No coraline is actually trapped still it will be very hard to explain but the beldam actually tricked her into thinking that she's still actually safe in the world she is in but that's actually the beldams world that she made it's a theory I know about idk what u think but I think coraline is still trapped but it's what I think we don't really know but I hope there will be a next movie it's really hard to explain the theory I'm talking about sry about the long writing!!!!!♡♡♡♡♡
The tunnel would kill her. In the book, it os made clear that the tunnel is actually more dangerous than the Beldam, and is alive.

Anonymous Person even the cat knew the danger of the tunnel. Hence why in the book, despite the obvious threat of the other mother, he still hesitated to enter. And once in he tells Coraline “come on!” And “this is not a good place to be in”
So this is my version of the second movie there is one.
After all the years the other mother's hand was slowly climbing back up with the key, and Coraline and whybe had kids or something and the other mother's hand opens the door to where their kids can get in.
Do the other mother takes Coraline's kids and she has to go and get them but the world is even more twisted. And it turns out the kids she helped when she was younger wasn't the only ones list there.
IDK just something I came up with
BUT, the other mother is dying... she will be too late if she would eat another soul after 20 more years, I believe
that could be a good plot twist

The hand is completely destroyed, the other mother is probably going to starve in the other world. That’s why there isn’t ever going to be a sequel, coraline is safe forever

I think that the beldam is still alive!!! Because at the end of the movie you can see at the garden party, when it shows the whole garden, you can see the beldams face in the garden!!!! And the world I think was originally there in the first place, the well was most likely the original portal to the other world, so she fell down the well and created her world. When she started eating children’s souls that was because she needed some type of life force. So she lured children into the well so she could eat them. You are probably asking, where did the other door come from? Well I have the answer to that! The beldam created the door! How do I know? Well, a child wouldn’t want to jump into a deep scary well!!! Would you???? Exactly! So she created the door so children wouldn’t be scared to come to her world! The first and second child fell for it obviously, and so did the third one, which is Wybies grandmas sister, but here’s the twist, the grandma had no way of knowing how the sister disappeared. So why would she make the pink palace closed off to children??? Well she went to the other world!!! Her sister thought the other world was amazing!!(all of the worlds are different for each child the beldam lured into her trap) so when the grandma saw the world she saw it for what it really was and got scared and ran away. So when all the sudden her sister disappears she knows why! And the reason she let coraline into the house is so wybie wouldn’t get taken by The beldam, so basically she sacrificed coraline! That’s all hope you see this!!! Ily 🤟🏻

blonde guineapig the reason it was the other mother in the garden is because that’s the other mothers way of showing that she’s still alive. It wasn’t coraline that made it that way it’s just the way the garden was made. The pink palace use to be the other mothers home so that might be why the garden is like that too.

Okay, so first off, it says in the book that the beldam actually did fall. So yes the portal is the well. However the book also states that the other world isn't a place she can change, only copy the children's wishes onto to please them. She couldn't have made the door because if she fell how would she be self aware of the door? And wybies grandma most likely never saw the other world. As the audience learns that the grandmas sister disappeared without trace. Therefore stating that the grandma would Have no idea of the other world. But the reason she wanted no children living their was because she knew that other children had gone missing
In the movie the cat states that the other world is part of the beldam so if the cat can still walk through then that means that she is still alive

Did Wybies grandma knew about the other mother? And why did she let coraline live there
the grandmother at least knew about the other world or she wouldn't have told Wybie not to go near the palace or covered the door with wallpaper. As for why she let Coraline live there, it's not confirmed but I believe (if the grandmother DOES know about the other mother) its because she was scared that the other mother would try to take Wybie so she is letting Coraline live there instead so she will be taken instead. Kinda like offering Coraline up to the other mother as bait to divert her attention from her grandson. OR maybe it's because of shes poor and needed a renter? or perhaps she just wanted to see if Coraline would go missing too to see if the other mother was still there or not. don't think we'll ever find out for sure, but we can theorise

Personally I don't think it's because there was only one book, since I've seen movies with only one book have sequels.

And there’s another theory that Coraline actually ended up in a THIRD world where the beldam has her trapped and she doesn’t necessarily EAT her, but lives off Coraline energy because the beldam is like a witch. And even though she lost her hand people don’t think she died from it, instead she was satisfied that Coraline fell for her plan and locked herself in another fake world.
I totally beleive that theory! Like, the Beldam never died and Coraline is trapped in a fake limbo world where the other mother can pose ad Coraline's real mom!!!

