few years love it but if anything happens to it!? I’m replacing it with the Reloop immediately LOL. I DO have the Reloop iPad/iPhone folding stand which is clutch all by itself
i got phase Since the Original day they begun and was created. and owns Technics, M7’s, probably end up getting a Pioneer REV7 controller just to have, i has owned Roland 808 all plastic and Trash🥵😩knobs kept falling off Too, i owned DDJ1000 from pioneer kool just did not like RekordBox, I loves my Technics 1200’s, and i got Pioneer 1000’s Too, 😊,Rane 12’s i could have gotten long time ago🤦🏽♂️😳😆, just been Skipping, But i will Copp Em’ and Get them customized, i just totally loves DJLife😁✌🏾⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
its just false that mk2's isnt worthy upgrade. You got the bpm display, quick release on the control disc, and most important is they added rca outs for dvs mode
Nice set up, I pretty much had the same Rane12/S9 set up. I have used Phase and Turntables before & I personally think this set up is great if you don't have a vinyl collection and just playing from your Laptop.
Those RANES are pretty…dusting off my 1200s since phase dropped…but these would be next if I can get rekordbox support one day 😂 I prefer Serato really but rekordbox is required for the clubs soooooo….proper vid and tips thanks for sharing.
