I didn't even make it through the front door on this one. I exported my character out of Mixamo and imported into UE4 and my character became a hideous faceless monster.
Is it possible to have a skeletal mesh work with multiple other animations? Say for instance you have a character from somewhere, and you want it to work with the mannequins animations, mixamo animations, as well as it's own animations, can you retarget it to both the mannequin and mixamo skeletons, or can you only retarget it to one?
When I retarget in the animBlueprint, when I clcik my character that I imported, his whole entire head is chopped off, which, I've done this like 3 times already and just now noticed it, so please help me on that, idk why idk how and no tutorials on this, it's kind of weird how nobody else apparently has this problem. :(
Ryan Im back. 2022 and UE4.27: Can you tell/direct me how to fix this problem: Mixamo animations flatten the arm (mesh tube) when the elbow joint bends - instead of keeping the arm (tube) solid, and only bending the joint area. (It's flattening like a plastic stray bent in half, instead of a human flesh arm that flexes but keeps 80% of it's tube shape.)

Im a little confused. Got to the stage of duplicating the retargeting animation, and in the window that comes up, I do not see my character which i auto mapped and saved - therefore i cannot apply the animation. Any ideas why this would be? Thank you
Man...i know it's an old vid...and not your fault...but when i set my rig to match the bone names...and adjust my arm bones ever so slightly...it doesn't SAVE...I'm using an accurig that is supposedly for Unreal Engine...anyway...it's always something...

@@ericheinsen823 Hey Eric, i have the same problem, in which direction did you rotate the forearms in to fix it? ive tried that and its helped but the wrists are still not right looking. Ty!
@@dan2059 well it depends but the goal is to match the poses between the two as close as possible but I ended up needing to just rotate forearm by about 15 degrees to match other skeleton

This was great and I was finally able to get all the animstarterpack anims on my own character. I only have one issue where it appears a single vertice on the right middle finger sticks above my characters head. I checked the models weight paint in blender and all is weight painted. Any ideas on how this might be fixed?
Thank you Ryan. I may ask, i made a custom model and rigged for Unreal at Blender. So the names are the same but when i imported into Unreal, Mannequin animations seem too wierd with my model. My model gone crazy. So what do you think where i missed the point?
Hello. I use Character Creator 3 to produce my game characters and I exported it to Unreal. I then purchased an animation package from the Unreal Market place. I was unable to retarget those animations on my Character. Would anyone here provide a solution for this?

man i have been on Unreal for a bit. Not a pro..... clearly. Spend a lot of time on tutorials trying to do everything... Unreal is so confusing when you are using same mannequin but different skeleton.. and you cannot use it.. It just about drove me crazy why i could not remember how to retarget until i just watched this.. I am so relieved, i was about to lose it lol

I figured out that was normal.. I just made the size of the character giacantic.

nvm figured it out... needed to rotate forearm of mannequin to further replicate the retargeted skeleton

Should i match two meshes base poses in blender for two separate skeletons to work?
When I get to the Duplicate Anim Assets and Retarget, the mixamo skeleton doesn't show up. Do you know what I'm missing?

Great video! Once you have retargeted your animation, can you export the new animation as an FBX to a software like Blender to edit it?
You can do but the keys will be baked in so editing the animation is difficult
