temp mail is easy finding a phone number, is hard, tho, unless you go to physically buy the cheapo sims, basically all of them are blacklisted, or already used and services limited to X per number
About four years ago, I had the "great" idea of making an email for every service I'd use, and that quickly turned into an annoyance, starting with making them. Google blocked my IP from making any new emails within the first 7 I made. I decided to keep using those 7 emails and using them evenly, just making sure that every service I'd use would have a completely randomly generated password that was around 16 characters. But, then the other annoyances came with managing so many. I'd be cool if a single email could generate a sub-email, sortof what Apple does internally with their "sign in with Apple" thing, where it'll generate a sub email and password for everything you ever sign in with it. But, it's just all a hassle for a teen who's just getting into the idea of keeping myself safe online, yet, not anonymous. Recently, I've been shifting all of my frequently used and important services into my main email, but I'm still forced to maintain those 6 other emails since some services are locked to them. Though, I've been wanting to set a higher standard for myself, like regularly shifting my passwords on most of my important services, perhaps using a password manager rather than manually trying to keep track of my passwords, and finally disabling autofill. I see how the world is becoming so connected, but how people don't try to keep themselves protected online just for the convenience and commodity. I'm stuck between wanting to become a shadow and keeping the modern comforts that come with the lack of privacy. Perhaps, I wish to be both.
@tingc-o a I have 7, those are the first 7 I managed to make before getting IP blocked for a bit. I think it's my main, my backup, one dedicated for facebook, one for twitter, so on and so forth. I originally meant to generate an email for EVERY individual thing, so in theory, I'd have dozens. Which brought me that idea of having a main email capable of generating sub emails like the Apple example I gave, that'd be cool. I didn't know I could host my own but I'll definitely look into that. Sounds fairly interesting! For now, to deal with the main issue plotted in the video, spam being the main concern, I've spent a while setting dozens of filters, so it's typically not an issue at the moment, but that obviously doesn't fix the safety concerns. It just makes my inbox usable, even with dozens of services mailing me. I've also unsubscribed from many email stuff, as in the option to have it stop mailing you. Thank you btw, I appreciate the suggestion!
Free e-mail accounts with all the necessary features and plenty of storage space are now the _de facto_ standard, but interestingly this is a double-edged sword: they are free because your personal data (aggregated or otherwise) are valuable to those behemoth providers, and therefore they will not offer temporary e-mail addresses as a service. But this is exactly what keeps it easy for spam companies to ban temp e-mail domains whenever they are created. If GMail offered temp e-mail addresses, the spammers would have to resort to (prohibitively) more difficult ways to vet addresses.