This was certainly an interesting theory to watch, but if the other world is still alive even without the Other Mother, I think it means the other world is now blank and white. As we see in the film when Coraline is walking with the cat, they come to a large space that is blank and the Cat says, "Nothing out here, it's the empty part of this world. She made only what she knew would impress you." implying that and showing us that the other world is a blank canvas or an empty page of you will, that someone can create a world with to their heart's content. For the other mother, it was quite literally her web which she used to catch the children, luring them away with sweets and toys before she eats their souls.
With the Beldam/Other mother dead, when she died, I think her world fell apart to ruin. This resulted in the other world returning to its blank page state again, and we are the Cat return to the other world as the film ends. When I saw the film end I was eff with a "That's it?" Feeling and I wanted to see more, and I wondered what had happened when the Cat left our world.
I've used blank page and canvas to describe the other world, because I believe that's what it truly is, and a person can created a world of their own there (Recall the Animated Alice in Wonderland by Disney) in that film Alice daydreams of her own little world and we are her go through her world. I say this because, if the other world is a blank page and canvas, how would you create a world of whatever you desired? The question has many answers, you could write, draw, paint, craft, or even say out loud what you want. It's possible that daydreams/dreaming could shape another world.
I think that when the Cat left our world and entered the other world, he began making a new world, however, perhaps he cannot (This is just a possible theory) and if he can't, then perhaps he's waiting for a new person to come and create a new world, one that will be much better than the other mother's world.
This Theory makes me quite happy, because it gets the creative wheels turning, and is quite inspiring. :3
I personally believe the beldam isn't dead.
During the movie, the cat says she found it or made it, and before that it was nothing.
I think the beldam is like a support for the world.
Everytime she creates something, it makes the world whole again. But without a beldam, the world collapses in on itself and is no longer there (meaning the portals wouldn't work anymore,) leading me to believe she is still alive since we see the cat go through the portal in the end of the movie.

If there were to be a Coraline 2 I feel it would be Coraline as the mother and wyborn as the father and they would have a son and Coraline would have to try and save her son because the other mother captured there son and whborn wouldn't believed Coraline so it would be up to her to save there son. This is y I believe there could be a Coraline 2 because the Beldurn could have survived because at the beginning wyborn told Coroline about a girl who fell in the well so the Beldurn could have ate the girl in the well and came back for Coroline out of anger.

well, in the book it is revealed, through monologues, that the beldam cannot CREATE her own world, she can merely modify worlds that already exist.
In the books it's also said that the doorway to the other world is something much older than the beldam herself.
So the other mother just found someday the portal and entered this parallel world, which she modified to suit her needs and evil schemes
cramer floro the other portal besides the door is the well, in the beginning of the movie wybie talks about how deep the well was. Saying if you fell down there you could see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day. And it's always night time no matter what time Coraline enters the other world

I watched Coraline when I was 4, and that day I had gotten really mad at my mom and wanted to run away... So if you’ve watched Coraline you know how terrifying it would be for a 4 year old (who also in fact had a black cat) that wanted to run away. Yikes

In the book, the Other World is described as a living, breathing entity. And really? Coraline goes back home from The Other World by SLEEPING? Suspicious. And The Other World needs to feed too if it is alive. So what will it eat? The souls of the children. But it needs someone to use the magic that it has to lure the children in. Coraline never left The Other World after the first night and we did see that the Beldam can fake having real eyes when she fooled Coraline when she went into the main part of The Other World to save her mom which was just her in disguise. So when the Beldam died in the end of the film, Coraline was stuck in a part of The Other World where The Beldam had trapped her. When the Other World realized that The Beldam would just keep taking up the energy of The Other World, which I believe just let The Beldam use its energy and magic to lure the children and to take their souls by taking their eyes (Because you know what they say, the eyes are a WINDOW INTO THE SOUL.). So The Other World let The Original Beldam die to conserve magical energy, and when The Other World is hungry and needs another child to feast on, it will keep Coraline from death, and her body will slowly deteriorate like The Beldam's and then Coraline realizes that she has done screwed up and that she is still trapped in The Otherverse, and that she has become The New Beldam, and that she is doomed to eat the souls of children until she is overthrown by another child. @@parryplaguedoc I mean, you're not wrong, but I would say nothing happened because I believe they were fake puppets used to scare coraline to trap herself in a fake world. They weren't real, because the other mother wouldn't be that dumb to leave coraline behind the mirror where she knows the ghost children are. So to me it was a plot to trap coraline in a place that looks just like the real world, but to where she can pose as Coralines real mom and feed off her soul.

