Actually Vince Clarke and Andrew Fletcher (RIP as of Today), did founded the band and then invited Martin gore to found "Composition of Sound". Then when. Dave Gahan came in they renamed the Band Depeche Mode. BUT!!!! It was Vince and Andy who started it all and when Vince left it was basically "Andy's Band". He was the one in charge or the legal, desk and paperwork plus he's the Manager I believe, on studio he's the one in charge of scheduling recordings and negotiating, on stage he is in charge of tour dates and promotion and during playing he does Al the sound effects, all the sampling and base lines of all the songs

@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 Thanks. Yeah, sometimes I go back between Violator and SOFAD as my top choice. Although neither album has any weak sauce imho, sometimes I lean more in favor of SOFAD because I feel as though they definitely went outside their comfort zone more with that one. In the end, however, I typically go back to Violator. That album is pure perfection from beginning to end and each of its nine tracks packs a punch.
Alan stopped writing songs after Some Great Reward because he just figured that it doesn’t come to him naturally and that Martin’s more prolific at it. Anyways, you have an interesting list~ Here’s mine: 14. Spirit 13. Sounds of the Universe 12. Ultra 11. Exciter 10. Playing the Angel 9. Delta Machine 8. A Broken Frame 7. Speak and Spell 6. Construction Time Again 5. Music for the Masses 4. Some Great Reward 3. Violator 2. Songs of Faith and Devotion 1. Black Celebration
those late albums are pretty crap.. unmemorable. would love to see DM live someday. They are on my bucket list of bands to see live. I think I stopped following their records after Ultra. I think I would rank my top 5 DM albums as: 1. Violator 2. Some Great Reward 3. Music for the Masses 4. Black Celebration 5. Construction Time Again My #1 and 2 could interchange sometimes. I've also been getting more into Songs of Devotion lately. Love blasting I Feel you often :)

Great list! Depressing that the most recent DM release is our least favorite. I wonder if they have another great record in them at this point?
I want that gig. Go out drinking 😂😂😂😂
And get paid as a full member of the band!
Love the hits but "Clean" is my favorite song on Violator.
Yes! Great song. 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Such a hard band to rank
Agreed. The later albums were easier to rank.

That’s a solid album and a worthy follow up to Violator. Cant argue with your top 5. The early stuff is the best. 🤟🏻🤟🏻
I'm sorry, did I hear right? You like In the Dead of Night but you don't like Freelove? mmmm
