Nissan needed to keep either the Maxima or the Altima, there are people that still want a sedan. This is a big mistake. Honda and Toyota understand that.
The Sentra is but the Altima is second .. I feel like all of their vehicles are good especially in a time when people need cheap reliable vehicles like the Versa .. It's sad that they will only have the Sentra in their lineup .. Infiniti has no more sedans or coupes ..

@syedtafseerabbass7810 I mean if you are on top with maintenance and aren't beating the hell out of it the car will last my currently has 20,850 miles and zero issues going to do the cvt flush this month since it's do at 30k but might as well and I've been doing its oil changes on time and zero issues. But who knows I know the Camry and Accord have a better reputation but since I only use it as a daily and drive a total of 20 miles daily for work it will last for a good while.
2019 Altima 2.5 SL here, great vehicle. Simple, enough technology (adaptive cruise, good sound system, carplay), and cheap to run both in gas and repairs. I know that i can run this thing for 10 more years and it will be peanuts for cost.
Camry rules; cannot justify passing up the Camry. However, if you just can't stand the Camry, the Altima would be my second choice as the current-gen Accord looks like a late 80s police car.
I actually like the Accord’s conservative looks better than the Camry. And the Altima still looks fine to me, plus it’s less expensive than the competition .
No. I won't get any vehicle that Nissan took behind the barn and discontinued. I don't know what the people at Nissan are thinking all they had to do was redesign the car and put a e-power engine in it. Some people love driving sedans.
As much as people bash on the Altima and its CVT when I had one I did lots of HW driving and despite being rated 38MPG i averaged 45, and when i was in an accident it saved my life. I keep debating getting a new one with AWD.
I’m not a big fan of Nissan, but this car actually looks ok! I love how everything fits together. Sad that cars are slowly going away. I’m more of a fan of cars than SUVs. The only SUVs I like are the Ford Escape and anything from Toyota.
They had AWD since the current generation came out in 2019, but AWD was only available in the smaller engine and not available in the VC turbo (discontinued for 2025).
@ you can definitely feel the difference in horsepower and torque.. i had rented an Altima on a trip (2.5 version) and it was a very noticeable difference. You literally have to put the pedal to the metal for it to move but with the 2.0 you don’t have to do that.
The Altima is gorgeous in the green with the bronze wheels. I drove a brand new 2024 Nissan Altima SR Premium that was over $34,000.00 and was AWD and in the Gray Sky Pearl. The same day I test drove my new 2023 Nissan Kicks SR Premium as the 2024 for the Altimas came out much earlier than the 2024 Kicks. Anyway my Kicks SR Premium stickered for $26,130.00 and the Altima SR Premium stickered for over $34,000.00. However the Altima was missing Adaptive Cruise, 360 Surround View Cameras, No LED Taillights, No Heated Steering Wheel, No LED Fog Lights, No Digital Auto Climate Control, No Bose Audio System, No Driver Seat Headrest Speakers, and so on. Now the things it did have that my Kicks did not was a Sunroof, Wireless Charger Pad, AWD, Larger 12 Inch Touch Screen But it was to straight up and close, and a Power Driver Seat. However the additional features that the Kicks had like the Heated Steering Wheel, Adaptive Cruise, 360 Surround View Cameras, and LED Taillights were more important to me. I did not need AWD, I do not use a Sunroof cause its to hot in the Summer here, I do not need a power seat because I set it once and there it stays, so I could not justify the additional $8,000.00 for what the Altima was lacking and all though it was gorgeous it sat extremely low and was very hard to get up and out of. The 2023 Kicks SR with Premium Package was a steal at $26,130.00 MSRP.
