- Your first 5 ounces of gold and what should you buy? I get that question a bunch so I decided to do a video on it. New stackers are coming into the space and need some guidance. The spot price of gold keeps going up and more will come in to catch the ride. Be patient and find which ones you like the most and stick with it.

I forgot to mention pre 33 gold and it’s a solid buy!
Yep.
I'm getting some fractionals and work my way up to a Buffalo. 2/10+ there. Got 2 premium fractionals I'm not going to get rid of. It's too hard to let go of a 2020 Kook and gold 1/10 Libertad. So may need to get lower premium gold fractionals such as Britannias. It makes it easier to obtain with lower premiums and let go to get them Buffalos, but will be keeping one of the Britannias as well obviously 😉
@Doug Jones thanks
@@johnmorgan9731 😂😂👍🏼
They are cool but I find the premium so high.
I can’t afford gold. So. I stack aluminum cans. Fits my budget nicely.
It all adds up.
10 cents a can
🤣🤣🤣 what is aluminum spot anyway??? Is the premium the beer inside🍺???
I know you're joking, but I started with copper coins, saved up until I had enough to get a silver coin, and now I finally had enough for a gold coin. If I could do it, anyone can (no pun intended).
I have to agree with your assessment on what Gold to stack.
I just have to say Gold is sure mesmerizing in any form.
Yes sir it truly is!
Well, I'm new at this stacking game, and it is fun. I only have 2 and 1/10 ounces of gold so far, and close to 300 ounces of silver. I do not have any 1 oz gold coins, but I have eleven - 1/10 AGE's and two 1/2 gold Britannia's. I'll buy around 3/4 an ounce (1/2 and 1/4 oz) gold each month, and pick up maybe 10-20 ozs of silver. It's about the best I can do now.
That sounds like you’re doing just fine. Most people don’t have $400 in their checking account.
Better to save up enough for an ounce then buy it. You are overpaying by buying incrementally. Gold and silver are weak investments anyway, so don’t bleed yourself dry trying to get some.
Gold and silver aren’t investments to me. It’s a physical savings account outside the banking system. Thank god we stack. What’s going on in Canada worries me.
@@cowboysilver4838 You are correct, but most people don’t grasp that nuance. I gave up years ago trying to make that distinction to others.
@Jurassic Porkchop- You’re on your way to making a really attractive stack. I always buy what I can afford and I’m not really into the tenth ounce purchases due to the higher premium that you’re going to pay. I guess it’s better than not buying any gold at all. I only buy the half ounce coins or 1oz coins and I save up to do it. I always purchase on a targeted market dip. Have discipline with your budget and buy what you can afford and your stack will grow into a very profitable future! Way to go with the 300 oz of silver. Go for the Monster stack!👍
Back in 2015 I bought my 1st 6 ounces- all in 1/10 oz Ecuadorian coinage. My beginner's luck (buying at $1100/oz, buying with a relatively low premium, buying a highly portable & highly liquid size) established a highly satisfying base for later stacking. I stack to save, stack to prep, and stack to diversify my holdings.
Thats smart!
In USA, your first five ounces of gold should be gold eagles. A mix of one ozs, mid-fractionals, and 1/10 s .
All hail the age!
Silver Heist, Have u found ur 1/10th Gold Kookaburra??
@@biwarikikumstackernz I see them , I want one, I just haven’t bought a 2022 gold kookaburra yet.
@@SilverHeist God Willing, if my delivery comes right on Monday, I should be doing a video review of the 2022 1/10th Gold Kookaburra. Fingers crossed.
Couldn't agree more Heist!!
I like all the channels with the tenth oz gold challenge per month. I would definitely buy a fractional Buffalo if I could afford it which I can't. The Maples with the radial lines are stunning.
Yes they are!
What a beautiful table. Man your camera is super crisp Dog!!
Appreciate that bro! It takes a while to upload 4k footage but it really makes the gold pop.
My uncle was a dealer for 40+ years. Whatever is the cheapest premium, always. Ask what they pay for it to buy it back. Premiums never come back on eagles just saying.
They don’t and that’s a fact.
agreed!
I have been acquiring gold gradually over the last year as per my budget. I just totaled 5 ounces of gold with my last order. I bought fractional gold 1/10 and 1/4 ounce coins (mostly 1/4 ounce coins). Gold Eagles, Gold Maple Leafs (majority of my coins), and some Gold Phiharmonics.
That’s a great mix.
Still working on that first 5 ounces of gold. Little by little. Thanks for the inspiration!!
It adds up T!
Love pre-33. Something about owning a piece of history. Thanks for the content and insight! Keep grinding brother!
Shirt 💎
Always!
If it's your first 5 oz the gold eagles aren't boring. I would mind a 1 oz gold Buffalo though
My favorite 🤩
I started with Krugerrands, then Buffalos and now picked up my first Britannia. I really like the Britannia for its security feature, but the Buffalos have a classic Americana feel to them.
They are rugged.
Thank you, it is entertaining. I am grabbing 1/25 oz Czech lions. One would think the premiums would be super high on these, but the mint is willing to take it back for the same premium as a one ounce coin.
That is a good deal!
Excellent video. I do like adding different types of coins in my stack. This keeps the excitement alive.
It does.
“Boring” gold? Gotcha!
But wait…NO gold is boring to me!! 😆👌🏼
Buying the same thing gets boring 😂
I've been waiting for this intro! Keep grinding on your stack!
That’s right Carl!
I started with a few cool 1/10th Oz gold coins from around the world, my favorite of them is my graded Australian koala. but for a full Oz I love the buffalos the most, so much detail and I like they have a pretty high relief to make it pop.
