I just recently went to Disneyland without going on any rides. I was having a rough week so I just went by myself, and just walked around. Went into stores I've never been in and had great conversations with some cast members. It definitely turned my week around.

I LOOOOOOVED eating at the Blue Bayou! As I was having lunch with my family, a boat passed by and one of the kids on it called out 'Are you real?!' and I shouted back 'No!' He turned to the kid next to him and said 'I told you!' I'll remember it forever :)

last week while dining a kid was yelling "don't shoot us!!" .... he really thought we were pirates :)

I did this at 2 restaurants in Disney Paris and was the best meals of the trip. At the pirates ride a little girl kept waving to every boat was too cute

DoomBuggy86 i hate to be one of those people but you should have seen it pre pirates movies. The selection was twice as big, and the prices were half as much.
They used to have a chocolate coffin with zero the dog on top every winter to compliment haunted mansion halloween that was to die for (not to mention a whole dessert cart)
At this point you are better off eating at the napa rose. Similar prices with award winning service and fancyness

working at Disneyland graveyard shift it's crazy seeing the park empty no guest no music it's an experience not a lot of people get to see and feel I get to walk around the park right before the sun comes out all u hear in the park are the birds it's a special feeling also walking the attractions when they are off is an amazing experience!!!

    • @alskndlaskndal
      @alskndlaskndal 7 лет назад +1

That must be really amazing! Are there a lot of workers around overnight? I always imagined that was when they did all the cleaning, landscaping, maintenance on the rides, and other stuff they don't want guests to see.

I agree. A great perk of being a cast member. Had that experience in the middle of the night on brake testing the Matterhorn. A totally different kind of magic. My last summer I took the opening shift on Jungle Cruise. I loved taking that first boat around to check the animation.

I worked there too in the 70's and there is nothing like it. Closing the park was awesome too. People do not realize that guys come in with fire hoses and wash it all down every night and just make it sparkle

Last time I was at Disneyland, my date and I were both on the loading dock of Big Thunder Mountain right when the fire works show started! We figured lines for rides would be shorter when the fireworks show was going on, but we definitely didn't plan on the incredible view of the show from that ride! The first loud 'BOOM' scared the living daylights out of us, but it ended up being an unexpected and utterly MAGICAL moment followed by a magical quick kiss we sneaked inside the tunnel right before the first lift. =)

I love the idea of doing a no attraction day! When I go with a CM friend we do very few rides and just hang out. It's so much more fun and relaxing than when I go with my family and they rush around to go on as many rides as possible!

The year of the 60th, my teenage son and I planned a day without rides. It was amazing. The two of us made great memories. We watched shows and celebrations. We went on the Columbia sailing ship for the first time. (It has always been docked on other trips) We saw the last performance of the old Disneyland band and had a chance to see the Dapper Dans. It was a very enjoyable day. On our next trip, I hope to ride in the nose of the monorail. I had a chance once before, but there was only room for 4 people so I let my hubby and kids go. I have yet to do it myself. I also have never seen the flag retreat ceremony. That's on my bucket list. I also want to try some of the foods FB has reviewed. Guess I need to get the bucket list ready and at the top of my list it will say: meet the Fresh Baked gang!

YES YES YES TO ALL OF THIS! Disneyland is definitely a lifetime park and when people tell me that I should be tired of Disneyland now (been AP for about 10 years now!) people don't realize how magical Disneyland will always be with bucketlist items likes these! For example, after almost 10 years I FINALLY tried Blue Bayou this past spring for my boyfriends birthday and to do it right, we of course got a water table and honestly it was the most magical feeling I felt at Disney for awhile! I honestly cried (LOL) because even after 25 years, Disneyland still felt so special to me ❤️

I love no ride days ! When people ask me what's my favorite thing about the park my answer is just being there and taking it in . The big smile walking in giving a nod the Walts apartment and taking my jaunt down Main Street with no destination in mind just enjoying the satisfaction of being there . Thanks for the footage FB! It makes the in between trips time way more bearable lol FRESH BAKED!!!!

Absolutely agree with your number one. Take the time to enjoy the atmosphere of the park. Sit on a bench in each land and just watch and listen. Even though it technically is a ride, I would incorporate riding the train all the way around the park. It allows you to see it from a different view and just relax.
My suggestion for something to experience at least once is the flag ceremony at sunset. As a veteran, it still gets me every time I see it. It's the one thing I hope they never stop doing.

I spent one entire day devoted to taking photos of the TREES at Disneyland beginning with the most famous, the 126-yr old 'Dominguez Palm' near the Jungle Cruise, and the giant Moreton Bay fig tree at Tarzan's Tree House. I'm growing a "Tarzan's Tree House" fig tree at home from fallen purpleish fig fruit pods picked up on the path exiting Indian Jones. There are so many beautiful trees all over Disneyland. Take some time to notice and appreciate the arboreal beauty!