I have a theory why wybie's grandma let coraline's family move into the pink palace. I think it was because the grandmother had the doll of coraline and the doll would not be able to watch coraline at all. In fact, everything started when wybie give her the doll. Soon the grandmother found out that coraline had the doll. It showed in this in the movie when wybie's grandmother asked him to get the doll back. Wybie also found the doll in an old box or some sort. She knew that coraline was in danger ever since she found out that she had the doll.
is it just me, but I think that the person creating Coraline's doll is the Beldam?? You know, that person at the beginning of the movie?? .. k

Did Coraline really... escape?!
Nope. Coraline is trapped in the limbo pink palace which is a place created to look just like the real world so that the other mother can pose as her real mom. We see when coraline goes to bed in the other world, she wakes up in the real world. Since the other mother can't get through the tunnel herself to an alternate universe, she wouldn't just be able to control the powers of the real world. And that's why she can shift the tunnel to a different section of the other world (Which we call the limbo pink palace) This makes coraline think she is back in the real world, when it's just trapping her more in another one of the beldams creation. This is also why they have button eyes, not to see, because when coraline goes back through the tunnel she sees her mom with REAL eyes, and then it's shown just to be the beldam. The eyes aren't needed, they are used to scare coraline and to be something for her to differentiate the "Real" and other world. So now when she is trapped in the limbo, she thinks "Oh!" My parents and no one else have button eyes, so I can tell i'm safe in the real world. Then now, when Coraline throws the key down the well, shes actually tossing it through a portal to the other world, so now the other mother has the key and Coraline has locked herself into the limbo pink palace where the other mother can pose as her real mom and feed off her soul. Sorryyyy that was sooo hard to explain if you want more on that theory just ask!
As a kid this movie literally gave me nightmares.

Coraline and Wybie did the stupid thing by throwing the key down the well (the well is connected to another world) they should have destroyed the key as well as Beldam's metal arm with the stone. There should be a sequel...

I remember watching Coraline when it first came out when I was 8-9ish and it still to this day is the only movie that terrified me to the point of tears. I’ve always *LOVED* horror movies and before then I had watched Child’s Play, Flowers in the Attic, Alien and I grew up watching Courage the Cowardly Dog and Mr Meaty but Coraline to this day still terrifies me to watch over a decade later and I have no clue why.
Now here's a couple questions: Where are and what happened to the childrens' bodies after the Beldam ate their souls? 😯😐 And, while the children were still alive, would the Other Mother try to find a way to reel them back in to her world in the children's world or the, "Real World"?

Big Guy617 I find it quite unlikely coraline is actually trapped at the end of the film. By the beldams mannerisms throughout the movie. She needed coraline to willingly give her soul to her. That’s why she had to offer her the button eyes instead of forcing her on them. Why she was so nice to her in the beginning it’s far easier.
That is what I used to think. After watching all of the Fangirl's videos on Coraline I see the film differently. She exits the Beldam's world through the Bed twice. But we don't know for sure if she ends up back in the real world. She maybe in a Limbo area of the Pink Palace. The way to get out of this limbo is through the path way she came in in the door. the tunnel in the door may work like the moving stair cases from Harry Potter. Also everyone who has button eyes is a puppet of the Beldam. That may even include the Ghost children. That maybe the reason why they told Coraline to throw the key away. When she throws the key down the well, it ends up back in the Baldam's world. Coraline is trapped in the Limbo.
The bodies became soulless puppets of the other world, like the other wybee and the other father.

To anyone asking yeah the other father did want to help Coraline. When she is trying to retrieve the ghost eye from him, the other father is on his big mechanical bug thing as it tries to attack her, which is what the other mother is controlling, but as this is occurring the other father is yelling “sorry”, “so sorry”, “mother making me”, “don’t want to hurt you”, and at the very end as he begins to sink beneath the bridge, he says “ here, take this” handing her the ghost eye right before his death.
Ok so when her dad was singing her the song he was trying to warn her he said “ *she’s as cute as a BUTTON IN THE EYE* ” and also says “ *our eyes will be in Coroline* ”. “Our eyes will be on Coroline” some what says that their gunna sew buttons on her eyes, because they have buttons on their eyes, in all for that quote means that THIER EYES (buttons) will be on Coroline.
I absolutely love that movie! I'm 4 months pregnant and if the baby is a girl we're naming her Coraline!

I would like a new move of coralline so that they can explain the beldam and the pink palace life before coralline moved in for those of us who aren’t so good at catching hidden things, messages, or things that are in plain sight (like me)
What makes the other mother’s death so terrifying is that we don’t actually see it happening on the other side of the door. But from the way she’s yelling at the top of her lungs and banging on the door that she is dying violently.
I’m watching all her creepy videos at 4am and I regret every decision I’ve made leading up to this moment
