I have watched lots of video as regards oet reading but I can boldly say yours is the best.... The way you use your hands to explain it keeps a lasting memory in my head. You nailed it. One million words are not enough to describe your extraordinary pattern of teaching. It is understatement to say that you are wonderful, but you are "too-derful"... lol impressive.
This lecture along with the one that was mentioned at the beginning of the video are extraordinary in regard to easing the part C for me. I always had problem with such a questions and now I know what to look for in the question. Thanks
I didn't understand fully how to crack part C reading only after seeing Beth's video and lectures, she is the best teacher indeed . Thank you Beth for such great and calm way of teaching.
I think the answer to no 8 question is actually buttressed above her quote, " But with no much of our physiology affected, an effective therapy - other than sleep - is hard to imagine" that is the only option(B) mentioned in the passage. The quote did not reflect in the options in other words option A, C and D are not given.. My opinion though, i stand to be corrected!
Hi Hope, Good point! Often in OET the other three answers are wrong which means that yes, the one left can be the answer! It sounds like you're doing well with your preparation and thinking like a successful candidate :D Remember that the question for number 8 is 'the quote is used to suggest...'. That means that the quote is going to give you the answer. Here the quote is saying 1. that people want a clear solution to their problems, and 2. that everything in the body is affected. This means that we have to use inference (thinking outside the box). If the whole body is affected, it is very difficult for anyone to get a clear solution to sleep deprivation. So, yes, C is the answer!
It's not. It's all about finding the gist or detail. Synonyms will help you sometimes but not always. Something you could try to help with Part B is: 1. read the question (but not the possible answers), 2. read the text, 3. read the answers and choose the best option. Doing this helps you to avoid being distracted by the possible answers :)
