That's a good looking Heather Fly representation; even the colour of the legs is about right. (I've always been of the opinion that the placement of the coloured body section is immaterial.)

Beautiful tie Davey, I use a feather, slip the stem through the eye of the hook, pull it through to thoroughly clean the eye of any glue. Merry Christmas!

Hi Dave, not spoken to you for such a long time but watch all your video's still. Hope you are well. Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year. On the tie of this bibio. You could say it is tied like an old sweeney todd colour and pattern.
I was sat in a hairdressers 30 years ago and reading a magazeine, Trout & Salmon to be frank, about a famout fly angler/tier who said he made his mind up to scrap the thousands of flies and boxes he had in his posession and just select 1 named fly and colouration pattern and he chose the "Sweeney Todd" and he wrote an article where he told everyone he tied this fly in wet and dry, nymph, salmon and seatrout pattern and reservoir styles of all thee various kinds and he fished the one pattern all year for the entire season to see if he caught any more or less fish than in previous years. He concluded his catch rate doubled as he did not have the selection choice to choose from therefore teaching him to fish the fly more accurately learning each individual fly and the wqy it should be fished correctly far better than the many thousands of flies we all have in our posession today. I tied a boxful of flies all in sweeney todd pattern just to see if there was any truth to this experiment and I also found this works well and caught me more fish. like you over the years I must have tied tens of thousands of flies and often I have been the only angler on th bank catching anything out of 30 or 40 anglers so given other anglers my patterns as freebies many a time. They then asked me to tie them a boxfull for the following season so it pays to be generous. It paid for my permits many times over. Even river keepers gave me free permits for flies tied. It just reminded me of this time when you tied in these colours... you can tie these colours in so many different ways but at the end of the day it is still a Sweeney Todd style or variant of.