I own a 23 Altima SR Premium AWD in sky grey pearl (Canadian spec). Got it in 2024 as a certified pre-owned with only 11k km. I love this vehicle. I traded in my 2020 Corolla SE for it and the space, comfort and value (when slightly used) is insane. Of course there's a few things that really do annoy me about it like any other car would. I don't like the tan headliner, lack of ventilated seats, flat bottom steering wheel (a perfect circle is easier to use - sure the flat bottom looks nice), transmission isn't the best in cold weather and the fuel economy in the city with awd is not the greatest - averaging about 23 mpg city. It's excellent on the highway though. I also notice a lot more fit and finish issues compared to Toyota, like panel gaps and creaks. But there are a TON of excellent things that don't make me miss the Toyota. The sound deadening is excellent - dual paned windows makes the cabin incredibly quiet. Huge 12" display for the premium model, BOSE audio system, the zero gravity seats are the most comfortable seats I've sat in, AWD, and the space - even though less on paper, feels more spacious than the 2023 Camry in the real world. Reliability of the CVT was the only concern I had about this vehicle, but I was told by a Nissan tech (not the one working at the dealership I bought it from), that the Altima is actually the most reliable vehicle in the lineup and they hardly have any that come in for warranty work. I've got the extended warranty just in case anyways, but I really love this car and wish people would give sedans a chance. I must admit, the car could seriously use at least 20-30 more hp/torque.
I owned a 2004 with a V6 lasted 300,006 miles and sold it for 500.00 the young man is still driving it , why they went away from that engine is beyond me.
Sadly, it's the only midsize car that has a naturally aspirated, non hybrid, non turbo powertrain option. How far this segment has fallen in the last 7-10 years. No more 3.5 V6s.
It was the beginning of the end for Nissan when they changed Maxima and Altima beyond recognition. Maxima was the sport sedan, Altima was a smaller sporty sedan, slotted between Civic/Corolla and Accord/Camry. Instead they grew the Altima to almost the same size as the Maxima, which was a niche car for them.
The best car I ever had was a 2015 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL. That V6 was so quick with that CVT, and if you follow the recommended maintenance, get the transmission flushed every 30k miles. It was solid. It's sad they got rid of the 3.5 engine.
My parts manager at O'Reilly's told me that over 50 percent of the stores parts inventory was for the Altima, 2007' to 2018 If I remember correctly. They're zoomy but you gotta keep them up on maintenance period.
My employer had me work out of state several times and I had two rental cars with that piano black shiny parts on the interior both rental cars had low mileage and the piano black parts specifically the ones on the shifter were scratched extremely hard to ignore one was a jeep the other one was a Nissan rogue . I can’t imagine what it would look like 5 10 years down the line when both vehicles were not even a year old .
I used to own Nissan Laurel Altima in middle east, back in 90s. It had inline 6 with manual transmission. Wish Nissan brings that car back as a substitute to Altima and Maxima.
Looks nice but two things I noticed: - Front airconditioning is single zone only? (not Dual Zone?) - No rear A/C vents? Here in the Philippines, our Toyota Camry (purchased September 2013) has Dual Zone A/C and Rear A/C vent. I am surprised that after a decade, that Nissan Altima doesn't have Dual A/C and rear aircon vent
Altima was always a competitive sedan. Very comfortable. At $29K for an SR, that’s decent value. Nissan is making a mistake eliminating the midsize sedan. This is an attractive car.
Looks great, SR badge is sick, wheels are beautiful, dual exhaust, rear diffuser, AWD, just need a turbo to make it 250hp, will probably outsell the Camry 😅
So they put in the larger infotainment display in the 2023-2024 but decided to put the smaller infotainment display in their outgoing model. Nissan is screwing up by getting rid of the Altima, and now even more with putting in that smaller display. That’s a deal killer for me.
Why are we still forgetting that Kia and Hyundai exist? They are in the same segment as this Altima. They both have AWD and a non-CVT transmission. Come on sir, it's not the big 3 anymore, it's the big 4 and Nissan isn't in that game anymore.
They could’ve done so much more with this to make it extremely competitive, but it never quite meets the mark. Mostly because they’re not wanting to keep it around, which is unfortunate.
Nissan needed to keep either the Maxima or the Altima, there are people that still want a sedan. This is a big mistake. Honda and Toyota understand that.
i think they should’ve made the Altima more like the Maxima’s exterior design with the Altima’s interior space
the last great accord was the 2.0t,the newer model sucks. The altima SR is not bad but it would have been better with a proper auto transmission.
agreed. unfortunately, sedans are not profitable. too many people want soul-less ubiquitous egg-shaped SUVs.
I totally agree
