I love how accurate the automatic weapons are. When you switch magazines before it's empty it's just a magazine exchange because there's still a bullet left in the chamber. However, when the magazine is empty there's a weapon cocking animation. If I remember correctly CoD was the first game to show this small but an important detail
Here's a little list of the mistakes I have noticed regarding these weapon depictions (Spoiler, it's still better than COD :WW2) : -M1911 : Nothing. The kick is actually pretty cool looking. -P08 Luger : 1. The player doesn't seem to use to magazine release button. 2. The P8 doesn't have a rear sight that wide, but then again, that's a mistake a lot of game have made (even BF1) so the weapon is easier to aim with in game, so I think it's intentional. -STEN SMG : 1. Holding a side fed weapon by its magazine is not recommanded, considering it can make it jam. But to be fair, it was a very common practice at the time. 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the STEN have a triangular basic front sight? -PPSH 41 : 1. The PPSH uses an open bolt mechanism, yet the in game weapon works just like a close bolt one. 2. I know it's fort balance purposes, but the real one was actually very controlable. M1 Thompson : 1. The player doesn't seem to use the magazine release lever. 2. The weapon actually lock back at the last shot when using straight magazines, but to be fair, it's a very common mistake and very few games show it. MP 40 : 1. Holding an SMG by its magazine isn't recommanded, as it can cause jams, but yeah, it was also a very common practice. -M1 Garand : Nothing, yet in COD WW2, its reload animation is utter shit. -M1 Carbine : 1. The player doesn't seem to use the magazine release lever. -STG 44 : 1. Incorrectly depicted as an open bolt weapon that even lock back on the last shot. (There was actually a prototype version of the weapon which was open bolt, the MKB 42, present in Red Orchestra 2, but it's not the model present in the game) 2.The player doesn't seem to use to magazine release button. 3. It was recommanded to hold the weapon via the magazine well considering the barrel would get pretty darn hot and the whole area below it was made of steel. In other words, firing multiple mags on full auto like that would have burnt this guy's hand at some point. -BAR : 1. The charging handle is shown back at all time, whereas in reality, after the first shot, it would get forward and not move during the shooting. 2. Rear sights are overrated. 3. The player doesn't seem to use to magazine release button. -BREN LMG : Nothing. - Mosin Nagant : 1. I'm nick picking there, but the version made with a curve bolt was only made for snipers, this guy would have been given a straight bolt one most likely. 2. The entire clip goes inside like the weapon uses in bloc clips. 3. You can't use a clip when a scope is mounted on the weapon. Lee Enfield : 1. You would have to get rid of the first clip to push another one in. 2. If my memory serves me well, I think you cannot get rid of a clip by pushing the bolt forward on a Lee Enfield. -Kar98 k : 1. The internal magazine always appear empty. 2. The Kar98k doesn't use enbloc clips. Kar98 k scoped : Nothing. I actually don't get why they fucked up the Mosin Nagant Scoped one. -Sprinfield : Nothing. -MG 42 : Nothing.
