I totally understand. I was measured at Allen Edmonds 13D but I do like a more secure fit so I can go with a C width. One thing is for sure having a boot that is a little bigger is much better then one that is uncomfortably small. You can always put an insole in and make a larger boot work. Because I have big feet I really don’t like to do that but if you have normal feet just go for the bigger size.
Appreciate the videos about your experience with this maker. I have the “Indy” and “Paratroop” models and have ordered a “Service Boot”. I believe the leather is corrected, but IMO it is of adequate thickness and higher quality. My examples appear to be carefully made and from people who have commented on them, nice looking. Your experience seems to indicate they will hold up well. Good value I think.
@@JosephBair-qp5yz For the Indy I bought size 42. For the Paratroop I bought 8.5. They use a combination of European and US sizing. My Brannock is 9.5 with a lower volume foot.
I've got a Luos Jiet/XBXS boondocker and a suede moc toe derby on the more formal side. My wife has their brown deerskin "8111" -- can't get her size in genuine Red Wings. I've put a lot of wear on my two pairs. They've got genuine veg-tan insoles and midsoles. Upper leather is nice enough, albeit on the thin side compared to boots from other brands. The stitching and finishing are very neat compared to American and Canadian makers. As for negatives, XBXS shoes are always pretty tough to break in. That's probably because they're pretty heavy for what they are. They also pretty much all develop a squeak, either immediately or not too long after you start wearing them. And they use EVA as a filler in the cavity beneath the insole instead of cork. All in all, I think they're a pretty good brand if you can buy them on Taobao. Most of their shoes and boots are less than 200 USD and their seconds are often around 100 USD, and they're a very good value at that price. They absolutely knock brands like Thursday and Meermin out of the park.
Made in England docks don't get chunks falling off as the ones with plastic layer from Vietnam. They act like pigment more in. Y experience. At least the new ones. I really like louisjet boondokers
Great review, I can't wait to see more videos on these boots! I love hearing about how you're going on walks with them! Are you wearing workout shorts too?😂
@@chefrichh I wish I could give you an accurate answer but I don’t have anything to measure it at this point. It feels like a standard thickness maybe a little thicker than normal.
I'm a 9.8 on a Brannock with a very slim insole, 9.5 in most sneakers and 9 in most boots (Grant Stone, Parkhurst, Thursday). Luosjiet's chart has three sizes between 9-9.5. My initial guess was 42.5 (9) since I heard they ran a little bit large. Would you recommend looking at the 42 (8.5) instead based on your experience?
It would have been nice to go into aggressively breaking in boots. The Jim Green cape buffalo hide is notoriously stiff and slow to break in. Fill the boots with water (remove the innersole if present) wear them with thick wool socks until they dry. Repeat as needed. THEN oil and wax them to your heart's content. Retreat the boots once or twice a year depending on your use. I have never trusted Euro sizing. Too many bike and motorcycle boots with sizes all over the place.
@@YouShoe-1985 i am strongly considering pulling the trigger on these as my first pair of boots, has your overall opinion of them remained positive?? also do you have any thoughts on how the sizing on these compares to Vans - the chart on luosiet's site indicates that their sizes are 1:1 with vans/converse sizing and i would be interested to know if you think that's accurate. (unfortunately where i live i cannot go to a store and try on red wings or get a brannock measurement)

Do you think the sizing issue is because you have such a narrow foot? I’m a little nervous to go down as I have a slight wide foot for my size.

I am definitely impressed with their QC and craftsmanship. I wish there wasn't a 300 dollar difference between their fancier options.
Corrected grain is fine, just depends to what degree. Cxl is also lightly corrected.
Great point.
Wear them in the rain. My Dad (WW2 Vet) said that's how they broke in their issued service boots.
Those boots look really nice!
Good idea. Thanks for the comment.

Curious. How did you size yours compared to your brannock.

did you sized down ?

42 is what I would do but I prefer a snug fit. You can always try 42.5 and add a insole if needed

This leather is dummy thick. I own 4 pairs of RM Williams and none of them have leather this thick.