Oh yea the hammered fields get me.
I'm fortunate that I started smart (I had no real instruction back then, so I got lucky) and all of my early purchases were coins that will be easy to move. Thankfully I'm pretty satisfied by continuing to stack that same stuff so when someone sells it down the line it should be easy to move. Thanks!
You’re welcome.
My 1st 5oz’s came in the form of 1/10th coins & 1/4oz coins, 1g, 2.5g & 5g bars.
Try to purchase 1/4oz and larger these days. Cool coins 👍🏼
Yup 1/4 ounces are easier to read at least.
Like #6, I did show case my Somalia Gold Elephant, and steady on the gold.
I’ll have to check it out!
@@SilverBritches Sure the one and only Silver Britches, the title is "2022 Somalia Elephant 1oz Gold Bullion Coin"
@@biwarikikumstackernz thanks
I have been stacking for many years and for me it is all about the "boring" stuff!
Me too!
Start with the boring basics for your country like you say. Sovs make a lot of sense in the UK too. Once you've a bit of a base to the stack adding in some more fancy stuff if you still want to.
I bought a random 1 oz and 4 sovs when I first started and sold them the following year at a healthy profit just to prove the concept.
If I'd bought tenth oz or small bars or quarter oz I still wouldn't have got my money back due to those premiums on smaller pieces despite the uplift in gold.
Looking forward to seeing that buffalo tube full 👌🏽
It’s going to happen 😂😂
I'm in the United States and I called a coin shop and he offered spot price, no matter what I offered to sell, whether it was a Buffalo, a Britannia or Perth Mint Swan or Dragon coin. Same price for any gold coin
Same, as per when I buy from the LCS I get whatever is closest to spot at the time… keeps cost down and also scratches that itch of diversifying the stack.
That’s because demand is high. In a bear market it’s a little different from my experience.
Yea I have that 2008 Fractional American Buffalo 🐃 and they are expensive but quite Rare
To have ... I wouldn't suggest for beginner's to dive into Fractional Scarce pieces like that
They could atleast get 4 different Fractionals 1/10 oz or from a LCS closer to Spot or a 1/4 and a Gram or Two with even maybe some silver on the side ... The Buffalo is really long term holdings
It is and it’s my foundation.
I love your intro!!! Man that's awesome! Gold in my far future hopefully.
Appreciate that 👍🏼
I stack Ether and DAI in my personal owned vault secured with a 256-bit/64-byte private key, along with gopher pelts for my local stacking. I swear the gopher pelt price is going to the moON! once people realize how many gophers it takes to make a coat!!
Eth 👍🏻
You always have super solid perspectives!
Appreciate that
Bought my first 6 oz of gold last year. I bought a 5 oz Lady Fortuna and a 1 oz Perth Lunar Tiger. Also bought Barrick Gold stocks. All are UP!!!😎😎😎
Nice!
I like British sovereigns. Low premium, recognizable and I love the design of St. George killing the dragon. It's basically emblematic of gold killing fiat currency.
That’s a great point.
I love those Goldbacks!
Hi Clean. My favorite gold coins are the ones I like the designs on. The Buffalo is my fav. I bought the BU, Proof, and Reverse Proof. I like Libertads. I have a 1/2 oz Reverse Proof Libertad. It's not a stacker's coin because it is expensive. I like it in my collection. A Mexican 50 Pesos gold coin is nice because it is 1.2oz of gold. Nice and chunky. That leaves room for 3 coins at 1/10 oz each. Your High Relief Liberty is one of my favs. Then, a 1/10 oz Buffalo is nice if you can find one. Then, the 1/10 oz 2016 Mercury Dime would make the total of 5 oz. The BU Buffalo and the 50 Pesos coins are the only coins I mentioned that I would consider as stackers. The others are all collector coins. I am more into collecting than stacking. *TYU*
No libs for me yet. I’ll buckle soon I’m sure of it.
HI D!:) YOU COLLECTOR YOU!.. *TYUCUZYOUARERARE*
1/4 ounce American Gold Eagles. Working on some 1/10 oz AGEs as prices are nasty high. Lucky in 2019 to snare a full 1 ounce AGE and Buffalo. That is my five ounce escape plan. The rest is in silver, platinum and different gold coins. Including a pretty pre33 coin.
That’s awesome!
Strong stack G. Thanks for the encouragement
You’re welcome
I'm at 4.5 oz of gold. I got type 1 AGE quarter and half oz, proof type 1 AGE quarter and half oz (capsule only), type 2 AGE quarter and half oz, walking liberty commerative half oz, standing liberty commerative quarter oz, 2 canadian quarter ozs., and a Buffalo. Plan on getting another Buffalo in April.
Do you like the proofs more than the BU? I used to prefer proofs for years but the bu grew on me.
@@SilverBritches It's nice to have a couple of the proof coins but I will stack the bullion coins.
@@5.0beers70 variety keeps it fun!
Nice!
First gold buy was a 1/10 proof Libertad that I still have. It felt like a big move at the time. I paid $220 for that tiny little sucker. Turned out to be a great move because it broke the ice for me on buying gold. I decided I loved it so much I should buy the quarter ounce then wandered what it would feel like to have a one ounce gold coin and the rest is history. I prefer the Buffalo to the Eagle for the simple fact it's pure 24K gold.
I'm with you on the buffalo!
Should I dump my foreign bullion for domestic?
I love that version of the intro!
😂👍🏼👊🏼
At 2k plus an ounce is this really a good time to buy Sirs? I'm am going to a reputable gold retailer tomorrow and thinking of plopping down 5k.
It’s not the ideal time to buy gold. I’m just being honest. I’d wait for a pullback.
@@SilverBritches thanks Sir for being a honest mate👍

