Thank you! I'm trying to learn all I can about it now with upcoming vaccines and to make the right choice on which to get.
I have the Activated Protein C Resistance. I got tested when I had to go in for surgery. My mother stepped and mentioned it to the doctor. Good thing, as I bled quite a bit during surgery.

i have two markers for this disorder and i’m african american mixed with a lot of european.
i also have thrombophilla caused by factor v leidens.
i literally do not bleed whatsoever and have been on high yield blood thinners since 1999.
i’ve had 100+ life threatening blood clots as well as 6 heart attacks and 6 strokes. i had my last stroke at age 32.
this disorder has permanently disabled me.

This disease has disabled me also. I had my first DVT when I was 32 years old, and have about 10 more since then. Now I am 42 and disable. Most of my DV t's have been in my legs and they have turned chronic so my legs swell as soon as I stand. have gotten ulcers. Because of the swelling. I've had a few DV t's in my arms also.
Period. This diseaselete is not fun

Women who carry the factor V Leiden mutation may have an increased tendency to develop blood clots during pregnancy or when taking the hormone estrogen.

I have homozygous FVL and Prothrobin Gene mutation heterozygous. I had a dvt in Dec 2022 while away in Hawaii on vacation. 😅 I'm on eliquis and had to do extensive blood work. I'm about to go in next Thursday to get a duplex to see if I have a clot of just vein damage going on in my left leg that had the clot. I have no other reason to have developed the clot except my genetics lol. Life is pretty wild sometimes but we can't let it knock us down, gotta keep pushing through and live it to the fullest. ❤

Thank you for this info. I have Leiden Factor V, had a massive PE 10 years ago. Current weird thing: Spontaneous "goose egg" on forehead. No trauma whatsoever. 2 mildly sore spots on scalp. Then massive bruising from forehead, into scalp and down temple, but "goose egg" dissipated and no further swelling. Blood work is perfect. Blood clot in scalp?

They removed my blood clot in my leg 95% then cleared the rest with some type of medication in my veins. It was as long as a pencil. I had to have an umbrella below my heart vein. They said they only removed it because of my age.. I also had a very large PE and smaller PEs that devolved with blood thinner.

I've been diagnosed with FVL homozygous in my 30s , but had no symptoms so far..
I have got tested because my mum and her father had DVT.
The only treatment I have to take is aspirin low dose, however it feels so overwhelming.
Like I always expect to get an embolism.
    Life's unfair sometimes.

Hello! Thank you for all this detailed information! I was wondering if there is any way to test if the heterozygous factor V Leiden is indeed penetrating or not. Is it possible to have factor V, but not actually have protein C resistance?
I have factor V and I had an usual event after a varicocele embolization - a blood clot that extended towards the renal vein, fortunately, it didn't reach it, it didn t get a chance to solidify as I found it 1 month after the operation and in 3 months of rivaroxaban it completely dissolved. Nobody knows exactly what caused it, BUT a combination of an unaspirrated vaccination + some thrombophilia genes + the procedure itself caused the problem.

It is activated when you suffer a severe injury. I was hit by a car and hemoriged into my pelvis (it was broken)Ever since any injury causes clots. I've had a pulmonary embolism. I've suffered miscarriages. It blows my mind when doctors don't know how to treat it.

My father had problems with pulmonary embolisms at the age of 38 years old and had to take warfarin up until his death at the age of 66. Now I have been on the medication Eliquis 5mgs q12hrs daily July 30,2016. Then on March 17, 2020 I was life flighted to Allegheny general Hospital in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and admitted to the complex critical Care unit input on life support with a 2% chance of survival. Still unable to get a diagnosis of exactly is causing my condition. Unfortunately I had made the decision to get vaccinated for the covid-19 virus and things have gotten worse regarding my health. I didn't think I could because I had so many miscarriages and also a tube removed from a ectopic pregnancy. God blessed us though with 2 more miracle pregnancies and healthy babies

Hi, great channel. Question: my husband had 2 Pulmonary Embolisms. The first one happened 12 years ago and happened a week or so after undergoing a surgery for an ingunal hernia repair. He was given blood thinners in the ER for the PE but was never prescribed anything further. He went home and was ok. Then, in 2019 he suffered another one. This time they believed it was caused by a 5 hour flight, however, the flight happened a month before the PE episode. And there was no swelling or anything else to indicate that it originated from a DVT. He was put on blood thinners and tested positive for carrying one Factor V gene. He stopped taking the blood thinners after 2 months & has been fine since. My question is that he is having an upcoming surgery to remove some basal cell carcinoma from his cheek & wondering if he should start taking some blood thinners leading up to the surgery and/or post surgery?

I have had 9 pregnancies, and had 7 miscarriages most of them very early but I had 2 that was not in early weeks one was 17 weeks, after this, one doctor in the hospital that saved my life with the miscarriage I almost bleed out had to have 3 bags of blood wanted to test my blood for anything. The lab took 6 or 8 viles of blood to get tested that is how I came to know I have this and at 14 weeks was another miscarriage. The reason was due to blood clots in the cords to the babies. I now have 2 living sons. This was from ages 16 to 27 years old. Only birth control was the iud I could use. So after my last son I had my tubes tied. This last November was the first time I had a blood clot come out of no where in my left leg. So now I am on bloodthinner. My sons will be tested as well.

Well, my take away from this whole video is that I will either be taking a pills for six months or the rest of my life (like both my mother and father). I wouldn't necessarily call the situation "fucked," but certainly an inconvenience. Personally, I'd rather have this issue than many other genetic problems. Good luck to you.

It's no big deal as long as you take anticoagulants for life.

      It's no big deal,
      compared to strokes &
      pulmonary emboli.
      You swallow a pill.
      It's NOT like chemo,
or something with horrible side effects.
