    It might be your preference but Ls engines are just flat out better than the old school small blocks. I’m 55 years old and have plenty of both. You are saying facts.

    My deal breaker that made me do the LS swap was the constant floats sticking on my carb……and hard cold starts in the rainy season!!!! Best thing ive over done to my nova and c/10…..

    4.8=293 / 5.3=325 / 5.7=346 /6.0 = 364 / 6.2 = 376 / 7.0=427 …..for those of you that are curious……, 4.8/5.3 are my favorites just because they make plenty of power depinding on the wieght of the vehicle, they are cheap and readily available and best of all they litteraly sip gas copared to their 4” bore 6.0/6.2/7.0 counterparts….i have a LSA supercharged 370” (LQ9 bored .030 over) in my nova and a Vortech v-3 supercharged 4.8 with a 220/220 cam in my c10 and they both make over 550+ hp but the 4.8 uses a fraction of the amount of gas!!!….just get what you can and build it

    Liked and subscribed, you contacted me once when I posted about ls swapping my 68 Firebird, it’s getting done first weekend in November, totally stoked to get this done, modern reliability, overdrive trans, start it up and go, no more stoopid leaks. A win everywhere. Got all the mounts, tank, lines ready to go. Only thing I’ll need is to shorten the drive shaft. Been a Benz tech for 20 years and as of late been completely building my 68 bird from boxes, got it running and have been dealing with overheating issues in Chicago. Got it all figured out but still swapping. I don’t need help, but would help assist with any questions that other people need help with. I love wiring and ls swaps have really no down side. I’ll watch more videos when I can

      My 68 bird looks like crap on the inside, outside has paint and the car has zero rust, drive it as much as I can, neglect the good days for working on it and drive it. Much more fun driving it than sitting at a car show. I hope others feel the same way

    I have a few 1st gens camaros, and you can daily drive them or travel extended periods without running hot. Some pros even then to LS swapping would be cheap HP/TQ and better gas mileage for sure. Weight as well if going from iron to aluminum. Better engine design or updated if you will. I agree with everything but old schools can be daily driven with old school iron engines.

    • @krustyclassicsgarage
      @krustyclassicsgarage  Месяц назад +1

      I daily drove a 69 nova in 2014 that had a rebuilt sbc/th350. It ran great and never gave me issues. But, after driving an LS swapped classic I won't ever go back to a gen 1/2 sbc or any old school engine unless I just want to build something and keep it all old school. Also, even iron block LS's weigh quite a bit less than any old school iron engine. Its all personal preference though. I like old school engines too. I personally think cammed old school engines sound better than cammed LS engines.

      @@krustyclassicsgarage numbers matching 69 SS X22 with 396/375hp. Wouldn't touch it. 68 Camaro SS with non matching 350/th350... bought a L99 6l80 for it for $3450 verified running with 84k. I got a 350/th350 combo from another guy needing money for $400 and traded it for a brand new LSA in box, no brick or lid. Rails etc. Still a killer deal. Dropping it all in 68 when I gather more parts and your channel contributed to my decision. Could've went LT1 for $4500 with trans but your channel again contributed to the L99; and price! And yes, nothing beats the sound of an old school block and high lift cam set up. Can feel it in your chest lol no Diddy

    I have an ‘05 Suburban that I bought brand new that now has 215k miles on it and the 4l60e tranny is flaring. I’ve been trying to decide if I should sell it as is or pull the 5.3 Vortec and try to do an Ls swap into something. You just convinced me to keep the motor. Do you use 4l60’s with any of your swaps? I also have a 79 Camaro with a 454… I know exactly what you’re talking about with the overheating challenges and other issues..

    Man I've been watching your video's for a long time and I appreciate the great advice and knowledge but I have a question for you. I have a LM7 that I'm going to put into my 1991 Toyota Cressida so I need to do a front sump and was wondering is there anything that is mandatory to change to make the engine as reliable as possible (I know you always say leave the engine stock for your first swap but this engine has some carbon in the intake and exhaust ports of the heads so my head is telling me the completion might be lower than stock or it might burn oil) 🇿🇦🤙🏻

    • @krustyclassicsgarage
      @krustyclassicsgarage  Месяц назад +1

      The only thing I personally recommend changing is the oil pump and pick up tube o-ring while its out. The reliability is in the engine itself. The carbon is going to happen no matter what on an engine being used. You can add fuel additives to combat that but no matter what carbon is going to build regardless.

    There's plenty of 2.0 ecotec at the wreckers. Or the modern 3.6 both cost less because ls guys believe that chevy only makes ls.😂

    Hi,
    So I have an 89 Suburban originally TBI.
    I have a Holley sniper with Hyperspark ignition and box.
    Running a 4l60e with msd trans controller which I swapped for the original 700r4.
    My small block went bad and I sold it. So I’m working from scratch engine wise. I was thinking while I’m at it maybe switch to a junkyard LS.
    Does the sniper system with Hyperspark make a sbc comparable at all or is the LS just way better and I should sell all my Holley sbc stuff?

    • @krustyclassicsgarage
      @krustyclassicsgarage  Месяц назад +1

      @Braxton5340 The LS is just a much better version of a sbc. All LS's come from the factory with 6 bolt main and stock aluminum heads that flow great for stock heads.

      I want to keep it as simple as possible which means I don’t want to have to rewire all my gauges and whatnot.