What's your thoughts on gram bars in Assey cards?
I’m not a big fan them personally. If it’s all you can afford go for it.
I'm interested to see that you're happy to pay premium for more numismatic /collectable gold. Start stacking and its hard not to end up collecting as well 🤔
If I can grab the numismatic stuff for regular bullion price I’ll grab some from time to time.
I agree , weight is weight
All these You tubers hate on bars n I cant understand why.
If one is into thr numismatic aspect and are willing to pay the higher premiums then so be it.
@@billyhurst4319 I don’t hate on bars, I just prefer coins is all. I always tell people to buy what they like.
@@SilverBritches Its all good my man , didnt mean to sound like you hated on them specifically but there are a lot of stacking channels who most push the Buffalos , Maples , Eagles. There are a lot of people who like the bars as well and no one gives play or conclude there prone to counterfeiting when coins are just as susceptable

Any Aussies or just all of them?
@@SilverBritches only the newest and cheapest. But I also love to see how stackers as you in the US think about stacking Gold and Silver. My compliments for it.

@@SilverBritches Keep up the good work. I will follow it . . .

For me, it would be the AGEs in all sizes, 2 Buffalos, and some .9999 fracs☠️💀☠️
😂😂😂 you know it!
I just made my first purchase. 200oz silver and 7oz of gold. As far as gold, I got 1oz liberty coin in a case, 1oz Indian in a case and 3 1oz random gold coins. I'm keeping the Indian and Liberty. I also bought 2 1oz Fortuna bars.. What do you recommend next? I'm breaking down all of my savings that I'm not in immediate need of.
I would say space it out some. It sounds like you have a solid foundation going. We might get lower prices in march.

Where you bought your Buffalo coin? Link please..
I buy from different places. APMEX, Bullion Exchanges, Hero Bullion.
Think it’s good to start stacking at $1900/oz?
Not really the ideal target price.
It’s strange that when gold price was down I got no stacking videos suggested. Now that hold is going up and the buying opportunity is going away the videos are back.
I say buy low sell high. But gold is really for long term preservation of wealth. Not a buy/sell investment.
@@scottcampbell7944 I’ve been busy making videos for a while. I’m hoping for a pullback personally. It’s definitely a long term play.
My First five ounces is going to take me 100 coins, and I hope I can make it by then!
We all have our budgets.
There is no best gold, low premiums is the most attractive feature to me. Gold is gold what is stamped has nothing to do what makes it valuable. Budge is my biggest driver.
Different strokes for different folks. I like my way and you like yours. Either way we’re both winning 👍🏼

