- My Kazakhstan (Kazakh: Менің Қазақстаным, Meniñ Qazaqstanım) is the national anthem of Kazakhstan, adopted on January 7, 2006. It is based on a homonymous song written in 1956, with music by Shamshi Kaldayakov and lyrics by Jumeken Najimedenov. This replaced the anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the state anthem, which was used after independence. The original lyrics were modified by Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of Kazakhstan, before the decree was issued.

Although its also worth noting that would not be the only reason, I personally don't hear very much news or cultural influence from Central Asia, unless its Afghanistan (Thanks to the US and the War on Terror). Though its understandable, Kazakhstan and the other 4 Stan countries are landlocked after all so they wouldn't have much influence abroad (Hence the reason their tourism increased only because of Borat). 10 months ago, compared to Kazakhstan though, I already knew a bit about Mongolia (Nomads, tents, that's my impression of them lol) partially cause I read about their culture in a book and the fact they used to have the largest land empire in the world.
And regarding Africa? At least I hear something from there, that most of the countries there are undergoing mass poverty and wars of their own, but if you asked the average Filipino from here (yes greetings from Philippines btw) about the five central Asian "Stan" countries like Kazakhstan, nothing much is going to come to mind, other than the name of the country itself. Even I, until stumbling on this video abt 10 months ago knew completely nothing about Kazakhstan other than its some country in Central Asia, that was about it.
Anyway, that's to clarify why I find Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries to be underrated in my personal opinion.
*For TL:DR - Central Asian countries are landlocked and their influence doesn't go much abroad so we in Philippines don't get much exposure.*
Regarding Borat though, I didn't even know what Borat was until I checked this comment section tbh, which was after I made that original comment. It seriously annoys me that more ppl are talking about Borat than a piece of original Kazakh culture, so much so that now I wanna avoid that movie.
