Hellooo Karen, great to see you, what a lovely afternoon you and the girls had making cookies😊 naughty Leo though😂 he just wanted to be taste tester😂
It’s funny isn’t it that phrases, words etc change across the pond, it sounded like you said woozy ‘could care less’? We say ‘couldn’t care less’ because could care less means you care some, couldn’t care less means you don’t care at all. Interesting the change isn’t it.😊
What a touching moment with you and Robin, we had a similar moment on the escalator yesterday while shopping, I think it’s lovely that after all these years we’re still affectionate, we’re truly blessed aren’t we. ❤😊
Thank you for sharing with us too you and the family decorating the Christmas tree, another touching moment. As always, much love and light to you.🥰🥰🥰🥰

This was a fun video, I enjoyed watching the cookie decorating. The frosting looked nice and it was lovely you got to spend quality time together chatting and creating. Btw I am sure Leo was making his 🍪 to share with the birds and the squirrels. He was just tasting it to make sure they’d like it. 😆
Karen you are right, leaving dough overnight to chill and let the glutens rest is definitely the best way to get good cookies. Another tip is to put the rolling pin in the freezer for five mins before rolling the cookies to keep the dough cool during the rolling process (just remember to quickly pat the surface dry with kitchen towel before using).
Keeping on top of chores is essential at Christmas because things can get messy so quickly and people tend to let the month get away from them and end up rushing at the very end and exhausting themselves; but it should never come at the expense of family time, getting in touch with friends and having moments of joy.
The advice you gave about it not being women’s responsibility to make sure everyone enjoys their Christmas is so right. After all each person is responsible for seeing the good in every occasion and if they don’t then that’s their personal business. Also, if it is a problem between family members then, like you say, it isn’t down to the women of the family to always be expected to play the arbiter or peacemaker; especially if the ones who don’t get on are adults.

Beautiful message today. So authentic. My adult married daughters have told me a few years ago not to do stockings. It’s a lot of little things like gum, chap stick, etc. rather just do away with it. They each have children and get so much. We like giving experiences like zoo memberships or day trips and museum gift cards. That lasts all year long. We have a cookie baking day with my daughters, so in laws, now 8 yr old and 3 1/2 yr old. Its those times we’re together that’s most important to all of us.

We go to the laundromat once a week. I have found that if I fold the clothes there they get folded but I still don’t put them away until the day before we go to wash again. On the other hand, if I fold at home they will just sit in the basket until I get tired of looking at it. This year has just been to much for me. I will be glad when January gets here.

This year we have an almost 2 year old grandson who is into everything so I have decided to only put up my tree and put just a few non breakable ornaments up. Not putting up any of my other decorations and I don't feel bad about it at all because we won't have to stress about him breaking anything while they are at my house.

We stopped doing Christmas presents including stockings because we are old and we don’t have kids. I give baking to friends and neighbours. We do a small three foot tree and our nativity and that is all. No mess, no stress. Not only at Christmas, but all year, if I am not feeling well or tired, the mess will still be there tomorrow. NO STRESS.

I stopped sending Christmas cards and also doing stockings. My boys are now 19 & 22 and we do a family trip as our gift. I will have a few small useful gifts for them under the tree. We do a big yummy Christmas eve dinner and big Christmas morning breakfast but for Christmas dinner we relax and watch holiday movies and order Chinese. Loved watching you beautiful ladies making cookies together.

Wise words Karen! I try to finish shopping before Thanksgiving, but that didn't happen this year. I am done as of today...just need to wrap and mail. It sure helped to make a list earlier this week and really prioritize what was necessary this week. Turns on some of the cleaning was not! I no longer make holiday cookies, since kids are out of the house and not around to eat, so that has simplified things!

I’ve always done Xmas simply-I buy foods from our grocery store for my grown daughter and parents for gifts, some ordinary foods and some fun foods. I spend half an hour at the store a few days before Xmas, so easy!

Here’s what I don’t do anymore: send cards; do stockings; buy gifts for every family member or friends; put up a big tree; decorate every room; make Christmas cookies; put up outside lights; host parties.
Here’s what I do: greet people on FB or by text; my husband and I exchange a couple of gifts; give $$ to our son & grandchildren; have 2 small trees; decorate the main living areas in a simpler manner; hang wreaths on the windows outside; attend Amer. Legion party; attend a Messiah performance at a local church; scale down the meals to something less extravagant ( usually ham & 3 sides) plus dessert. It’s still lovely & meaningful but much less stress❣️🎄🎁

I clean and tidy the house to make it nice and cosy, not perfect.
I cut down on who I buy gifts for.
The food is planned, and I prep all I can the days before.
And I ask for help. With everything. Will you do this while I do another thing?" Nobody wants me to be exhausted, so they say yes.

I was confused by what you were doing. my mom did not ever flour the dough, she put a little flour on the board, then she floured the rolling pin. and always chilled the dough.