Don't buy gold unless it's on a major dip and you can endure holding it until the rip or you'll lose money.
Long term hold is what it’s for.
I don't think anything under a quarter ounce is worth buying due to the insane premiums.
It’s not.
Cowboyy 👏
🤠
Got 18 oz it was a gift
Congratulations
You made a great point at the end of the video. Focus on your foundation, which should be your country's sovereign minted coin. If you live in America, start with Eagles and Buffalos. If you live in Canada, start with Maples. If you live in the UK, start with Britania's. Once you have a comfortable foundation (5oz) then branch off to other sovereign minted coins of other countries. The reason this is great advice is not only is it recognized as legal tender, but in case you have to move to whatever part of the world, you can bring these coins across borders at face value. Buying gold bars are cheaper yes, but you will have a problem bringing them across borders in an emergency. Always go with sovereign coins. Just my humble opinion.
I agree ☝🏼
Because I started stacking in CA I needed to buy over $1500 at once to avoid sales tax, so I started with 1oz coins.
Also, I find your lack of Krugers disturbing.
#KrugerSupremacy
It will always be disturbing! Nice Krugerrand you posted on discord.

If I didn't diversify, I'd have more than 1/4 oz
Bought a 5 ounce bar in 74 for $140.00 ounce
Wow Mike!
Listen, if you’re just beginning your stacking endeavor, then stick to American Gold Eagles 🦅. Whatever size you can afford, with the knowledge that the smaller the size, the higher the premium you will pay. Your initial goal should be to build a solid base of the most liquid (easiest to sell, and most recognizable) Gold available. You can save money on premiums by purchasing Maples, or Brittanias, or Kangaroos, but Eagles are recognized, and accepted at any Local Coin Shop in America. If you live here, then buy the AGE first, and foremost. And those Goldbacks, well let’s just say that I believe they’re just a foolish fad, and would never, ever recommend any stacker buy them.
I agree with that if you’re in the United States. Building a solid base from whatever country you’re in is crucial. Thanks for the great comment.
That about 10k today
What’s that?
Gold is gold.... so get the most for your money. Buy bars, not coins. Coins come with added premiums in many cases. If you go into a store to sell gold, they go by weight. Go ahead and pay more premium for a coin.
I’ll continue to do so Jim. Go ahead and pay the extra taxes involved with bars.
@@SilverBritches I never pay taxes...nada. If you live in one of the few states that charges sales tax, fine....then you're stuck Otherwise, ....a bar is cheaper than a coin. Less premium and no taxes
@@jimlehmann1661 if you sell them to a dealer you’re required to do so by law. Not all dealers comply though.
Love the channel however if you are a new stacker to gold, save up for half ounce or 1 oz coins. The premiums are around 4-5% which are the lowest. 1/10th ounce gold coins are NOT the way to go. Sure it may be fractional, but the premiums are outrageous and you are not likely to get that premium back. Eagles, Buffalos, Maples are the best. I am in Canada so Maples are the best here. Buffalos are my favorite however, followed by Maple and the Eagle of course. The old style American Eagles are the best.
You don’t like the seagull design 😂
So…”your first five ounces” turns into a flex?? I’m confused. Nothing against you having however much you have. Just thought it kinda defeats the purpose of the video when you start throwing out all the additional coin. Just appears a little “showy”.
Would you prefer a blank canvas? I don’t know how to show different gold to new stackers without doing so. If you have any suggestions I’m all ears.
@@SilverBritches Nope! This isn’t complicated my friend. It’s just that I expected to literally see FIVE OUNCES, that’s all. Some suggestions of how you could have done it. Use the various fractionals (or type) combinations to build up to the 5 by the time you were done explaining. If you are indeed talking “first five”, you are clearly talking to newbies. Why go into what appears to be a “flex” with them? They are just trying to get going. Owning gold is challenging enough with the prices. I think by now everyone knows RUclipsrs with these channels have an advantage of ad revenues playing a huge role of growing their stack or even if there are other side-hustles involved. Fine and dandy. Just sayin’, as a non-newbie, the message fell through the cracks with me, because I spent so much time noticing what you were producing was a bit more than “five ounces”. You have it, cool. The newbie is just trying to get there. It helps if the visual matches the rhetoric.
@@trentsmith8160 maybe start your own channel perhaps. This is not a podcast so visual is all I can provide. As far as ad revenue. I make a little over $200 a month that I still need to pay taxes on. If you want proof well that’s fine too simply send me an email and I’ll provide the proof you need.
Never buy anything less than an ounce. The premiums are too high on fractional; it will take forever to make your money back.