One of my biggest bucket lists items where ever I go is to have a couple key things planned out that are must see items, rest just explore and let the day/time in that place take you are meant to be... by doing this have had experiences would never have had but so glad I have had.

This one needs a love button. It's great!!! To compliment the rope drop, I'd add close down a park. Most people leave after nighttime parade and fireworks. That hour or two between that and closing is amazing!! Granted, it's usually crowded right up until that, but I like to grab an ice cream and people watch to wait while the park empties. The park is quiet, rides are easy to get on, and it's a great way to get morning-style peacefulness in the dark.

A few years back I managed to do the Thunder Mountain under fireworks thing by accident. Single best ride on Thunder Mountain I've ever done.
Never forget the sight of that dumb goat perched on the mountain, lit up by the flashes.
And at the end they had the brightest ones go off, where it resembles pillars of light shooting up at once, right at the very end of the ride, as we passed under the skeleton. The timing was so uncanny that the people on the train applauded.

We went to Disneyland last week. After the Main Street Electrical Parade, we decided to pass up the fireworks show because we had seen it the night before. We headed toward Autopia, but decided to ride the Rockets as the wait was only 15 minutes. The fireworks show started while we were in line, and we had a better view than we would have had from Main Street. They actually let us on the ride during the show and the ride ended as the show ended. It felt so magical.

it was shown in the video, but not explained that to better time a chance to see some of the fireworks while riding big thunder mountain railroad, get a fast pass with a return time that coincides with the showtime. then walk down to the turnstiles just a few minutes before the fireworks start. you can always stall if the line is moving fast. seeing the finale while spinning around the double turn is the best, but it doesn't always happen. i've been lucky enough to see it once.
if you just want to see the fireworks up close (and loud) the best place is by the entrance to toontown.

Loved this video. It's great to see someone enjoy the heart of Disneyland so much. It's not just about thrill rides. It is a life experience that gives back as much as you put in.

LOVE!!! And I agree with all of those. I would also like to add, trying new menu items throughout the year. I probably would never have known about the garlic twist if not for FreshBaked!!!

I'll add riding Matterhorn while the fireworks are going on! I lucked out and managed to do this on my very first visit; it's part of why Matterhorn remains my favorite attraction. My friend and I have never managed to time it perfectly since. Such a magical experience.
And I definitely agree on the no ride day! I haven't done a full no-ride day, but my friend and I have done focusing on shows and side attractions day (with a ride or two thrown in.) And Dapper Day is the absolute best!

Related to the rope drop, my son and I were able to push the button at rope drop that started the announcements. That was something you would never even dream of doing, but was made possible by the great cast members.

I count myself lucky that i have done the majority of these. My father figure is a HUGE disneyphile. He still gets together with people from his old disney forum (mousebuzz). He told me how cool he thought it was getting on the Lilly Belle and we signed our names in the logbook.

    Great list guys!!!
And so cute to see young Ninja! David, do you ever miss having a young one with you at the park? There is something special when you experience Disneyland through their eyes.
You did a great job putting this one together! It really captured a bit of the magic that is uniquely Disney. Thank you!

If you absolutely cannot ride Big Thunder during the fireworks. Then try dusk. The sunlight during that time works well with the ride theme.

im so happy about the last one! most disneyland bucket lists woukd never include it, but i completely agree!! i try to tell so many people that hardly any rides is the best way, just walking around and enjoying everything. this year our class did grad nite and almost everyone complained after that it wasnt worth it because of the crowds and the lines. however, my friend and i had an amazing time, we only did haunted mansion and roger rabbit (which we didnt wait in line for), and the rest of the day was just enjoying the park. it really is the best and most relaxing way to experience disneyland

The best thing is you can have a bucket list and then you learn about new things...like getting to drive at Indiana Jones...finding hidden things like the little man house or the white rabbits house...listen to the recording of houdini ....there is so much!

I got to take a ride with Ken, this past Saturday, in his fire truck, and it was amazing! He definitely got a kick when I asked if he was the "Famous Ken."

Blue Bayou's atmosphere is second ONLY to San Angel in the Mexico Pavilion at WDW. I'm lucky enough to have done both. The atmosphere they provide is incredible!

I've done a lot of these. I need to ride in the Lily Belle though. I could never go a day without riding anything. I only get to go to Disneyland once a year or less.

Go on the Astro Orbiter at WDW during the night's firework show. Pure. Bliss. I can't wait to do it with the love of my life someday.

Number one that shot of Liz in the tea cups at night beautiful and so genuine! Love ya Liz! Number two I'm sooo shocked that you didn't include a ride down Main Street with Ken in the fire truck! So shocked! To me that's a bucket list! Another one would be to have an encounter with Maynard!

I fall in love with Liz every time I watch those clips of her on the tea cups from that night. As for Ken, I felt like that is the kind of thing that can be done every day without too much difficulty, so it didn't make the top 10. But it's definitely a must do.
