This guide to boxes was so useful and the most comprehensive I have seen. By the way I have one 2021 box with the small interior ridges you mention but also another from the AD with a larger raised part on both sides resting against the flap. There seems to have been a change inside around 2021

You give me a good smile when you mentioned the smell as being a nice shoes. Yes, the modern Rolex boxes do have a smell character that might be useful in spotting the fake.

Mine smells like leather. I guess new leather shoes counts. But it doesn't smell like a cow.

What's the real box made of? Is it lacquered wood?

Not sure but based on the weight it feels like wood or pressed particle board

the raised part where the inside flap rest against is different from our AD bought rolex boxes.

That’s strange I’ve seen several with the raised part learned about it from a used Rolex dealer

Yeah, I don’t know if that is an accurate tell because my watch box does not have that. Everything else is spot on, but the raised part where the flap rests is not there.

Very useful, having a fake for comparison would have been useful as well though.

LOL all of these comments sections littered with ziarex bots. Some nerve trying to use fake warnings as a means of advertising

Thanks for the video. I inherited my first Rolex DateJust from my father who passed away and unfortunately it didn't come with the Rolex Green Box. Thanks for the education.

    What year is the box?

  • @mulemule

*60-years ago, it was not unheard of for their boxes to be covered in **_ostrich skin._** (A fantastic and durable anti-counterfeiting deterrent that also made the buyer experience something bold, luxurious and exotic every time they held or opened it.) Now? It's cheap, plastic-looking, fake leather.* 🤢

I find this to be just a little too much. It's as if everything made or distributed by Rolex is perfect and straight from the hands of God. It's a friggin box, for heaven's sake. Much too obsessive and effusive.
