Your videos are among the best I have ever seen for technical explanations of tricky or advanced concepts in easily understood language. Great delivery and visual appeal to boot. I've shared several. Great job!
I have a PHP project but I want to add a different meta for each page but the meta data is uploading dynamically same for each page. How do I resolve the issue, sir?
We do make product recommendations, but only after doing strategy work with our customers. Each tech stack has its own strengths and weaknesses. I would say however, that your focus should be towards cloud based tools. The cost savings of elasticity are significant if you get the right solutions.
Adaptive Metadata Solutions handles the SQL stack well in my experience. It had some constraints around Oracle data sources and Microsoft BI Endpoints. It all comes down to the meta integrators used by the tool. Imho IBM Informatica and Manta (they are engine behind Collibra) were the most impressive. We are using SAS Data Governance solutions currently that uses the MIMB integrator,. MIMB is the most widely used having bridges for all major vendors, but it's not turn key by any means. And this comment is focusing on the technical data lineage aspect and not the business glossary / data governance capabilities. I've seen others demos like Octopai etc., and they all seem to claim the same things. I would recommend you understand your use case well enough to make sure the vendor understands it. And then ask for a demo of that. And good luck on the journey!
Very good video. Great graphics and very clear explanation. I must admit I was a little confused on the description of Metadata, it sounded to me like you were talking about Data Lineage, not just metadata. Isn't metadata just "data about data" whereas Lineage is where the data came from? BTW, my thinking could be old, it's been a long time since I looked at this area so perhaps the technologies are merging now. Thanks again for the video, I'll check out some of your other ones.
Thanks Anthony. You are correct, its just that most tools include data lineage as part of their "metadata management" platform. I probably could have named it "what is data lineage". Most metadata management tools allow you to also managing the naming conversions etc.
This is a great video, super well explained!
