I've been hitting a lot of "how-to guitar" YT videos over the past few months. Papa you are by far the most laid back, easy to understand tutor I have found so far. Definitely big kudos to your efforts - please keep them coming. Thanks!
I've heard about four different variations of strumming with people teaching this song.. like you said you're strumming here might not be exactly the same as the record but when you haven't heard the song for a while.. in your brain it sounds pretty close.. at least for me anyway.. as what I'll say..🤔 a beginner on guitar.. like some others have said.. a full playthrough at the end would be helpful.. that being said 👍👍🎸 if you would consider doing.. father and son from cat Stevens.. Mother from Pink Floyd The River from Garth Brooks or Dust in the wind from Kansas.. that would be great thanks.

Thatnk you for simplifying the chords and strumming patterns. I’m just getting back to playing. A bad auto accident wiped out everything I knew, so I’m having to relearn everything.
I wish you would have gone thru the Cadd9 strumming pattern the way you did w/ the G strumming pattern.... because I'm totally lost after that.. :(
Decided I will learn this song next. Easy chords, just have to learn the strumming. It's in my key as well so since I can't sing for reals, I will try to sing w/ the guitar. lol
I think your videos are good and taught well. It could just be me here but breaking it down section by section is VERY helpful BUT what helps me really grasp the song is after it's broken down for it to be played in it's entirety. Hope you add this one little thing!

The easiest way to tune the guitar half step down is to put a capo on the first fret, tune it in standard tuning then take the Capo off and it's a half step down. You're welcome :-)

It's a Martin 000-18 Golden Era, which features an Adirondack top and Mahogany for the back and sides. They are no longer in production, but you can find them on Reverb from time to time.

Michael Turcotte looks, and sounds like a Martin swomgt. Recently discontinued. Can be found at a bargain in the used guitar market.
