Rod Hull and Emu's Pink Windmill Kids: Try a Little Harder

- As a grand finale to Emu's Magical Christmas Show (which wasn't actually a children's programme, believe it or not: just look at the audience), Rod and Emu join the gang for a high-energy rendition of Try a Little Harder from the frankly insane film The Water Babies. This was originally broadcast on Sunday, 27th December, 1981, and as far as I know performed 100% live on stage: music, singing, and dancing - the lot. Technically it features the Corona Kids rather than the Pink Windmill Kids, as this pre-dates Emu's World by about week or two.

Apologies for the dreadful picture quality of this recording. If you've got a better copy - or any Rod/Emu/Grotbags at all, for that matter - *please* get in touch! I'll happily get what ever you have transferred professionally to DVD at absolutely no cost to you. See my username above (beginning "Videot...")? Feel free to drop an e-mail to that at gmail dot com.
Now this is one of my favorite,
Mine too! Sarah and Emma are so adorable here
@@mgrace386 yesss... Eh hey... Where've you been...?? finally you remember your youtube account password 😂
@@mrmanusia I’ve been busy lol and I’ve been more of a commenter lately
This is my favorite song from the Corona kids before Emu’s World!
These day's the message would be "don't bother because you've got a nice safe space."
Oh god. Horrible mistake. *days
The current generation could do with being a bit more like the Pink Windmill Kids, as far as I'm concerned... ;-)
Agreed. Fortunately, I was brought up on Formula 1 than whatever else is on Sunday afternoon TV from 98.
Anything that gets us away from the "Everyone's a winner" sports days et al is a good thing!
Absolutely. Even if you're forced to support a rubbish League 2 team.
Omg they're all so cute here 😍
I prefer this version over the original tbh :)
1:53 emma-lou, Julie w, and catrina
She looks like Edele and Debbie Anne mixed together
I recognize Emma-Louise, Catrina, Lorraine, Emma, and Aysha.
There's one in particular I'm not sure about, but it's possible that all of the dancers in this vid were in the 1982 series of Emu's World. Unfortunately the picture quality isn't good enough for me to be certain.
VideotapeFTW Julie (the girl with the really long blonde hair in s2 of Emu's World) was in there too!
Francesca as well I think!
@@mgrace386 I also see Kate, Sarah J, and Natalie Payne, I think.
@@mgrace386 and yeah I think Francesca is there as well!
0:41 is that Sarah jeffs and Emma ?
Yes, that's them.
AWWWWWWWWW!!!!! They’re so adorable! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
@@mgrace386 definitely they are 😱
1:34 love this part
Where Tuhin Dasgupta
He was only in Emu's World series 2. This was a 1981 Christmas special.
@@VideotapeFTWVideotape FTW It Tuhin Dasgupta From Emu World Series 2 Is India 🇮🇳🕌🧡🤍💚
whithout catrina its not the same anymore :(
or.. is there a toddler catrina?
Yes, Catrina's there - she was one of the very originals! (Extreme right of shot at 0:15.)
VideotapeFTW ahaah very interesting, she was the soul of the windmill kids :(
Do you have any idea what Rod is doing today?
I'm sorry to say that Rod Hull died long ago - back in 1999, in fact. Someone wrote a very nice piece about him at the time: www.newsfromme.com/pov/col236/
VideotapeFTW Oh wow. That's sad to hear.

The Emus legs needed to be a little longer. his feet are almost always off the ground....and Emu's don't fly...and their to heavy to carry.
I'm happy to confirm that it is in fact a puppet that Rod carried around with him.
1:41 I whip my hair back and forth 😂
